Well, some of you know that I have been waiting for a new arrivel from ebay. A nice double breasted coat with nice peaked lapels with a stripe pattern that would kill! In the pocket there is a label that has the date of 10/31/46. It was tailored on Halloween of 1946! And brother, it’s no “trick or treat costume neither! It's so soft and I believe that it's a wool cashmere blend.

I couldn’t take any real good photos of the whole outfit, but soon I’ll get some.

Here are some that show off the color and stripes of this great coat.

This you can see how well stripes and cream pants go together!

Thanks Dave! The hat in the fist few photos is a real cheap straw hat from a hotel. It's vintage from the 40's but it's a rea cheap one but, it looks ok.

The last photo I sported my late 30's Mallory 15! I love that hat so much!

Oh, and the car is the daily 46 driver ;)

I agree. I seem to remember getting that advice somewhere. It will come to me from where eventually though.
You certainly have the Capone brim going on there as well. :fedora:
The car and the coat are from the same year. :cool2:
Not bad at all. ;)

Thanks guys! Something about vintage just gets me! Nothing like a real vintage outfit to make a guy feel good.

WildRoot -- I hardly ever get on these particular sites, but had to see what it was you acquired -- and do you look good in those clothes.

You just seem to keep on outdoing yourself with the hats and clothes you get. Classy looking outfit.

I will have to remember that Capone look with the hat. I think it might be a good look on a gal, too. (I recall some old-time movie stars wearing fedoras with that 30's rakish brim, probably Dietrich).

PS I am jealous of the car

Thanks KD! Very kind words from every one. I'm so happy with my new coat and can't wait to really wear it out to a dance.

Myrna Loy also sported a man's suit and hat.... Just for this photo.

Thanks Jeff, yeah I found it on eBay and well, it started at $9.99 and I could bid for the next 5 days and hope I would win but, it also had a nice little "Buy it now" button on there for $45. bucks. So, I thought about it and then clicked the easy way out.

Gee Root, when was that picture taken again? 1947? That would make you about what now? About 80? :p ;) You look pretty good for that age. :p

Wildroot -- You look like my Daddy in that second photo. He looked great in fedoras and wore those old suits (don't remember him wearing light trousers with dark jackets, though). And my father was almost a dead ringer for Cagney.

You look like early-to-mid-40's James Cagney in that photo. I am not kidding, look at him guys. Cool!!

In the second photo that jeff aged and altered, yes, I think your face, the way the light and shadow falls on it, gives you a Cagneyesque look especially in the shape of your face and the set of your mouth.

The hat sets it off, too. In some of his movies, he wore fedoras with some quite interesting snap brims. There is a photo of him in Public Enemy where his hat has a jaunty angle to it and he has an evil lear. I am not showing it because he does not look like you in that photo and you've already been compared to a gangster or two.

I tried to find a Cagney fedora with an interesting brim and found this one from GMen, a 1935 film. Hope I can get it to show:

It went and is now mine.
(the pants are now hemmed)
I traded him for something rarer that was more his style.
