Yep, you can definitely tell it's a thin felt.

Yeah, look how wrinkled the brim in the top photo is.

Very thin.

Never saw those photos before. Yep, that is one beautiful fedora. And floppy. And tall. In these photos, the brim looks rather short on the sides. If anyone ever doubted the dimensional cut, they need to check these out. regards, Fedora

Even though he's an actor... the picture of him grinning with that bloody shirt gives me the chills.

It's only Karo syrup and red dye #2. Nuthin' to fear, Fisk...

That brim is more warped than I am!

Not quite.:p

Gee, thanks Chamorro!

I think Michaelson's been too much of an influence on you (whether it's true or not is beside the point).

He's a hero, alright. We should all be influenced by him...

Fedora, They're from the behind the scenes: Raiders of the Lost Ark Documentary that aired on PBS back in the day. Rumor has it that the 10 minute BTS doc that comes with pre-orders from BestBuy.com is a trailer for the eventual release of this on DVD. Let's hope!

That's my favorite hat in the whole trilogy. Well, that and the one when he's hanging off the front of the truck. Possibly the same day of shooting.

It has adventure written all over it.

What I'd love to know is how high is the crown on that fedora in these particular scenes. I know what the official specs were supposed to be, but with so many hats made for this movie some look different than others and in these shots the crown just seems to look higher. Or is it just me. What do the rest of you think?

A big part of that is an illusion. Look at how droopy the heat has made the brim. The droopy brim makes the hat seem long from top to bottom. Cheers

That Raiders fedora is a chameleon.:D Rundquist has posted pics in the past that showed the crown as shorter, and then you see some pics that make the hat look tall. I think we can all agree it was not a 4 inch open crown, and we can all agree that it was not a 7 inch open crown. For me, I don't know, but I do know what I like on my own head. ;) Sometimes I like em' tall, and other times I like em' shorter. I got it covered. regards, Fedora

That photo shows that it was a thin felt, although it looks to be a little thicker than the lightweight Optimo, but not much. Fedora

regarding crown hight, The hight also depends on how deep the center crease is. with the center crease, you can take it down to a point without it taperingon the sides, and (like with my light weight Optimos) you can raise the front of the crease to make the hat look much higher.

Yep, but the variance that I was talking about is not dependent on the depth of the top bash. It is either photographic distortion, or different hats, or both.:D Fedora

I think Harrison Fords head kept changing shape and the hat stayed the same (Just Kidding)
