[huh] I got this Snowy River off ebay. It has a thin ribbon that looks original, no liner, and an old style size tag. I'm guessing it's 'Sand' in color. When were they made like this?

Does the sweatband say it's a Snowy River, or are you taking the eBay vendor's word for it?

They just have that classic look is all. Yours is just like mine that I got from Ebay, thin ribbon and all. I've seen variations on the ribbon but I like the ones like this best. Not a vintage hat, but a tough Aussie version of a modern American western. Mine also had some strange brim shaping, but I wetted it thoroughly with water, shaped it to my liking and it dried nicely and took up its stiffness again.

Any guess as to when these were made? The size tag is different from any Akubra I've seen in the last several years.
This one is going to get a brim massage too, it's got a funky look to it. I'm not going to 'fedora-ize' it, as this will be my summer outdoor hat for braving the elements and the sun, so I like the wide brim. I'll just try to flatten it out some and give it a cleaner look.
