There is a thread discussing which is more vintage. The conclusion seemed to be that both are equally vintage I think. As for today, I think three button is more fashionable at the moment. I would say if it's a blazer or sportcoat, get a two button, if it's a suit, whichever you find most comfortable.

Just my £0.02, maybe someone who makes these can add or improve upon what I have said.

I like both; for me it's more about whether the overall cut of the jacket is flattering. I do have a slight preference for a well-cut two button (especially when worn with a waistcoat), though.
