Those pictures are terrific...not so long ago, but it kinda was...I have a 1939 Chevy and saw two in your pictures. Thanks for a great show.

Great find!
The picture about six down of the kids reminds me of A Christmas Story.

There is a wonderful book entitled, "KODACHROME: The American Invention of Our World 1939-1959. It is filled with similar photos, all in color. It is amazing to see that black & white world in living color! It looks just like the world we live in today - only different! ;)

Those are some amazing photos! They capture so much. This photo in particular was amusing.

What's going on with the hats off? Couldn't be just for the photo could it?

I think those are all from the Charles Cushman Photograph Collection (http://webapp1.dlib.indiana.edu/cushman/index.jsp).
It's been discussed in The Lounge before, somewhere.

   !!! Simply amazing! I mean those pics brought me personally a bit closer to the golde era! Some photos are in such a good quality you couldn't tell a difference between now and then!

Thanks very much for posting these!

Thanks for posting! Very good detail, interesting how what seems like just an everyday scene at the time is fascinating much later...
