I am always curious (nosy) as to what others' routines are, so here is mine!
Here it goes:
Wash face gently with Noxema cream plus moisturizers (lotion formula)
Use pimple cream (benzoyl peroxide- as a spot treatment)
Put on Neutrogena moisturizer for sensitive skin
Daub on Revlon concealor where needed
Dust over face with Coty Airspun powder in Translucent (I l-o-v-e this stuff)
Rouge up cheeks with Revlon "Blushed" blush
Apply either Revlon's "Cherries in the Snow" or "Volcanic Red" lipstick
Spritz on Body Shop's Oceanus fragrance
That is pretty much it! I am trying to keep it simple. :o

Burt's Bees Marshmellow Vanishing Cream - although finding it a bit too greasy!
Try blotting it with a tissue after letting it soak in for a minute--that helps a lot :)
~landgirl~

Thanks for the tip! It's been feeling less greasy the more I use it, so think initially it was just my skin re-adjusting to a year of being stripped with acne fighting products, but still a teenie bit too greasy for me still so will try blotting tonight!

*blush* I confess, I use Clearsil facewash and an organic shea butter moisteriser and that's it! I'm going to remember this thread of 'instructios' for when I eventually get around to make up! :D

Look in mirror, rub eyes, take deep breath.
Cleanse with Pond's Cold Cream, wipe off with baby wipe.
Moisturize with St. Ives Collagen-Elastin moisturizer
Dust with Coty Translucent powder
Fill in eyebrows with brown pencil
Revlon Certainly Red lipstick
Another deep breath, and out the door.
(If I'm going to be working at the theatre, I'll add a quick layer of Pan-Cake foundation in True Beige, and a little brown-black mascara. I avoid shadow or liner unless I'm really glamming it up, which happens maybe twice a year...)

Good lord, it's a good thing I don't work.
Make coffee. Smoke. Bathe. Wash hair (every other day). Dry. Dust with cornstarch and Chanel no. 5 talcum powder everywhere. Apply perfume to pulse points. Put shoes on (if not slip ons), hose, and slip. Struggle into corset, whine, complain and generally grump until coffee's done. Get cup. Pin hair up into a french twist, or rag curlers.
Wash face with proactive and a buff puff. Tone. Repair lotion.
Put Elizabeth Arden moisturizer cream on. Let sit 5 minutes while I smoke and try to stumble around. Add a second layer, adding Arden's good morning eye treatment. Repeat stagger.
Come back and put on Arden good morning skin serum. Stagger and drink that coffee. Slather on Blistex. Let everything soak in. If needed add a layer of Oil of olay mositurizer.
Add a thin layer Max Factor pan-stick makeup, blend with sponge. Add concealer under the eyes, another thin layer, blend until within an inch of its life. Go feed the cat.
Do a line of Pink blush by Arden, then blend with sponge. Dust with a really not there layer of powder to set. Add Love my Lips liner in some off the wall color that's no longer on there, kick cat from under my feet. Argue with husband that 3 inches is fine on the corset. Apply first layer of eyeshadow, covering entire lid. Add contrasting color to crease. Draw eyebrows on. Add lipstick, blot, powder. Draw on eyeliner, catch tears from poking self in eye. First layer of mascara, or glue fake ones on depending on if I have them that day or not. Apply second layer, or apply to bottom lashes. Add second layer of lipstick. Go hunt down a shirt. Kick cat out from under my feet.
Find shirt and forage for coffee. If hair is pinned up, ignore. I have to leave about this time, so if set, find a scarf and tie round head. Drive spouse to work. Come home, drink the rest of the coffee. Do hair about 2.
Night time isn't so bad.

My routine depends on wether I'm planning on staying home all day or not.
Going out:
brush teeth
wash face (pro active solution)
toner
moisturizer (jergens)
concealer (mellow yellow)
foundation
powder
blush
bronzer (on forhead, nose and along jawline)
eyeshadow
eyeliner
mascara
brow pencil
lip liner
lipstick
If I stay home, I just skip all the make up part :)

This routine is for an average workday or going out. If I'm staying home or just going to the grocery store or something, I skip the makeup altogether.
*Wash face with Olay Regenerist cleanser and daily thermal scrub
*Witch hazel toner
*Vitamin C serum to face
*Olay Age Defying moisturizer with SPF
*Olay Regenerist Eye serum
*Coty translucent extra coverage powder buffed over face with kabuki brush
(Sometimes I precede that step with tinted moisturizer)
*Revlon blush in smoky rose
*Eyebrows - pencil in with Maybelline auburn, light wax to define
*If I'm going out for the evening, or really glamming it up, I'll do eyeliner on the upper lid only - Revlon's sepia tone
*Eyeshadow - cream over entire lid, darker brown on lid and in crease (brands vary - usually either Bare Escentuals, Physicians Formula, or L'Oreal)
*Mascara (usually Bourjois)
*Lipliner - currently L'Oreal vintage nude
*Lipstick (brands & colors vary too much to list)
At night I remove my makeup with either the Olay cleanser and follow with witch hazel, or if I'm lazy I just use the Olay regenerist cloths, then follow with Olay night cream and eye serum.

It is really intriguing to me the way to all keep track of all the brands and names of the items you use, I always buy the same item's but I am usually just lookijng for the color of the labeling until I figure out what I bought last time!
Brush/floss my teeth
Avon moisturizer non wrinkle stuff
OR Nutragena moisturizer w/sunscreen depending on my mood & skin
Figure out what I am wearing so I can decide if I am going with warm/cool
makeup
Foundation
Eyebrow pencil
Eye shadow base, color accents anywhere from 1-4
Eye liner
Mascara - upper only
Lipstick
Blush
Throw clothes on
Add jewelry and I am off

My beauty routine isn't "vintage-i-fied," but here it is:
Rinse face with cool water.
Moisturize with Dove Essentials Sensitive Skin Day Cream.
Use Revlon Colorstay coverup for undereyes and any spots.
Apply eyeshadow, generally in a neutral shade all over and a brownish color in the crease.
Put on a little blush--MAC in Strada.
Dust on Chanel pressed powder in translucent.
One coat of Maybelline Great Lash in brown-black.
Chapstick.

Very fun to read everyone else's routine...
Do the same thing every day, unless I'm in a coma:
Wash with Pears' soap and brush with Pepsodent
Pluck eyebrows
Dab on Max Factor Pan-Stik and dust with Coty powder.
Line lips with any old lip pencil and add some shade of red lipstick
Comb out (set) hair or pin up/flip (unset) hair
Run out door.
Take mess off with Pond's at end of day.

I love reading everyones routines!
Here's mine:
cleanse face with witch hazel
Max Factor pan stick (or if special occasion Besame)
Maybelline Lash Stylist (love the comb)
skip liner and shadow unless special occasion then I use a brown on upper only and Besame Socialite Brown or Pistachio shadow
pat on Coty Translucent extra coverage( or Besame if special occasion) with a cotton square
La Femme powder rouge currently in Cinnabar
brush teeth
apply La Femme in Sunset Orange/Tangerine or Bittersweet lipstick (or Besame, I love the Carmine shade)
spray on perfume (for the fall I like Golden Autum)
Always earrings - even if I'm home cleaning house
I brush out my hair last - spritz with hairspray and I'm good to go (or stay home:D )
At night it all comes off with Ponds or Jergens followed by witch hazel
set hair
collapse in exhaustion!

Hmm... here's mine I think..
Wash face with something from Clinique
Moisturize with something from Noutragena (sp?)
Brusha ma teeths
If it's a normal day:
(all benefit)
Powder
Benetint on the lips
Georgia on the apples of the cheeks
Hollywood Glow on the tops of the eyes.
Brush out hair and thow it up in a ponytail or half up half down with a pseudo pomp
Throw on decent looking clothes and do all forms of strange body contortions while fishing for a pair of socks in the closet (someday I'll be patient enough to pair them up and repair my chest of drawers)
If it's a vintage day:
Ditto all the first one then:
*Use a lotion all over legs and arms that smells purty
*Use a green stick to cover blemishes and rub it all in
*Put on Benefit foundation (I think it's called Non Fiction?)
*Coty Powder all over my face and part of my neck
*dab more powder under the eyes to brush away after I apply eyeshadow because I'm terribly messy at that
*Eyeshadow- usually light color near the ridge of the brow (which were most likely plucked the night before when I set my hair) more taupey color until crease, darker color along the edge of the crease and sometimes up a bit if I'm going more dramatic. If I'm doing more causal 30's I'll just use Hollywood Glow.
*for 40's and 50's- dark eyeliner at the top lid- white eyeliner at the bottom.
*Curl eyelashes and add a coat of mascara all over, then wait for it to dry and add a couple more coats at the outer lashes
*Blush on the apples of the cheeks- for more dramatic I use a tanner in the hollow of the cheeks to make my cheekbones stick out more. For more casual I'll add hollywood glow again to the apples for that 30's look.
*Fill in eyebrows sometime during all this stuff.
*Lipstick preferrably with a brush, then set it with that one thing from Benefit... don't remember the name...
*let out pincurls and attempt for a long while to get something looking vintage but not 80's huge. Spray the heck out of it. Make sure it's a style that's hatworthy if I'm doing a hat.
*put on all the undergoodies, don't put stockings on until right before I get dressed.
*dress myself and shoe myself, transfer purse goodies.
*perfume myself
*jewelry myself
And we're done!
(Maybe I should pose this in the Queen Mary thread... lol)

I prefer the translucent...I don't like adding color to my foundation at all.
Lauren

I agree. Mine right now is colored, but that's just because I picked up whatever the shop had with the old packaging. I'd prefer translucent.
VanillaT
10-17-2006, 09:12 PM
I also prefer the Translucent (not the extra coverage one). I really don't have any complaints about it whatsoever! :D
fortworthgal
10-18-2006, 08:23 AM
I use the translucent extra coverage, because most days I don't wear any foundation. I find that it does add some color, but not too much.
If I'm wearing BE foundation or a tinted moisturizer, I use the regular translucent. That's also what I keep in all my vintage compacts.

get up
stagger to big chair
watch court tv, drink green tea and read email while i wake up
couple of hours later
take bath, wash hair by laying down in bathtub, fall asleep again, wake up again, rinse with one of those shower doohickies. use pond's cold cream on eyes to take off residual make-up. wash fash with water and wash cloth (soap only a couple of times a week, soft neutrogena)
out of tub. dry bangs. the rest of my hair, add some kind of gunk don't care and scrunch
get dressed - black jeans, usually black shirt - vintage jacket, red sneakers
grab make-up bag head out door
stop at del taco for diet coke, macho, if long line of cars ahead of me put on eye liner (raisin or green colour) and curl eyelashes (short line skip the eyeliner - wait until after get to work)
get on freeway - long straight area - put on foundation - bare minerals extra light with spongey thing or big brush, wipe powdery stuff off my jeans
blush - - forget the brand, another powdery thing in a little jar, use different brush - wipe powdery stuff off my black jeans
eyeshadow darkish purple - ring finger of right hand on top of eyes, blend
(lookin pretty good according to the trucker next to me)
mascara -cover girl waterproof black in the green tube - NEVER COMES OFF until cold cream days
get off freeway - get into slow lane to make turn - add eyeshadow with little sponge under eyes - going for that smokey look
lip colour - some dark mocha colour with a lip brush, with red gloss on top.
arrive work - if hair dried ok, leave down, if the sides droop and make me look old and tired put into a low ponytail. if i am on assignment hair in ponytail.
comb eyelashes with little metal comb - too dangerous to do on the road.
voila. done. and nobody thinks i have done a thing - until i show up for work with nothing on my face and folks think i am sick.

you would only want to kill us for about two weeks.
my mom's mouth looked like a smoker's mouth so she had something done - didn't work.
then i started to get a few wrinkles around my mouth and i didn't smoke so i asked her why i was getting them. she said because you chew gum and whistle. i've pretty much stopped chewing gum but the whistling habit is hard to break!

Hi kids! I just joined, mostly for the Powder Room. There is so much wonderful stuff in here! :D
Here's mine:
Morning:
Splash face with cool water.
Pop in contacts.
Apply foundation (usually Maybelline Dream Matte in #1 Porcelain Ivory) with brush.
Use concealer on marks / under eyes (BareMinerals Bisque and Well-Rested)
Dust face with powder (Coty Airspun in Translucent ♥)
Blush on apples of cheeks (NYC Color Wheel in Pink)
Apply eyeliner, on top outer lids only (NYC Liquid Eyeliner in Jet Black)
Curl lashes and use two coats of mascara, on top lashes only (Maybelline Full & Soft in Very Black)
Put on lipstick (NYC Ultra Moist Lipwear in Retro Red)
Take hair out of braids (I sleep in pigtails!) and either comb out / put up / whatever.
Spritz neck, wrists, and other places [;)] with perfume (Lavendertheraphy by The Healing Garden )
Evening:
Take off makeup (Noxzema - I use baby oil to get the waterproof eye makeup off)
Bathe / shower / wash hair (Fructis shampoo / Pantene conditioner / Palmolive soap)
Moisturize face / body (CVS baby lotion--smells SO good)
Chapstick
My morning routine takes about 15 minutes, my nighttime one a bit less. I highly recommend NYC cosmetics - amazing quality for a drugstore brand, and rarely above $1.99!
Nice to meetcha :)

And to be honest, I really don't like wearing make-up.
But, when I do, my routine is:
-Hubby drags me out of bed (sometimes kicking and screaming)
-sit in bed for a few minutes until things come into focus...watch the morning news until hubby's out of the shower
-hop in the shower (not literally, I'd probably injure myself!); depending on the day, shampoo my hair (I do this about every other day - my hair doesn't get greasy and it makes my color last longer) and apply my Radiant Red hair masque (LOVE this stuff!)
-Rinse, get out of shower, and dry off.
-Get dressed in whatever I can find that's clean and suitable for work (I don't have a vintage wardrobe...yet...hehe)
-dry my hair, which is the most time-consuming part of getting ready. My hair is so thick that it takes forever to dry!
-floss/brush teeth, etc.
-apply Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer w/SPF 15. Love this stuff, too.
If I'm feeling awake:
-apply Bare Minerals as my concealer and foundation (this stuff is sent from Heaven!)
-apply cream/light brown eye shadow (no idea what brand...something most people would shudder to think of wearing, I'm sure)
-apply brown mascara to upper lashes only; declump with little brush thingy
-apply a light swipe of Burts Bees Lip Shimmer in Cocoa.
If it's the weekend, and I'm feeling a little punky, I'll swap the brown mascara for my pink mascara.
And I hardly ever wash my face - I hate it, it's such a chore...on the occasion that I do, it's just Dove non-scented soap for sensitive skin and water.

I LOVE talking about makeup!!!
(1) HOT TEA.
(2) Wash face with neutrogena gel cleanser, witch hazel astringent, followed by moisturizer (with SPF, of course! have to keep that fair complexion!) At night I do a honey mask which, according to my Indian friend, purifies and softens his Indian sisters' skin and makes it glow...vinegar also serves as a great astringent for you natural-fanatics like me
(3)concealer (still in the acne stage of life...ugh), foundation, and covergirl powder in porcelaine...although this coty stuff sounds fabulous!
(4) Lanc?¥me blush in Apricot...the most wonderful, long-lasting blush ever
(5) Eyebrows--Maybelline in Auburn
(6) revlon skinlights eye cream--peach on lids, the shimmery gold pumpkin and bronzy brown in crease
(7)brown suede eyeliner, with an upward cat-eye edge (ooooof course!)
(8) curl lashes, then any kind of dark brown lash-extension mascara
(9) Lanc?¥me lasting lipwear in "Flash" or this beautiful burnt red-orange lipstick....so hot! :)
(10) hair, clothes, accessories (always) and my French rose perfume...it has such a vintage, romantic, feminine scent (I'm not a snob, just a French major and love all things Gaul)
(11) Clich?©, but smile. ;) and maybe one more cup of tea to be able to do so.....
Don't you just love being a girl?

I shower and set my hair at night, and it depends if I will wash it out or not. (Usually when it feels like there's just TOO much leftover product in my hair. Mostly I just rinse my hair under the shower)
In the morning:
1: Wash face with Checks+Balances face wash or Never a DUll Moment face wash. Depending on the day, Modern Friction Scrub. Apply A Perfect World hydrating tonic. Apply Plantidote face serum and A Perfect World Skin guardian. Moisturize with A Perfect World moisturuzer. (Yeah all this stuff is from Origins lol)
2: Un wind hair from rollers, mist with water in a spray bottle if there is a lot of frizziness. Add some extra setting lotion and some mouse to keep shape. Style set curls in front into pompadour-style. Since I am inexperienced with the back, I'll put it up, and if the waviness is acting nice, leave as is. Spritz lightly with hairspray.
3: Apply Stay Tuned foundation w/foundation brush. Dot concealer on blemishes, and under eyes, and blend. Apply All+Nothing sheer powder. Apply Ginger Snap or Benefit's Dallas blush. Apply autmagically eyelining pencil in Fudge to upper eyelids, apply No-Show Taupe eyeshadow all over (lids and browbone), apply a brown shade on crease, add Twinkle eyeshadow for a touch of shimmer to brow bone, and then black mascara. Last but not least, line lips with red liner, and apply Poppy lipstick or my infamous Wet N Wild #905 lipstick. (Yea all that's form Origins too hehe. Except the W+W and Benefit of course ;) )
4: Get dressed for work! (Black pants and tshirt. Booo.) Or if it's a day off, wear a "crisp" looking outfit. :p

You know, reading all this makes me forget I do other things too.
Brush teeth, find glasses under the cat, or drop in eyedrops because I am the world's worst at taking contacts out (I have disposables, which you're supposed to take out every day, and pop in every morning, toss after 30 days. Yeah, right. I think I finally took out my last pair after 4 months, and my doctor is punishing me by not renewing my prescription for another month. "Your eyes need a rest" he said, "I don't like you wearing contacts that long" blah. In truth, I have some medication that makes my eyes too sensitive to light and contacts made it unbearable. He used it as an excuse. )
I don't go through the whole slathering lotion on hands/body/feet and wearing gloves and socks for hours, or the pumice stones on the tootsies, or the 3 week appointment for nails (when I go, I've been lax about my nails), the at home wax, the face masks, the hair care, the trips to the gym, the eyebrow upkeep, the additional health care for the corset (trust me, there's a ton involved with keeping the skin healthy)...you get the idea. I hate make-up, I'd love to be a man. All they have to do is drag out of bed and go. Grow a beard, don't shave.

When I tried vintage-i-fying (cold cream or soap, witch hazel, etc) , I ended up with mucho acne. I need the chemical exfoliants and benzoyl peroxide! So, I went back to modern times:
Morning
1. Shower, brush teeth, hair wash & condition every day (oily skin, oily hair)
2. Face: Proactiv cleanser or Paula's Choice Skin balancing cleanser plus a tablespoon of baking soda for exfoliating. Followed by 2% Beta Hydroxy Acid lotion (Paula's Choice) and 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide (either Proactiv or acne.org). Paula's Choice SKin Balancing Moisture gel (just eye area & neck if particularly oily day)
3. If acne-ridden day, I concel with Paula's Choice, the pink Besame blush and finish with Besame Loose Powder (love the vanilla scent).
4. Lipstick - lately either Besame Red Velvet or Merlot.
My hair's a bob, so I do little to it - just follow with a touch of the Neutragena Triple Moisture leave in Conditioner. I've never been able to do hair, and certainly not first thing in the morning.
Evening
1. Repeat #2 above. But - kudos to someone who suggested in an acne thread that only oil can dissolve oil (blackhead). I've been using DHC's Deep Cleansing Oil and I've seen some good results!
I guess the most vintage-y thing about my routine is Besame.

I've been very relaxed lately in my routine since having difficulty finding vintage-inspired maternity wear, but found a cute 30s inspired look yesterday and am bringing the old routine out of retirement today.
Here's the routine:
Get up about 2 hours before I need to start getting ready.Use a headband to hold hair back.Eat a bowl of cereal w/banana and drink a glass of milk.
Play on computer, surf old powder room topics on the fedora lounge and resurrect them.Think about staarting a thread about sweaters.
For day,I like to wear what I've dubbed as my fresh-face 40s girl look.
1. Cleanse face with Eminence sweet red rose cleanser and moisturize with Eminence rosehip whip moisturizer.(High grade 100% organic line) Remove headband.
2.Hot shower, wash and condition hair last in tepid water.(Hot water fades reds)
3.Moisturize with a gardenia scented lotion(don't like to wear perfume to work in case any clients are sensitive to fragrance, but the lotion is very light)
4.Blowdry pixie cut for about 2 minutes and then add Texture Twist by Pureology(another high grade organic line)sweep hair to the side using fingers with a low part and tuck the sides sleekly.Takes maybe another minute.
5.Brush and floss.
6.Conceal under eyes and use Bare Minerals with a soft fluffy brush.
7.Apply an auburnish shade of eyeshadow to brows with a brush and then a light dusting of an almond shade of eyeshadow to entire lid.Add maybelline black mascara and curl lashes.
8.Apply poppy blush by Mac to the apples of my cheeks lightly.
9.Fill in and line lips with Mac spice lipliner and then mix a coral and red lipstick to make a coraly red shade, apply with a lipliner brush.
10.Get dressed, add pearls, change purse to match ensemble, lose keys while changing purse, run around like mad looking for keys only to find I already put them in new purse or I am actually holding them in my hand.
Wake up, wince because my back has stiffened up and my dodgy shoulder hurts.
Get up, do the zombie impression toward the en suite....ummmmm, I mean, glide in the most dignified manner to the bathroom!
After doing what we all do when we awake, I clean my teeth then go downstairs and have brekkie.
I clear up a bit (because I still haven't found a cleaner yet. Boooo.) and then shower. Do teeth again.
Face gets scrubbed/exfoliated with Lush's Angels on Bare Skin, body gets washed with either a Lush shower gel (Old Blue Skies Is Back is the current fave if I'm not going to be putting perfume on after. If I am, it tends to be something citrussy such as Olive Branch...which is divine) and a shower scrunchy. Then comes the de-fuzzing using MMU's Persephone's Kiss or Bulgarian Rose shaving cream (again, depending if I am going to be wearing Chanel or not after!).
If my hair needs washing etc. I use either dead sea shampoo and conditioner from a little shop in Yorkshire; the stuff smells of dead fish in the bottle but it works brilliantly...and the smell vanishes once it is used! Or I use B Never Serpentine/Tangle combo. However, I've gone off the B signature scent, so might add some EOs to the products!
What next? Oh yes, out of the shower and on with the moisturisers. Yes, plural. Here's the list:
Face - Origins; Perfect World
Eyes - Lush; Enchanted Eye Cream
Neck - Lush; Mirror Mirror
Lips - pure unadulterated shea butter or Pussy Pucker Pots Vanilla Vulva lip balm (!)
Body - Fresh Body Market; Cherry Papaya Body Butter
Elbows, knees, heels - Fresh Body Market; Vanilla Granola Body Cream
Hands - Origins; Make A Difference Hand Cream
Nails, cuticles; Pussy Pucker Pots Vanilla Vulva lip balm
Then it's time for make up! But before I start, I apply some MAC Prep & Prime to give me a good, even canvas with which to work. :D
Foundation - Lily Lolo; Blondie
Concealer - Lily Lolo; Blondie Concealer
Finishing Powder - Lily Lolo; Translucent Silk
Eyeshadow - Lily Lolo; Star Dust Highlighter
Eyeliner - MAC; Black Black pigment mixed with a binder
Mascara - B Never; Black
Eyebrows - MAC; Black Black pigment used dry
Blusher - Lily Lolo; Candy Cane
Lip Liner - B?©same; red
Lipstick - MAC; Russian Red
If I've washed my hair, I now either comb it out and leave it to dry if I want the Bettie Page look (my hair is very thick and wavy) or I'll blow dry it then straighten it using GHDs. If I want it more curly, I'll spritz it with setting lotion (I forget the name of it), roll it up, wait for it to dry and pray the doorbell doesn't ring! If I haven't washed my hair, I'll either just brush it, straighten it or maybe put it into a ponytail.
Then it's a quick spritz with perfume (Chanel Coco Mademoiselle) and on with the clothes. Sometimes stockings go on perfectly first time, another time it might take me ten minutes to get my seams straight.
I know this all sounds as though it takes a hideously long time but the reality is that it's about 90 mins to two hours tops. Since I don't have children at home and I work for myself (usually 9-11 hours a day), I reason that I am perfectly entitled to spend this time on myself. Why shouldn't I? :p

On an average day, I:
- shower, washing face with either Dove or Neutrogena, depending on the time of the year and a buff-puff
- spray hair with root-booster, blow-dry until semi, dry, finish fringe standing up, using a comb
- put hair up with a hair stick (unless I'm going out, in which case I start in with hot rollers)
- apply perfume (usually Ralph Lauren's Romance)
- apply foundation and concealer, then powder, then more concelaer and powder under the eyes and on any spots
- fill in/shape brows
- apply black or dark brown liquid eyeliner (top lid only)
- apply highlighting powder, blush, then a soft brown shadow
- apply silicone pre-mascara prep
- brush teeth
- gently curl fringe, finish off with light mist of hair spray
- get dressed
- (if going out, remove rollers and curl any wonky ends before finishing off with a light mist of hair spray)
- apply black mascara
- run around, collecting everything I need for work and the gym
When I get to work, I usually curl my lashes on the first trip to the bathroom :o

[QUOTE=GOK]Face gets scrubbed/exfoliated with Lush's Angels on Bare Skin, body gets washed with either a Lush shower gel (Old Blue Skies Is Back is the current fave if I'm not going to be putting perfume on after.
Oh I love Lush!!!:) They brought back Snowcake soap and Snow Fairy gel for Christmas, and I've been stocking up.:D
For me, I wash my face, am currently trying to find a decent cleanser. Brush teeth. Moisturise with oil of olay, and am looking for a new sunscreen, since I started reacting to mine:rage:
MAC studio fix powder foundation
Jest eyeshadow, and Swish on the crease
Fiberrich mascara
Fill in brows with some random pencil I picked uplol
Lips are either MAC Ruby Woo, or NewYork Apple. With Softlips balm underneath and or on top, depending on how dry my lips are.
Perfume is currently Thierry Mugler Alien
Nails are clear or sheer pink as I can't find a red that looks good on my stubby fingerslol
Then the hair goes into a sloppy bun, cause I can't figure out the 40's hair:(
And the silly stylist I went to gave me the whole heroine chic look:eek: , the dark color was fab, but the layers were limp and I can't do anything with them.
At night,
Remove everything with whatever I'm trying, while in shower
Lather with Snowcake or Snow Fairy:D
Brush teeth
Moisturise with Lubriderm Sea Kelp lotion, and face with oil of olay age defying(or something like that) How sad I'm not even 21 and worried about wrinkles!:o
Any tips on the hair problem would be great, I'm trying to figure out how to do the rolls at the front sides.:)

Wow. This is great. Its nice to see other gals spend as much time (if not more) on their makeup as I do!
Mine consists of...
Brush teeth
Wash face with DHC soap bar.
Apply light layer of virgin olive oil and DHC Eye Bright
Let that soak in then apply DHC Velvet Skin Coat (It really preps the skin for makeup by smoothing it out, filling in creases and/or small acne scars.) I put it on my eyelids and my lips too.
Smoke a ciggy while it all soaks in and whatnot.
Smear on whatever brand of foundation I am currently using, followed ALWAYS by a coat of Coty Airspun powder in Translucent.
Some shade of blush (depends on mood)
Eyeshadow (Mostly tan shades, and maybe green sometimes)
Eyeliner (Rarely liquid, usually kohl)
Mascara (Lengthening or plain old stuff)
Then lipliner (Some kind of red) Around and inside lip line. Cover my whole mouth.
A little bit of powder on the lips, blow off, top with coat of Ruby Red from some limited edition Elizabeth Taylor set.
Blot, powder, repeat.
Then comb out hair (Rag curls) Spritz with curl-shaping gel spray, dab of Blue Waltz on pulse points, and done!:p

Well, as I mentioned in my last post, I am searching for a good cleanser, and after reading all you ladies' glowing reports of cold cream I thought I'd try, so I picked up a Pond's Normal to Dry skin cold cream.
I must admit I was very skeptical about putting lotion on my face to remove the layer of oil, makeup, dead skin, dirt, dust and car exhaust  from my face, but I think I'm converted, I had it on for a mere sixty seconds, and all my mascara was completely melted off! my makeup was smearing the jar as i was applying it. and my skin is so smooth now, not at all tight even after some serious Mint Julep scrubbing!!!!:D
Thanks for your posts ladies, I'll update as I use more of it, but it seems like I'm on my way to pretty skin thanks to y'all.:D

I try to be low maintenence, but i like products that work.this is my routine right now:
1.) Cleanse in a.m. with L'occitane olive daily cleanser
2.) moisturize with L'Occitane Olive Radiance Moisturizing Cream/or Honey Face Cream.
3.) put on eye cream (either L'Occitane or Avon)
4.) use a cover stick to even out spots
5.) apply eyeshadow, black Mascara, Besame rouge, and Besame Merlot lipstick
That's it for face in the a.m.
for the rest of me:
1.) wash hair with Kiss MY Face shampoo
2.) wash body with Camay beauty bar on a scrubby mitt
3.) cover myself head to toe in Calypso Cocoa butter body lotion
Hair right now is a pixie cut:eusa_doh: (don't ask) to which i goop with Bed head manipulator and let hair dry naturally( I have wavy hair so this works ok.
at night, i wash face again apply the honey cream eye cream, crabtree&Evelyn Nantucket handcream...and off to beddie bye.
about twice a week, i use my foot spa and use all my "footworks" stuff that i get from Avon and give myself a pedicure.:)
I don't think i could handle any more than that!

Hello ladies!
Time for an update! I've been using the Pond's cold cream for nearly a week, and I love, love, love it! Thanks for the great tip:D A little history: my skin is your average laet teens early twenties skin, but two and a bit weeks ago I got diagnosed with a skin infection caused by a particularly unpleasant break out, I was treated with anti biotics (UGH) but I still had some discoloration and some pretty big bumps, I decided last Sunday to try Pond's, and now, five days later the discoloration is gone, the spots that were left over are dowm to pin point size, and my skin is so velvety my make up just slides on! Pretty soon I may not even need it!!!:D
Thanks again ladies for the great tip:eusa_clap

After reading all the raves about Pond's Cold Cream, I decided to give it a try CVS was out of Pond's, but had their store brand. According to the price tags on the shelf, the CVS brand is a lot cheaper.
Ingredients: Mineral oil, water, beeswax, ceresin, sodium borate, fragrance, carbomer.
I also picked up a new tube of Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask and a pack of cotton pads for applying witch hazel.
This evening, I cleaned my face with the cold cream, then used the witch hazel and the mint julep mask, then moisturizer. I'll try using the cold cream/witch hazel/moisturizer twice a day for a while and see how it goes.
How often do you ladies recommend using the mint julep mask?

We seem to have the same exact routine. I use the cold cream in the morning, then again at night, but at night I do it twice, then do the witch hazel toner. I personally only do the mask about once a week, or as a spot treatments when needed.

Leslie... How has the CVS brand work in comparison to the Pond's? The reason why I ask is that I had purchased the Walgreen's brand (same ingredients) and it made me break out. So I am assuming that even though the ingredients are the same the amounts of each are different. The generic was thicker and waxier. I didn't like it. As soon as I went back to Pond's my skin improved a lot.

I've never tried the Pond's, so I have no basis for comparison. After I've used the CVS brand for a few days, I'll let you all know how it's going. If it doesn't seem too good, I'll get some of the Pond's and try that.
I have a couple of spots I will dab some of the mint julep mask on before bed.

I don't know if this has already been posted about and if it has I'm sorry. :eusa_doh:
I was wondering what were some of the wartime gals' secrets for puffiness (bags) and dark circles under their eyes. I know there is the old cucumber trick, but is there something a bit better? The older I get the more inset my eyes have become and the skin under my eyes has gotten thinner which emphasises the pretty dark purple shade of blech. :( Boo. I get enough sleep... too much most of the time (12-16 hours)
Tips? Tricks?
Is it really as simple as diet? Which in my world of sugars and food sensativity it really isn't that simple! LOL

A cool teabag also helps with puffiness, as does a cold spoon (pop one in the freezer for a few minutes to chill.) There are different creams you can try as well, but I find that a good concealer is your best bet (dark circles really show up on my fair skin as well.) You might try Max Factor’s Pan-Cake makeup—I find it really works well for this purpose, and it’s not at all expensive :)

I alternate the Walgreens' brand cold cream with Pond's, and although I notice a definite difference in texture (the Pond's is definitely smoother and creamier, more whipped), I have never had breakout problems with either one, and I haven't noticed a difference in performance.
I actually just changed my facial routine - AGAIN. I'm one of those product whores who likes trying new stuff, so I'm constantly switching. I also got tired of spending $14 every 2 weeks for the Olay scrub I was using, and I noticed that the Olay routine wasn't helping my blackhead situation at all, whereas with cold cream they were kept to a minimum. So, back I went!
Anyway, here's my latest routine:
Evening/after work/before bed:
- Cold cream - apply and tissue off twice
- Witch hazel toner
- Burt's Bees Radiance night cream and eye cream
- Sometimes I alternate this last step with Burt's Bees Carrot Nutritive Day Cream
Morning:
- Burt's Bees Soap Bark & Chamomile deep pore cleansing cream
- Burt's Bees Peach & Willowbark deep pore scrub
- Alternate with Burt's Bees citrus facial scrub
- Witch hazel toner
- Beyond Belief Vita C+ facial serum
- Olay complete moisture cream with SPF (sometimes mixed with a bit of Burt's Bees Carrot Day Cream if my skin is exceedingly dry)
- Olay Regenerist eye serum or Burt's Radiance eye cream
- Apply makeup
I'd like to use a Burt's moisturizer for daily use, but unfortunately none of them contain SPF. :(
I also use the Queen Helene Mint Julep mask about once a week, and try to use a home microdermabrasion kit a couple of times a week. I'm really interested in trying the one the Healing Garden has out, since it is bamboo instead of aluminum oxides.

Oh, me too! I am always looking for that "magic" product--my mother tells me I am just like my grandmother, who had tons of lotions and creams and whatnot around her house :)
I actually switched up my routine--I am now using the Walgreen's version of Olay Beauty Fluid. I love it--it works great under makeup and has not caused any breakouts or irritation.
I've also switched up my foundation to Max Factor Pan-Cake, topped with Coty Airspun. This may be my perfect makeup--the color is just right (despite appearing to be a brilliant shade of orange in the pan), the finish is so velvety, and the coverage is perfect--full, but incredibly natural looking.

I just want to warn you about the cool teabag trick. I tried this once, using what I thought was just tea, meaning that as far as I knew there was no herbal anything in the blend. It felt nice on my eyes but the next morning I woke up and my eyes were puffy, red, and nearly swollen shut. I do have some seasonal allergies; namely to ragweed. After some further research I found out that chamomile is related to ragweed and some people with allergies can have a reaction to chamomile tea. I'm guessing that the tea had some chamomile in it, but it's funny, because no matter what the tea, I never have a reaction when I drink it.
So--just a head's up. Maybe you're lucky and you don't have plant allergies, but I would definitely advise using pure tea. As for me, I'm sticking to cold spoons and cucumber slices. :)
P.S. I've had a bad history with my eyes and allergies. For my junior prom I wore a white gardenia in my hair and woke up the next morning with an awful reaction in one eye. I thought it was the eyeshadow I'd worn, but it must have been the pollen from the flower!

I use it to remove my makeup, then cleanse afterwards with Aveda Botanical Kinetics Cleanser. I love the combination, because the cold cream is very nice on my skin but I don't like the film it leaves, and the cleanser is extremely gentle. Of course then I slather on a 2% benzoyl peroxide cream (and a botanical maoisturizer for sensitive skin).
However, this routine is REALLY working, since I have finals AND my period coming up but my skin is clear!

I have been using the tip I picked up on the old summer and pimples thread since, well, the summer and have had about 90% fewer breakouts. MK told mysterygal which was substantiated by juniper, jitterbugdoll and fortworthgal: hot or warm water and a washcloth. Plain water. I wear makeup and this takes it and all the other gunk off. Saves me money too since I tried this before trying the cold cream tip.

Dancing Sweetie... I was really hoping that the generic brand would work nicely since it was much kinder to my wallet than Pond's... but it didn't really help me like the Pond's did. Now, I have to say I have SUPER sensative skin, so it may work just as nicely as the Pond's for normal skin, but not mine. :( I have also been trying the Jergen's face cream. It is less than $3.00 for a jar... but I think it may have too much fragrance for my skin.
Oh and thanks on the comment about my new avatar. I can't wait until I can start shooting myself like that! :)
JitterBugDoll... Any flavor of tea? I think I have some old green tea packets I could use. I bought it to help in weight loss, but I can't stand tea so they went unused. If nothing else... I can easily freeze a spoon. :) Thanks! Also, do you use the Max PC all over your face or just as a concealer?

I use the cold cream as a cleanser. I apply it to my dry face, then tissue it off. Then I apply a second layer, let it soak in for about a minute, and tissue off again. Sometimes I remove it with a warm washcloth instead, it just varies. Then I follow up with some witch hazel toner on a cotton pad to remove the oily residue, and my night cream.
I do this routine in the evenings. In the morning when I shower, I use a "regular" cleanser. You can use cold cream for makeup removal only, OR you could use it in place of a regular cleanser. I also don't think it is only for dry skin. My skin is combination and I actually found that the cold cream helped with greasiness on my nose and chin. You just need to see what works best for you.

I just love reading all about your beauty routines.
I have combo skin, dry on my cheeks and oily in my T zone. I discovered two products that keeps the shine off my face.
Clinac O.C. oil control gel...I've gotten this at my local CVS. You have to ask about it at the pharmacy. You don't need a perscription for it but it will be something they might have to order in for you.
And recently I found a product that Clinique makes called acne solutions. It is very similar to the Clinac O.C. and really keeps the oil down.
I use the clinique product after my moisterizer and before my foundation in the morning.
As for acne treatments my doc. put me on a product called metro gel that I use on my face before bed. Has worked wonders for me and my PMS outbreaks.
And I have to try the Ponds cold cream!:D

I too, jumped on the cold cream bandwagon. I picked up the original Pond's, a bottle of Thayer's Rose Witch Hazel, and plain Humphreys Witch Hazel just in case I needed something a little stronger to tone with.
I used the cream religously all weekend. My was skin soft and very matte. This morning I was worried that I might be getting a filmy build up on my face, so I chickened out and used my normal cleanser with a scrubbing cloth. Now my TZone is REALLY shiney.
So I guess my question is, if you have combo skin with an oily tzone, do you need to clarify every now and then, or is the build up all in my head?
CanadaDoll
12-11-2006, 05:19 PM
I too have a very oily T-zone, but after trying the Pond's I have not gone anywhere near my old salicylic acid cleanser, cause I found it only made things worse. If you feel a little too shiny take a piece of tissue and separate the layers, and use it as an inexpensive blotting paper. I also use powder.
But trust me stick to the Pond's, I'm still in the crazy horomonal skin stage, especially with final exams now, and I have never had better looking skin.:D

I think it is important to remember that even if you're using cold cream, you still need to exfoliate, either chemically (peel) or physically (scrub). I use a scrub each day. Last time I visited my esthetician I was only using Pond's and witch hazel and the Nivea cream on my face, and she read me the riot act. Since then I've been exfoliating and using a better moisturizer, and I've had very good results.

I don't think all of us can exfoliate daily - my skin is far too sensitive! I think the muslin cloth I use to take the cold cream off with works ok as a daily exfoliator though and is not too harsh.
I just wanted to add to wibblebird's comment about the increase in sales - after reading the forums on acne.org and seeing how dead set against mineral oil everyone seems to be and how it is such a big no no for acne suffers, I really want to tell everyone on there of the benefits I have had. I know cold cream might not suit everyone, but if it can help even just 10% of acne suffers then that's still a big portion of people who are going without because of the mineral oil phobia!

- Cold cream - apply and tissue off, twice
- Witch hazel toner
- Burt's Bees Radiance night cream and eye cream
- Sometimes I alternate this last step with Burt's Bees Carrot Nutritive Day Cream
Morning:
- Burt's Bees Soap Bark & Chamomile deep pore cleansing cream
- Burt's Bees Peach & Willowbark deep pore scrub
- Alternate with Burt's Bees citrus facial scrub
- Witch hazel toner
- Beyond Belief Vita C+ facial serum
- Olay complete moisture cream with SPF (sometimes mixed with a bit of Burt's Bees Carrot Day Cream if my skin is exceedingly dry)
- Olay Regenerist eye serum or Burt's Radiance eye cream
- Apply makeup
I also use the Queen Helene Mint Julep mask about once a week, and try to use a home microdermabrasion kit about once a week. I'm really interested in trying the one the Healing Garden has out, since it is bamboo instead of aluminum oxides.
So, I cleanse with cold cream basically at night, and not in the mornings. I would exfoliate after the cold cream and before a toner.

The mint Julep Scrub is very nice too, I scrub after I remove the cold cream, because I find it softens the dead cells, making them exfoliate more easily.

I have to admit I am a little lazy...with school, work and a 16yr old I just hate to take the time to remove makeup. So heres my routine...
Evening:
Brush/floss/rinse
Wash face with Cetaphil on a wash cloth (exfoliates and skin does not dry)
Moisturize eye area with Clinique's anti aging eye cream
Use either Clinique Daily Moisturizer, Oil of Olay sensitive or Besame's new rose moisurizer
Morning:
Brush/floss/rinse
Rinse face in shower with water only
Moisturize with items from above
Moisturize eye area with Clinique's anti aging eye cream
Use tinted SPF 25 sunblock from Clinique
Use Besame's bisque foundation as concealer around nose, mouth and any red areas
Apply Clinique transparency 2 loose powder
Shape eyebrows with brush
Apply my favorite red lipstick, Besame Red
Blow dry hair if washed/brush and put up if not
After all this I'm good to go...this is pretty much what I do on a daily basis. If I'm going somewhere special it is the full face.

My current routine:
Mornin':
-Coffee & scrambled eggs on rye toast / cornflakes in jadite cereal bowl (how vintage!)
- Peruse the internets, sew what needs sewing, finish schoolwork.
- Shower with Philosopy's Cinnamon Buns.
- Wash/scrub face with Cetaphil plus a bit of baking soda.
- Moisturize with Lubriderm Daily Moisture.
- Make-up, which is the standard MAC powder, eyeshadow in a reletively 1930s brown/bronze shade, cream blush, etc.
- Brush with Marvis Ginger-Mint:
http://sesto-senso.com/margingr.jpg
... which has the best packaging & taste ever.
Night-time:
-Pond's Cold cream with a hot washcloth.
-Queen Helene's Mint Julep Mask, which is utterly fabulous; every 3 days or so.
- Paint/touch up nails (usually in the bare-moon style, which means at least a half-hour process!)

See, I absolutely disagree with this 100%. I *never* exfoliate because I think it is horrifically bad for the skin. Well I say never, I often remove my cold cream with a wash cloth because that's how I was told was the best and most beneficial way.
Particles in scrubs are usually pieces of pumice, or kernals or salt or something like that...sharp edged little blighters that can microscopically tear your pores and skin leaving it abraded and your pores showing worse than ever. If you looked at your face under a microscope after using a scrub like that you'd see the tears very clearly. Using a scrub on zitty skin is also a big no no because you are opening the zits, dragging the bacteria around and working it into the aforementioned tears and could create a whole new load of zits.
Chemical peels are the same - using it too often is going to erode your skin and you risk ending up with red, sore patches. I would personally never want to abrade my skin so harshly. I treat it pretty gently. If you must use a scrub, use one with man made beads with a smooth texture, or use a wash cloth to gently slough off the dead skin. Of course if you have been advised personally by a professional then ignore me, but for the majority of people, gentle is better.

I never exfoliate either, and my skin is better for it. I did, and its a real good way of making your skin uneven by tearing layers away so you never have an even layer of skin. Its like sandpaper on your face.
I dont use a wash cloth either (kinda the same thing). I was told you clean your skin with your fingers. I blot dry everything from my face to hands and so forth. Rubbing can irritate skin. So far its working for me.
The real key to great skin...lots and lots of water, and a well applied sunscreen. Knowing how to apply your Spf (blotting, not rubbing) is just as important as using it.
Id also say wash and repeat. Most gals I know just wash their face once. The first wash is to get the goop you put on your face off, the second wash is to cleanse the skin.
Alright, Im done with my rant. :o

You know those extremely detailed diagrams you often find in vintage beauty books, with arrows showing in which directions you should rub in your cold cream in order to smooth out wrinkles or something?
Unfortunately I can find a picture on the internet. But I was wondering if any of actually apply your cold cream that way?
I also remember having seen footage of women sitting in long rows at a beauty school or something, learning this by heart, it's hilarious!

I just slap mine on, massage in a circular motion and then remove with a warm muslin cloth. I'D be interested to hear how it was done originally!

I dunno... honestly I'd be pretty surprised if a skincare professional or dermatologist advised you to *never* exfoliate. Exfoliation improves circulation, clears pores, and removes dead skin cells. Believe it or not, it is possible to treat your skin *too* gently! On the same line, over-exfoliation is also bad. If you're using a scrub like St. Ives or something, then yes, it will scratch up your skin and do very little good.
That being said, skincare is largely "to each his own" so you have to find what works best for you. I use very gentle scrubs without harsh particles (a MUST) in minimal amounts, and have had excellent results. I very, very rarely have acne - of course this is also largely genetics, I don't have over-sensitive skin, my skin is very even, and I get a lot of compliments on my complexion. When I was only using cold cream and a washcloth to remove it, my skin looked okay to the naked eye, but to my esthetician, it was dry and dull with layers of dead cells and clogged pores. So, that routine wasn't enough exfoliation for me personally. Since I've gone back to regular exfoliation, my skin has turned around 100% and I no longer have those issues. But again, skincare is largely a personal matter of finding what works for you, and this is what works for me. I wouldn't randomly decide that you should never exfoliate, unless you've been advised to do so by a skincare professional or a dermatologist. Just be gentle about it!
I agree that sunblock and water is important, regardless of the rest of your routine.

When I first started using cold cream not long ago, I would remove it with a wet washcloth. After awhile I got lazy and was just using a tissue. I noticed when I did that my flaky patches came back and my skin started getting yucky again. I've gone back to the wet washcloth and it seems to be helping. I think the washcloth exfoliates better and gets all those dead cells off, which makes my skin look dull and flaky. I used to use a scrub every day, but that was just too much. This way I am exfoliating a little every day for a nice glow.

Ooh, lg if you ever want to stock up this (http://www.beautynaturals.com/product.asp?ref=SL-MU) place does them much cheaper.
But I heard that the muslin is the same as baby squares- you can go and buy those very large muslin squares for burping babies and cut them up - a fraction of the price. But I haven't tried that for myself yet.

I've got to pipe in. It's been about a month since I started my experiment with cold cream, and I've got to say...Wow! I've got oily skin that gets cystic acne monthly. I've been using Proactiv solution regularly, but that's been getting expensive, and my skin seems to be getting oilier.
Well, my routine is now Proactiv in the morning and simply cold cream and a warm washcloth at night. Since I started doing that, my skin has improved LOADS. Still have a few blackheads, but my nose and chin are no longer covered. No breakouts whatsoever. What's most amazing to me is how my skin feels - dewy, soft, but never, ever oily any more.
I think I may even give up the Proactiv in the morning now, switch to something cheaper. And all thanks to the ladies here who have been such supporters of a "vintage-i-fied" beauty routine. Thanks so much!

Just to pipe in for a health hint...
I used to use a muslim cloth but have switched to white wash cloths. If you use a muslim cloth it is recommended to sterilize it often. You do this by making it damp and sticking it in the microwave for about a minute. But I found that with cold cream, the muslim gets mucked up and is hard to clean. I switched to white wash cloths. I bought a ton for next to nothing at a discount chain (*coughwalmartcough*). I think of these as disposable. I use them and toss them in the wash with my other whites so they get a good hard scrubbing. Then when they start to look yucky I just toss them with no guilt.
I guess since I'm on here I should put my beauty schedule:
Morning:
*Wash with Purity by Philosophy (I get the 3.5 fl. oz. "trial size" at Sephora for $10 and it last forever)
*Moisturize face and neck with Oil of Olay
*Brush my teeth alternatine Listerine toothpaste or Supersmile whitening toothpaste. Its the best! www.cosmeticsolutions.com
*Oil my hair (long wavey). Right now I'm using an Indian produced called Amla by Dabur. Its great and super cheap at the India market.
*Make up for the day. Depends on what I'm doing and such. I use MAC products mostly. I have rice powder I picked up at he cosmetic solutions too thats good for the no-make-up-days which means rice powder, lip gloss, and mascara.
Done!
Night:
*Jergens cold cream. I put on my face, neck, and underarms. Soak in a few minutes
*Scalp oil. Right now I'm using a cheapy tea tree scalp stimulater from Sallys
*Once a week I'll do a sugar scrub
*Shower using the soap de jour. I believe in having nice soaps. They are not expensive and you are worth it. I have about 4 soaps to choose from in the shower.
*Wash hair with alternating cheapy shampoo/conditioner (gets out all the oils I put in) and Ojon hydrating shampoo/conditions. Once a week I use thier hair mask. Check them out at Sephora.com. They rock.
*Warm and wet wash cloth and gently exfoliate/remove cream from face, neck, and underarms in that order.
*Pat dry then lotion up
*Braid my hair (shoulder blade length). This is my wet set.
*Moisturize face and neck with Oil of Olay
*Apply lash builder Lipocils by Talika. Very expensive. But I got a gc from Sephora and always wanted to try it.
*Lotion up tooties and moisturize cuticles. Currently using Burts bees and love it.
*Read a romance novel till hubby comes to bed with the baby's (doggies)
*Once a month I henna my hair. I like using "natural" products so I don't color my hair.
I get a getting-ready-for-bed time. Hubby plays online poker so I can do my girly things in private. Going to bed takes about an hour but its my calm down time.

okay-- I am one of the acne prone girls, so I am going to try the ponds. Maybe I am overstripping my skin with all the acne products and making it worse. I like the idea of removing it with a warm washcloth then a witch hazel toner....but I hate the smell of the regular dickinson witch hazel....what else can be used that is non stripping toner like that? I can't find the burt's bees toner anywhere. Also looking for an eye cream to keep the fine lines down that is sensitive enough that my eyes don't sting and cry...any reccs? I love reading everyone routine...makes me feel like a girly girl.

Try Thayer's Rose Witch Hazel. It has a nice rosey scent and no alcohol to dry out or irritate your face.
The cold cream does take some getting used to. Especially if you've grown accustomed to using acne washes and having "squeaky" clean skin. Once I stopped using them and started using the cold cream, my skin did a complete 180.
I have/had your textbook acne prone combination skin, with a shiney Tzone. I use the Cucumber Ponds in the morning and tissue it off. I follow that with very light swipe of the rose witch hazel, then apply my make up. While I'm not shine free all day, I'm only touching up my powder once around lunch time now.
At night I use Original Ponds and tissue it off before getting in the tub. Once I get the majority of the make up and grime off with the tissue, I add another thin layer and leave that on as a mask while I soak. That layer gets the warm washcloth treatment ;) I follow that up with another swipe of toner and some oil of olay for sensitive skin.
My skin is so soft and smooth now. I had no idea how rough my face was until I stopped p*ssing it off with harsh cleansers. I wish I would have know about this years ago. It really has changed my appearance for the better!

I originally started with the Pond's Normal to dry I guess it's their original formula, and loved it, I have oily skin so I thought I'd see if the Cucumber one for oily skin did me any better, and I tell ya there is nothing worse than finishing up a product you don't like!:eusa_doh: It wasn't as good for my skin as the regular, go figure[huh] Happily I got back to the original Dry skin Pond's and it is doing me miracles!
Skin is very much to each her own, so experiment and don't hesitate to go back to one you loved.

It is hard to adjust, I did it tonight and did the warm washcloth and the regular witch hazel. I will have to get a routine worked out for am/pm. okay-- I am ordering the rosewater witch hazel today to add to my regimen. Day 2 on the Ponds and going well so far using it at night to remove makeup. I still need to find a good eye cream for night time. All the anti-aging eyes creams are so pricey, I hate to buy/try without knowing what it is like. I need something with not much fragrance, as it tends to make my eyelids red and stings...I am using olay spf 15 all over for day, but at night I like to anti-age my eyes and neck area. I can use stronger stuff on my neck, but what are you guys using around the eyes to battle crows feet *ACK*??

Crows feet??? whats that??? :D
Seriously thought, I don't think there is a cheap eye cream. All the ones I see are pricy. I have gotten into the habit of using Vitamin C eye serum from Sallys for eyes and then I mix a squirt of it with my moisturizer for my neck. The Vitamin C is supose to combat free radicals that cause cell damage and encourage collegen growth. Whatever. But I'm 34 so I haven't seen serious crows feet yet. I wear contacts so they are sure to hit me eventually.
I guess no news is good news.

My morning ritual includes:
hair in ponytail until I shower
a glass of water/juice
breakfast (toast, yogurt, cheese, fruit are favorites)
wash hands with anti-bacterial melon scent liquid soap
put in contacts
brush teeth/tongue/lips with Colgate, floss, mouthwash
shower - pink scrubby pouf and Olay body wash, Pantene shampoo mixed with a little bit of green apple or coconut cheapie stuff for a nice smell
dry hair with round brush. make it flip.
Herbacin Chamomile silicone/glycerine hand cream on elbows and hands (I get it in Canada - good stuff!)
L'Oreal Fair Ivory foundation (with SPF 17) applied with a sponge (including a bit on the lips as a primer for lipstick)
L'Oreal translucent loose powder, applied with large body brush
Rimmel blush in a rose color, applied with natural hair brush
Revlon colorstay lipstick in Soft Cinnamon, Soft Sandalwood, or Red Velvet
Pantene non-aerosol hairspray
Powder scented deodorant
Jessica McClintock perfume
Night ritual:
wash hands with anti-bacterial melon scent liquid soap
take out contacts and store in solution
wash face with Ponds facial wipes (usually use two)
aloe vera gel moisturizer all over face
cherry Chapstick on lips (he usually steals some from me as "sugars", so I put on extra)
hair in a ponytail until bed
two glasses of water before actually getting in bed
After reading this thread, I'm interested in the Coty translucent powder. The stuff I'm using has a slight color to it that I don't like. I'm also interested in the Ponds. I used it when I did theatre, but I don't remember how my skin reacted to it. Might be time to revisit it.

okay, since I have been doing the ponds, I guess I should throw my routine in instead of just being a voyeur of everyone else's ;-)
AM:
rinse/brush teeth
wash face w/unscented Dove bar then olay or neutragena spf 15 sensitive skin (ie fragrance free) skin lotion....let that soak in while I let out dog, open curtains around house, peel a banana for my 2 yr old, etc....
physicians formula green concealer on blemishes (yes, sadly, almost always, even at 28), then regular concealer on blotchy areas.
coty loose trans. powder with a brush
comb and fill in any sparse areas in brows, curl lashes
black revlon colorstay liner in black (sometimes)
black mascara on top only (waterproof full and soft maybeliine right now)
rosebud lip salve (still haven't found my red yet, so no lipstick)
a little highlighter on the browbone and inner corners of eyes to feign awakedness
deodorant/sandalwood or primrose oil
usually out the door to teach yoga/pilates, so hair in bun or braids...
PM:
ponds cool classic cold cream-leave on for now
rinse/floss/brush teeth
shower (wash hair with aura rosemary mint s/c every third day)
witch hazel toner (soon to be the thayers rose!)
oil of olay anti aging cream on neck and dry areas of face, vita c beyond belief eye cream around eyes, more rosebud salve under nose if very dry, and on brows
a dab of mint julep or bye bye blemish on any angry spots
hand lotion (varies)
sleep with air in loose bun-- I hate this, but I fear that the oils of my hair will make my skin break out even worse (?)
phew-- now I feel a little high maintenance as I write it all down:rolleyes:
but it is actually all 30 minutes AM and 30-45 PM.

I'm a fashion designer/seamstress, and if I'm on a production run, a lot of this goes right out the window! :)
morning:
stumble into bathroom, remove rubberbands from braces, grumble at pinchey spots in mouth from rubberbands.
Brush teeth.
Go downstairs take meds, wash down with daily dose of Danactive. Get a diet coke and ice and take back upstairs for bath.
Decide on bath bubbles/bathbomb/oil/etc & run bath.
Wash face whilst bath is running. Usually with Clean & clear creamy cleanser, but 2-3x a week I use a Dove cleansing pillow so I can get extra exfoliation
(twice a week, bath is replaced with shower so hair can be washed and conditioned)
Soak in bath, read current trashy romance novel, drink diet coke. When done with diet coke, shave anything that needs shaved, rinse & get outta tub & dry off. ;)
Use Neutrogena Body moisturiser on arms, legs, back, any other dry skin.
Get dressed and do hair. Remove curler from frontlock if one's been worn overnight, arrange & pin pompadour and frenchtwist or bun. Use pins for more formal occasions or clips/hairsticks for more casual occasions.
Apply Olay Definity moisturiser to face and neck, eye gel to under eye area and eyelids.
Make-up. For simple everyday, just mascara and lippie, Lancome sheer Magnetique in 'Attitude' for a lighter colour or Revlon Super Lustrous in Volcanic Red, Scarlet Velvet, or Blackberry for brighter/darker shades.
For more 'done up' I'll add black gel eyeliner to my upper lashline(Make Up For Ever or MAC) after first applying Mac Paint in Bare Canvas to my entire eyelid.
PM routine:
change into jammies.
Take pm meds and wash down with milk
Take off makeup with an Olay Express Wet cloth, rinse (even though the packet says you don't have to) with cool water. Blot dry and apply a light night cream and the aforementioned eye gel.
Brush and floss teeth, put rubberbands on braces. For a little tmi, this alone can take a good 20 minutes when you have braces and are paranoid about getting them REALLY clean. ;)
If wearing hair clip/sticks, remove and put hair in arrangement more comfortable for sleeping. Re-roll frontlock if needed.
Use moisturiser on feet and put on cotton socks.
Dab lavender essential oil on temples if slightly headachey
Shuffle off ta bed!

I really like what Paula Begoun has to say about eye creams:
http://www.cosmeticscop.com/learn/art.asp?ID=185
I've always felt that eye creams are just moisturizers with more wax or something to make them thicker. I've found that my regular facial moisturizer (a gel moisturizer which doesn't have sunscreen by - you guessed it - Paula Begoun) does just fine to moisturize my eye area. I do have the odd wrinkle at age 35, but I attribute this to a lifetime of nearsightedness (squinting!) and the sleep deprivation my first child has caused over the last year.

I am extraordinarily pale and can wear Coty Airspun in translucent (the regular formula, not the extra coverage one--it's too dark.) If your face cream has hyaluronic acid in it, it will make your eyes puffier. Unless you don't have puffy eyes, just wrinkles, then it will puff up your wrinkles which might be what you want. Unless you don't have wrinkles.
Skin around the eyes is delicate. A thick cream is easy to pat on. Also, you don't want a thin cream running into your eyes.

I kind of like the idea of thicker formulation too...I don't think they are any magic potion or anything either, but I thought they were made for the thin sensitive eye skin. Most of the regular anti wrinkle creams say to avoid the eye/eyelid area. I know if I use anything with strong ingredients or fragrance around my eyes the skin gets red and itchy and peely (ew) It does seem like a rip off, I agree. The norm seems to be 20-30$ for like 0.5oz. and I have never tried any of them yet. I use my regular sensitive skin sunscreen lotion all over (eyes/neck included) for day, but I was thinking a wrinkle helper might be nice for eyes at night. I am only 28 but I think my sleeplessness, and squinting from photography, as well as extensive sun exposure/burns as a child have contributed to early crows feet (lucky me  )

I wanted to thank you ladies for your advice. Because of your recommendations, I bought Pond's classic cold cream. I figured I had nothing to loose. Nothing else I was doing was getting rid of a large break out on the right side of my face that I had for about 5 months  I had better skin at 16 than I do at 30! :rage:
I have now been using the cold cream at night which I remove with a warm wash cloth, I follow that with an herbal toner by Nivea that is alcohol free. I use an intensive moisture night cream by Oil of Olay (the 30 number has made me nervous lol ) In the morning I am using a mild foaming cleanser by Pond's and more toner. Of course Oil of Olay moisturizer with sunscreen finishes.
The difference in my skin is unbelievable. Within 2 days I could see a difference. I can count on one hand that number of new break outs I have had in the past month. My skin is smooth and soft and my coloring is more even. I feel like I can pull my hair away from my face again!
I can't thank you guys enough. I feel like a different lady! I am throwing away my salicylic acid astringent, lotion, spot treatment and apricot scrub!
Who would have thought, mineral oil and bee's wax?

I am extraordinarily pale and can wear Coty Airspun in translucent (the regular formula, not the extra coverage one--it's too dark.) However, I ordered the lightest shade Coty makes (Rachel No. 1) on Amazon and it is very light--a perfect ivory shade. I like this shade much better and it blends perfectly with my skin.
I tried a little of the powder today. It's way too dark for me. :( It needs to find a different home. First person to PM me about it gets it. I'll pay postage - just want it to have a good home, and can't return it to the store as I've used a bit of it.

I have bought me Ponds Cream with Cacao-butter cause I couldn´t find cold cream anywhere. I had seen German adds for it in one of my magazines from the 30s so it must have existed here in the past, but not anymmore. Anyway: If the cold cream is as good as the other cream I got me I can recommend it.
I actually don´t really like most creams cause they leave a greasy feeling on my skin but that one is perfect. Now that I passed the age of 25 I got to take a better care of my skin and since the cream wasn´t that expensive I gave it a try.
Every morning I apply it on my face in a thin layer and wait about 5 minutes till its all gone and than I put on my make up, my besame powder, eyeliner and mascara.

I wound up waiting for a bus for over half an hour yesterday(it never showed up), it's -18 out plus windchill. There was no wind shelter to be had, so I got really windburned, and probably a little frostbitten, on the skin of my face.
My cheeks in particular stung like the devil, I used my Pond's when heading to bed, as usual, and it soothed my skin like nothing else, my face today isn't even red anymore, much less the burning or peeling I've gotten before:eek:
Long story short I love my Pond's even more so now than I did before.:D Thanks so much ladies for all the input and reviews that led me to my face saver. And a special thank you to VanillaT for starting this thread, cause without it I might never have known.:D

My CVS store-brand cold cream was almost gone, so I went ahead and bought a jar of Ponds. I like the Ponds a lot better.
Packaging: The CVS brand cold cream jar has a sharp edge on the inside of the lip that makes it painful to get to the bottom of the jar. The jar itself is a flat white with a stuck-on paper label and a flat green lid. The lip of the Ponds jar is nice and smooth, and the jar itself is a pretty, slightly translucent white with a stuck-on label that looks painted, and a pearlescent green lid.
Product: Although the listed ingredients are identical, The Ponds is more smooth and creamy, lighter and easier to rinse off. The CVS brand is not as smooth, and a bit heavier and harder to rinse. The Ponds smells nicer, more expensive. The CVS...well, not quite right. I'm not sure whether it has gone bad, or is just a poor scent. My husband said "I can detect a hint of dirty diapers in here."
Price: This is the only place CVS wins. But not by enough...I'm buying Ponds from now on.

It seems like I'm the odd one out for whom this supposedly miraculous Pond's Cold Cream doesn't work. I was very impressed by the testimony given it on this forum, and since my skin is problematic, I thought "Well, this should be just the thing!" So I set out to the store, bought a jar, and used some that night. From the first, things were amiss, because although I did everything properly, it made my skin feel very heavy and clogged, and didn't mattify the skin's appearance afterwards. I was disappointed, but determined to stick it out, and hope for better results. I used it for about 1.5 weeks, and during that time my skin broke out and just in general behaved more badly than it has in a -long- while. I couldn't handle it anymore and have since quit, and gone back to my usual way of just using a bar of this soap:
http://www.basin.com/web-cart/customer/product.php?productid=16205&cat=251&page=1
It works wonderfully, and my face is clear and soft, and it's wonderful. I'm sad that a well regarded product wasn't able to work for me, but I'm glad I have something that does. :) ;)

I was thinking the same thing at first. My face had a small break out the first day. Then again, when ever you use a product that is supposed to clear your skin, you normally have some sort of breakout because its pulling all the dirt and such to the top of the skin.
This is what I do.
I use jergans cold cream, leave it on for about 5 minutes or so, then use tissue to wipe off. Even on days that I have used no make up and wash my face first theres a bunch of icky dirt. Then I use witch hazel to tone. In the mornings I use a moisturizer (generic oil of olay from Family Bargain Store)
I have been doing this for a few weeks and have noticed a deffinate softness, not so tight in my dry areas.
The other day I was accosted in the mall by one of the kiosk sellers selling dead sea salt products. "oh your hands are so dry do you soap them often?"
No, I told her, I work with my hands all day. "Rub this salt in your hands. Feal how it is softening it?, Now use this lotion, feel the difference?" I'm thinking of course theres a difference while I'm rubbing this into my skin, it needs time to dry to see if there is really a difference.
"Your face is so blotchy. You need to use this face peel. It will get rid of the black heads and red spots. See how it peels?" she asks while rubbing it on my arm. I told her let me walk around and I'd think about it. So then she goes into the whole she'll give me a deal, by the salt scrub, the lotion and she'll give me the face peel for $10 off. I'm all let me walk around. So then she keeps going on about giving me a deal and lowering the price, but keeps going back to my face. So I wound up buying the peel for 20 odd dollars (supposedly a 60 dollar jar) cuz she was so intemidating. Taller than my poor 5'5 buy at least 3 inches and skinny. Up in my face and all too.
Long story coming to an end, I am currently using that too, to see if there is any difference. And I am ticked too, cuz I thought my complection was actually looking pretty good that day!

That's too bad, that it made your skin worse, LadyStarDust! Just goes to show, no two faces are the same ;)
I am glad that you do have something that works for you, however!
I am curious what the difference is. Would be so interesting to be a scientist with unlimited money and figure out why it worked for me, but not for you. Of course, it would be biased since it wouldn't be a double blind study or random, but it would still be interesting :)
::begins scheming how to lure her co-workers unknowingly into a face cream trial study::
hummmmm ..... lol
Edit:
Faythe! How terrible! Everyone is sensative about their skin. I wouldn't put much stock in what she said. Its her job to make you so insecure that you buy her product, or else she doesn't get paid. Your skin looks lovely in your picture. It may take time for the cold cream regime to even out your skin coloring. I would have told her that her insults really offended me, and walked away. I bet if someone with perfect skin walked by, she would have said the same thing to them. Grrrrrr

I really hate those Dead Sea Salt sellers. Around here, their opening line is "Can I ask you a question?" as you walk past. I find a good strong "NO!" and not stopping does the trick. It's not rude; they don't want to ask you a question as they pretend, they just want to sell something. Don't let them intimidate you into buying if you don't want to; like spammers, if that selling technique works, they'll keep using it.

Man, I had a Clinique lady one time pull that crapola on me and I left. Immediately. I had been having a really bad time with my acne but I thought it was finally clearing up and here was this counter lady telling me that it was awful and that I really needed to scrub it. I walked away as fast as I could and my eyes were all tearing up.
Still makes me mad to think of it.

Most of the time I say NO to those kiosk salespeople, but every once in a while, if I'm feeling plucky, I'll let them give me a hand massage and THEN tell them NO!! Soooo bad!!! I'm never rude, though! It's not my nature.
But here's my beauty routine:
-Shower with Dove Soap. Anything else will give me a majour breakout of dermatitis :(
-Cover Girl liquid concealer in Ivory under my eyes. It's sealed with Cover Girl powder of the same colour.
-Draw on my eyebrows. YES. I'm one of THOSE people. ;) Cover Girl's Honey Brown is the offending colour.
-Dust on eyeshadow colour of choice. Currently I like putting hot pink blush on my lids. Just a little tiny bit, though!!
-Rim eyes with Cover Girl onyx eyeliner.
-Apply mascara, Maybelline in the pink container with the green handle, in black.
-Apply "Certainly Red" Revlon lipstick in a cupid's bow. My lips are natually bowed (which I LOVE!) so I don't need any lipliner.
-Spritz on some Bath & Body Works Body Spray and I'm good to go!
Yea, I'm very much a drug store kind of gal when it comes to cosmetics. I'm poor.

Oh yea, I meant to ask:
What exactly is "cold cream"?? What does it do? How do you use it?
I know that the ladies in my old movies would put it on their faces, but, believe it or not, I never investigated it! I guess I never took the time to seek it out because I know that if I ever used it, I'd get dermatitis all over my face...and I certainly don't want that. I've had it before -- it's not fun :(

My sisters and I still start giggling whenever we talk about the times our Mom would "cold cream our necks"!! For some reason, every now and then (this was back in the 50's) she would haul us in one at a time, make us lie down on the kitchen counter, and would slather cold cream all over our necks. Then she would take a dry towel and literally scrub the stuff off with the force of a truck driver!! The towel would invariably be brown and horrible by the time she was done, so I guess we really DID have dirty necks! It was pure torture at the time, ending with really red skin (but clean red skin!) We always wondered where she came up with that particular "beauty" routine!!

Cold cream is a strange mixture of mineral oil and beeswax and some other gunk. It is used to deeply clean the skin, removing makup, dirt, and other impurities from your skin and pores.
If you read through the thread, a few different ladies tell how they use it. Basicly, rub a bunch all over your skin massaging it in. Then either take a tissue or a warm wash cloth to remove it. Some gals repeat. Follow with a toner to remove any residue, and ta-da! Deep cleaned skin that is soft and moisturized. I use the washcloth and gently rub my face to exfoliate a bit.
Some gals only use it at night, others use both morning and night. I use it at night so that my gentle Ponds foaming cleanser removes any excess I may have missed with my toner.

Here's my current routine:
morning:
- after my shower, lotion my arms and legs with cucumber-aloe lotion
- dust with Crabtree and Evelyn lavender talc-free powder
- brush teeth with Tom's of Maine peppermint toothpaste (though next I want to try the ginger mint that someone was talking about earlier...where did you get it?)
- Dove deodorant
- use Pond's on my face and throat, remove with warm, wet washcloth, follow-up with Lancome toner
- for my hair: John Freida Corrective Style Mousse, Brilliant Brunette Shine Shock, Garnier Fructis gel with de-frizzer
- apply Revlon cream-colored eye shadow
- apply eyeliner (either brown Estee Lauder or black Cover Girl depending on the day), pluck/fill-in eyebrows as needed
- apply Neutrogena Weightless Volume mascara
- apply CoverGirl True Match concealer powder in Soft Ivory on my chin, temples and forehead (if they're red that day; sometimes I skip it)
- sometimes apply Max Factor LipFinity (I don't know the name but the color number is 110)
- dust with Coty Airspun powder (translucent)
- apply Armani Code perfume if I need an extra girly boost
- rub Nivea cream into hands to moisturize.
Night:
- brush teeth
- remove makeup with Pond's, rinse with wet washcloth
- lotion arms, legs, hands and feet
- sleep!
I'm still trying to get my routine pinned down since I'm trying out a bunch of different things to see what works best, but this seems to work pretty well. I picked up a lot of tips from this thread actually!

I can use stronger stuff on my neck, but what are you guys using around the eyes to battle crows feet *ACK*??
kate
I love Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Lotion (w/10% AHA) for around my eyes, nose-to-chin, neck & body. It even gets rid of blackheads and discolorations. It is about $10 for a huge 6oz bottle. Don't use it on your eyelids, and I don't use it on my cheeks or forehead, because it usually causes me a breakout there, even though I never breakout in those areas.

Bwahahaha. I love talking about makeup-y things.
Anyway.
Morning:
Wake up around 11 (This is my new summer schedule. XD), put in contacts and eye drops.
Apply cold cream, wipe off after five minutes with a really, really cute damp washcloth.
Apply a thin layer of vaseline to moisturize (I have about five different skin conditions that make my skin SUPER, SUPER dry and peely and it either takes prescription strength hydrocortisone or vaseline to moisturize it.) and let it sit for around twenty minutes, then pat off excess with tissue.
Apply white concealer. (Supaa pale! It covers the redness around my nose/chin/etc really well)
Blend until it's hardly noticable. Repeat three or four times.
Apply random pale foundation I manage to find.
Dust with Coty's Airspun loose powder.
Apply Prestige black pencil liner to inner rim of eyelids and then draw a semi-thick line in Prestige black liquid liner on the upper lid.
Apply random plum blush that I got a while ago that was on sale around my eyes. Like from the outer corners down to about the top of my cheek. It's very odd-sounding but has an interesting effect that I'm fond of. Melora Creager of Rasputina does the same thing, except she uses a more orangey blush. XD
If I don't do that then it's black eyeshadow with a little bit of shiny metallic silver eyeshadow, deep plum eyeshadow, red eyeshadow, or none at all if I'm trying to accentuate my mouth.
At this point I usually stop for a few minutes and doodle some more, because I'm a doodling addict and have about eight sketchbooks filled. I'm getting rather good. <3
Apply three mascaras in this order: L'Oreal Volume Shocking, L'Oreal H.I.P. in black, then Maybelline Great Lash to the tips. I've started using that trick of putting hot wax on the tips of your lashes, it's absolutely lovely.
Apply Burt's Bees chapstick, then for day either Clinique's Black Honey or C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Tint in Tint no. 1138 (Red). For night/evening I apply a deep plum or a bright red. No idea what brand they are anymore, the little sticker things are gone. ;_;
Spritz on some perfume, currently Britney Spears' Fantasy. >.> It smells like cake and cotton candy. <3
Night:
Apply cold cream, wipe off as before. Once a week I exfoliate with St. Ives Apricot Scrub and then moisturize once every two weeks with my prescription hydrocortisone, the rest of the time either with vaseline or Eucerin. I don't use toner because most irritate my skin, and I haven't yet gotten around to trying Witch Hazel. D:

Not particularly "vintage-ified," but unique nonetheless...
Morning:
1. SCRAPE TONGUE!! One of my obsessive-compulsive things...apparently your body releases toxins through your tongue at night, and if you drink water before brushing/scraping your tongue, you ingest them! Yeah, gross, sorry.
2. Eat a hearty breakfast! I have to have very high-calorie, protein-rich breakfasts because of my metabolism and body type. I do a lot of nuts, berries, yogurt, etc. Sometimes I'll have a croissant with brie, and I'll always have a protein shake and tea (I've been trying to make the perfect chai since coming back from India, but I've been failing miserably!)
3. Wash face with Mychelle Cranberry Cleanser, and then mix a few drops of lavendar, tea tree and castor oil into a base of grapeseed oil (or olive oil if my skin is particularly dry, in which case I'd skip the cranberry cleanser). I leave the oils on my skin as a mask, then step into the shower to let it steam and absorb. I wipe the oil of my face with a warm washcloth. Then I spritz Mychelle Fruit Enzyme Toner onto cotton (or a well-folded piece of toilet paper) and wipe down my face before moisturizing with Mychelle Pumpkin Renew Cream. Sometimes I'll dot blemishes with apple cider vinegar.
4. Sunscreen! Unless I've got a photoshoot, of course.
5. Lotion (free of parabens and synthetics, please!). Or if I scrubbed with my Trader Joe's grapefruit scrub I'll skip that step.
6. Put my hair in pincurls if I'm having a lazy and glamorous day. Usually I don't have time for such things, but I've got a bob so I can quickly round the ends with a round brush and blowdryer. Sometimes I'll clip the front into rolls...sometimes I'll just stick a scarve over the whole thing if I can't be bothered.
7. Makeup: Mineral foundation (gooood stuff), MAC pink blush, eyeshadow (either metallic shades, purples, or reds for my green eyes), heavy winged liquid liner, and mascara (haven't found a great brand yet). For lips, I love Eyeko bright red lip stain (lasts all day, in marker format!), or if I'm feeling more tame, either the Body Shop's rose lip stain or Mychelle's red lipstick. I might invest in some Dr. Hauschka's lipstick -- I found a beautiful shade, and the quality is well worth the price, I think.
8. I refuse to use anti-perspirant, due to it's potentially carcinogenic properties, and talcum powder isn't much better. I use lavendar oil and rock salt as deodorant, and cornstarch as anti-perspirant...does the job well.
Evening:
1. Take off eye makeup with the Body Shop's chamomile eye makeup remover, then wipe off blush/foundation with a warm washcloth.
2. Apply same blend of oils to face, and leave on for 5-10 minutes. Wipe off with washcloth.
3. Scrape tongue!, brush teeth, floss, mouthwash.
4. Goodnight!

Here's my current routine:
1) Brush teeth and apply carmex lipbalm. Later on in the morning I gently rub with a damp flannel to remove flakes.
2) Wash face with Clinque liquid soap for oily skin
3) Put in contact lenses
4) Sweep Clinque toner number 3 over face
5) Apply Clinique Dramatically Different moisturising gel
6) Apply Nivea Q-10 eye cream (I'm only 24 and already have fine lines under my eyes :( )
7) Whilst that is sinking in I get dressed
8) The war paint begins! Fill in eyebrows with a pencil and brush through, apply foundation (Revlon ColourStay or Maybelline Everfresh), apply Benefit concealer and set with powder. For work I just use crappy Boots No. 7 pressed powder, weekends/going out I use Shiseido pressed powder (not impressed with this, I'll definitely be returning to Benefit's Get Even powder). Curl lashes, apply 2/3 coats of mascara, curl again. Apply pink blush by either MAC (pink swoon) or Bourgois. If I'm going out then add some liquid eyeliner for the lids and 3 MAC eyeshadows blended - Vanilla, Shroom and Wedge.
9) Lips are always red! (either MAC's red, russian red or ruby woo, Bourgois Rouge Best or Boots Natural Collection Cherry) or Revlon Lipglide in Sheerly Strawberry if I'm feeling lazy/work.
10) Hairspray my fringe to the side (I'm growing it out), undo rollers/pin curls if I've set it the night before, spend an age trying to coax it into shape, pin a flower and set with hairspray.
Evening would be:
1) Remove make-up with Nivea face wipes and eyes with Simple eye make-up remover
2) Wash face with Clinique liquid soap. Twice a week I use Clinique exfoliating scrub and once a week Clinique pore minimizer refining mask.
3) Use Clinique number 3 toner, Clinique dramatically different moisturising gel and Clinique all about eyes cream.
4) Body lotion, pluck eyebrows, set hair, sleep!

:offtopic: GirlAnachronism, where in Idaho are you? I have a friend in Idaho and he tries to tell me there are no pretty peoples up there...he is nuts!
I live in southwest Boise. He's partially right. I've seen some absolutely gorgeous people but they're waaaay outnumbered by creatures from the black lagoon here. XD I live in a really, really trashy meth-lab druggie area as well.

For my usual work day, where I am sitting at a desk all day, I don't ever bother with eyeliner/eyeshadows or anything too involved. My routine:
-shower/wash face with Cetaphil (pretty much the only cleaner i can use that isn't harsh on my skin)
-moisturize with Neutrogina sensitive skin
-apply Almay foundation for sensitive skin
-brush on a little MAC blush in Pink Swoon
-swoop on some Maybelline great lash mascara
-fill in brows with Anastesia of Hollywood brow powder
-attempt to do something with my growing-out-in-between-phase hair
out the door in about 20 minutes, not counting the shower

Alarm Clock one. Get up and hit snooze.
Alarm Clock two. Get up and hit snooze.
...continue until 45 minutes before class begins (whenever that may be)
1. Get out of bed, rummage around floor to find smoking jacket/robe to avoid flashing roommates on way to the bathroom.
2. Hopefully find glasses where I left them the night before.
3. Wash face with Clearasil minty face-wash stuff and use Estee Lauder eye-makeup remover to de-gunk the eyeliner and mascara I missed the night before. Scrub face with clean washcloth to exfoliate.
4. Teeth brushing, flossing, mouthwashing. Occasionally use Burt's Bees Lavender Mint toothpaste when I'm feeling adventurous.
5. Back to bedroom, where I spend about 5 minutes trying to convince my contact lenses to get in my eyes without complaining.
6. Make tea while eyes calm down.
7. Makeup:
Bare Minerals mineral foundation
Liquid eyeliner (generic brand, the label has rubbed off)
Clinique mascara
Then I begin the long, involved, lipstick process;
1. Exfoliate lips to get flaky chapped bits off.
2. Dab on primer (actually I think I use eyeshadow primer on my lips, which may or may not be dangerous).
3. Moisturize over primer with Burt's Bees Pomagranate Lip Balm (smells amazing).
4. If I can find my lip liner, Revlon Red.
5. Use a brush (actually, a paintbrush because I like the long handle) to carefully draw on lipstick. Usually alternate between Estee Lauder Slick Red and MAC Russian Red. On extra-lazy days I just throw on some of that Burt's Bees tinted lip stuff and run out the door.
I kinda wear a lot of makeup for a college student!;)

8. I refuse to use anti-perspirant, due to it's potentially carcinogenic properties, and talcum powder isn't much better. I use lavendar oil and rock salt as deodorant, and cornstarch as anti-perspirant...does the job well.

- Creme blush
- Coty Airspun powder all over the face (but carefully avoiding the eyebrows)

- Wait 10 minutes. Hairspray some more.

Morning:
Whack alarm two or three times. Finally drag to couch, reset alarm for a half hour and commune with cat while sleeping (hubby doesn't like cats on the bed :( )
Strong black tea, a lot of it to face the cruel world.
Drag to computer and ingest tea while checking in on the Lounge...
Shower - lately I have been putting oil mixture (see the endless Oil Cleansing Method thread) on first and letting it sit and massage in the shower.
Wash face with Dr. Bronner's Lavender Castile soap and a red rubber makeup sponge - that's all the exfoliation I can take on a daily basis. If it's a weekly exfoliating day, I put fructose crystals in my oil mixture and rub that in for a few minutes before the shower. Fructose dissolves dead skin.
Wash hair if it is a semi-weekly hairwashing day. Wash the rest of me, I am into the Oil of Olay bodywash, slather on some lotion while still wet.
Dry off, wipe face with either salycic toner or rosewater and glycerin depending on if I am oily or not that week. Eye gel (I got it in China, I love it and will be sorry when it's gone), Colonial Dames Vitamin E moisturizer.
Go pick out clothes and jewelry in the Room of Shame and bring them into the bedroom where the dressing table is.
If I washed the hair, I towel dry it, put a little curling gel in it, comb it, put the sides up with combs and let it air dry.
If it isn't a hairwashing day, I brush it out, spray water on it and comb the water in to revive the wave (natural) and put up with combs. Vintage dressup days require much more work on the hair and a lot of hairspray. Let's not get into it, I am already getting carpal tunnel over this description...
Makeup: Paint out red spots with yellow concealer, paint out under-eye circles with pale eye concealer, paint out zits with a mixture of antibiotic cream and zinc/sulfur ointment. I still get them at (almost) 48.
Two or three shades of eyeshadow, the color depends on the clothes. Black pencil eyeliner on the bottom edge and inner and outer corners of the top lid (for some reason putting eyeliner all the way across the top sucks on me), and add powder black shadow over that to set it.
Eyebrows... I pluck the strays so that once it's penciled, it looks neater. I can't find a satisfactory eyebrow pen like the ones Marvella made, so I am back to pencil, which smudges and is hard to get a perfect thin line.
Powder all over with my loose powder, which is a combination of the Prescriptives translucent mineral powder and the pearl powder from China. Use and eyebrow brush to get the powder out and blend the pencil in the hairy bits.
Mascara, curl, 2nd coat mascara.
Blush on very pale days, otherwise not.
Red or wine lip pencil and lipstick - depending on clothes.
Jeeze! What a lot of work!!!
Night, I wash it all off and moisturize and crash. I NEVER sleep in makeup, nothing ruins your skin faster. I used to take bubble baths before bed but my tub is the size of a shoebox, so no more.

Some people always look groomed and put together and are ready to go out with little notice. If I get a sudden invitation I go into a mad panic!
I love the idea of being properly groomed at all times. Hair, skin, make up, nails - just neat and pretty.
I saw these on youtube and think they are adorable!

What is your typical beauty routine? How often do you do certain things like painting your nails and doing facials?
I need to stop being lazy and to (finally!) get a grown up routine!

angeljenny, thanks for sharing those! So cute, and relevant. I am with you, in that for the most part, I have a bad routine...
Get up, make coffee, feed and let out the dogs. Sit on the computer for a bit. Do stuff around the house. Then, get dressed when I have somewhere to go. I have contemplated starting my beauty routine just after I get coffee and the dogs out, but I haven't gotten into doing it. I should. Some days (like today) it doesn't make a lot of sense, as today is for beekeeping chores, and they don't like it when they can smell a lot of hairspray or other things, so today will be minimal makeup for now and a good old scarf on my hair. I can always get pretty later if the need arises, but Sundays are usually pretty quiet around here during the spring and summer.
Nighttime I have pretty down. Wash face, tone, moisturize. Set hair if it is a night I am going to. Most nights, I also sit in the bathtub for a while with a book and bubbles. :)

I like your style Tatum, i do the bath, bubbles and book every night too - heaven!
I tend to get up and do the coffee and computer thing too, then ablutions, i love Liz Earle cleanse and polish in the mornings, the smell sets me up for the day, slap on some moisturiser, then make another cup of coffee and drink it while doing my face and hair. Then i faff about and usually end up dashing about looking for something like a pair of earrings or whatever, every day without fail, i faff for England. I'm resigned to it now. I think it's part of my DNA!
I put in rollers or pincurls on sunday night while watching tv . I also do my nails on sunday nights then touch them up during the week during a quiet moment at work. I wash my hair every other day during the week and again set my hair while watching tv or in bed.
I don't plan my outfits as i'm too disorganised, other than to work out what i can't wear the next morning because it's in the ironing basket/laundry/drycleaners etc.

My beauty routine, I guess, is really simple. I wash my face with cold cream at night before going to bed, use witch hazel on spots. If I'm going to set my hair I'll do that at night, too. Since I pluck my eyebrows myself I usually get one or two stray hairs every night. This is how I just keep up with it without having to have a huge eyebrow session!
In the mornings, I just wash my face with plain water -- it seems happier that way. Since the only makeup I wear on my face is powder & blush, no foundation, this works better for me. I'll fix my hair and so on. But that's all. The mornings are more for coffee than anything!
I don't plan my outfits ahead of time most of the time, but sometimes I do. I prefer it when I do because it makes things easier but a lot of the time I forget.
ETA: Other things I do are try to stay well-hydrated by drinking a lot of water, having good posture, walking regularly instead of driving, and so on. Those things help I think.
Thank you for sharing the top video Jenny. I've seen parts but never the whole thing. Both are wonderful :)
As for routine:
In the morning, after making breakfast for hubby and daughter and get them out of the house and eat breakfast myself, I go upstairs take a shower. Mondays and Fridays I wash my hair and let it dry before I set it, but the other days I put it up before I shower. When I get out I apply lotion all over, get dressed and start on my face. First I rub ponds all over my face and use it to take off yesterdays makeup, then rinse with water, then Witch hazel, then Oil of Olay and some aging creams (I'm 41). Then I put on my makeup... first pluck eyebrows and then a sheer foundation, concealer, powder (like the video), eye shadow, liquid eye liner, eyebrow pencil and shadow, curl my lashes, mascara, blush (cream and powder) and lippy. Then I either set my hair or fix up whatever curl is left. The whole thing from shower to finish only takes about 30 to 40 minutes and I do it every single day.
At night, nothing except brush my teeth. I want to look cute for hubby when I go to bed ;)
I work very irregular hours, so I don’t have any set days for pampering- I do that when the days in the week it works. Funnily enough I have my best routines the days I have to get up at 4.30. 45 minutes after the alarm I leave home and had time to both eat breakfast and fix my face. Of course, I need to make everything ready before I go to bed, outfit laid out, tea kettle filled, bag packed, otherwise the whole routine falls apart. If I work late I spend some more time on my hair.
Before bed I pluck eyebrows, wash my face and moisturize. I always set my hair in the evenings too and sleep it dry. Every second month I go and have a facial and I’m currently trying to work in regular manicures in my budget as well.

I shower in the mornings which takes more time, but wakes me up. I wash my face in the shower, with burts bees. I blow dry and mouse my hair. Pin it back somehow, and curl it when I have extra time. I'd curl it everyday but I can be a slow poke. Then concealer where I need it, powder, blush, masacara, eyeliner, Eyeshadow. Lipstick when I'm wearing less eye makeup. I've been trying to wear lipstick more often. Either red or a pretty pink.
I'm super lazy at night. I use olive oil to remove my makeup, but a lot of times I forget. I know I know, sleeping in makeup is a big no no.
Isis that is a great idea setting everything out the night before, I bet it saves a lot of time

In the mornings after I get hubby off to work and before dd gets up, I put some Cetaphil (actually Walmart Equate equivalent) all over my face if I've taken off my makeup the night before or Ponds Deep Cleanser Cold Cream if I haven't and jump into the shower. I don't wash it off immediately because I allow the steam from the shower to give me a mini facial. I wash the Ponds Cream off with Dove soap otherwise it leaves my face kind of greasy feeling. After my shower I dry my hair, put on Ponds Dry Skin Cream if I'm not going outside or Oil of Olay SPF 15 if I am and then I put on my makeup - a little concealer on the dark circles under my eyes if I went to bed late, curl my lashes, mascara, cream blush, and red or pink lipstick. My nighttime routine is to take off the makeup with the Ponds Deep Cleanser and then put on the Ponds Dry Skin Cream. I also keep a jar of Vaseline for my lips and Nivea soft cream for my hands on my nightstand that I put on right before turning off the lights.
Kirstenkat it really do! But if I forget one thing, it throws the whole thing out of loop. :)

Thank you!
I thought the videos were so cute - I ended up watching loads of 50's videos!
I don't have much of a routine. I'm not that organised. I did add up that I use about 25 different types of make up each day - for a natural look!
I have just started putting on Ponds Cold Cream before I get in the shower and then leaving it on while I was my hair. Such good stuff!
I have just started using "proper" skin care as I really like Gatineau products, I use their cleanser, serum, gommage and moisturiser. Biggest change was getting a Clarisonic which made my skin so soft - that way I can skip getting facials!
I don't have a set time to do anything! I just paint my nails or do my eyebrows when I remember. I really need to get organised!

Morning: Shove purring, licking cat out of face. Repeat several times. Feel husband get out of bed to reset alarm clock.
Get out of bed to shut off alarm clock, stumble down stairs, make coffee.
Poke around online or iron/do laundry while waiting for or drinking coffee.
Shower: wash face with noxema, shampoo. Debate shaving legs. Exit shower.
Brush teeth & hair, pull down bangs so they don't dry funny. Possibly pluck eyebrows.
Apply pit stick, perfume, Olay moisturizer/foundation stuff.
Get dressed. Put on eye shadow, mascara, eyeliner, powder. Pet cat attempting to headbutt elbow during mascara application.
Find shoes. Change mind, find other shoes, stand in front of mirror wearing two different shoes until inspiration strikes or realization I'm running late sets in.
Rub pomade or wax over hair to keep it shiny and in place.
Apply lipstick, blot, powder lips.
Go downstairs, grab coat, lunch, purse, keys and head out the door.
Night: Brush teeth. Sometimes remove makeup. Apply zit cream. Tell husband not to let me overpluck eyebrows. Check for gray hair. Put petroleum jelly on lips, go to bed.

Well written, Powderkeg! Cats are a part of my daily routines too!
I've always heard that the worst thing you can do is sleep in your makeup, but seems that a lot of us (myself included) don't always bother to take it off at night. Rue's comment about "looking good for hubby" when she goes to bed is true. I always try to look put together when my husband comes home from work (mascara, lippy and vintage apron). It's disappointing to wash away all the magic right before it matters! ;)

^ I actually can't sleep with make-up on, never have. When I was younger and occasionally drunk, I'd fall into bed but then wake up two or three hours later, sometimes still a bit drunk, and would have to get up to remove my make-up, wash my face and brush my teeth. It never failed, and now I don't get drunk but I also never ever wear make-up to bed. I'm also too fond of my sheets to get make-up on them! :D Thankfully my husband doesn't seem deterred... ;)

I've really started to simplify my routine. I'm allergic to a lot of stuff, so I've gotten away from a lot of commerical products. I have very acne prone skin and used to treat it a lot. Since I've only been using soap once a day on my face, I only get a few pimples now and again, and they disappear right away without bringing new friends to the party.
Morning:
-Get up and start tea kettle
-Brush Teeth
-Scrub face with hot water and washcloth (no soap)
-Wash up
-Do Hair (normall pinned up and sometimes hair sprayed)
-Get Dressed
-Eat Yogurt and have a cup of tea
-Put on Lipstick
-Run like mad in a vain attempt to catch the 5:50
Night:
-Remove Lipstick with oil (any kind of cooking oil works)
-Floss Teeth
-Brush Teeth
-Wash face with goat's milk soap
-Unpin hair (or braid hair)
-Undress
After I shower I moisturize with oil, all over. I shower after the gym and Sunday night. Right now I am trying to train my hair to be washed once a week. It's been three weeks, very little improvement. I'm not sure how long this will take. I'm going to give it six months to a year. I have my fingers crossed.
It's funny because the make-up on at night thing is all in my head. He doesn't care, but I need to feel pretty
Sheeplady, it's taken a year for my hair to barely put up with it. I don't have grease issues though, just flakes after a few days.

It just seems a strange habit to me, who cares in the dark? I can't stand to wear rollers or even pins in my hair at night.
Can't sleep with them.
I do, however, need earplugs and dental retainer. Can't sleep without them.

When I started to not wash my hair every day I did it in small steps, every two days, then every third day and so on. I have very dry hair to begin with, so I never had any problems with it getting greasy, though.
I can't sleep with any make-up on, if I do I get blemishes which is a lot more unsightly than me with a scrubbed face. :)

It might take a while. It took me well over a month to get to four days, and now I can sometimes get six. It depends on what I am doing though, and how I style my hair. Florida humidity does NOT help. If I have it pulled away from my face, I am usually OK, but one day down and the grease just travels. I just washed it two nights ago, and my sleeping cap slipped last night, so I will probably wash it tonight as it caught some grease (which is fine since I have plans tomorrow night and want to have great hair). Keep at it, you will get there!

I went kind of cold turkey on the hair washing, I have fine, dark, greasy hair. I started washing with baking soda and immediately got three days out (with shampoo I only got 2). So I had this brilliant idea that I would just wash it once a week and wait for it to adjust three weeks ago. Now I am getting 4 days of reasonably good hair (I rinse days 2 and 4 because I work out, but I don't scrub or use anything). I really am hoping for 1 week if I just hold on long enough.
Thank you for all the encouragement ladies! For some strange reason, I've always hated having to wash my hair all the time, and I would always stress if I thought I could get stuck someplace without the ability to wash it (like camping, stuck in an airport, etc.). I really can't explain it, but I felt I had to wash it to look presentable; and I hated feeling so tied to needing to wash it every other day.

Mine is awfully simple. I wash my face in a PH balanced face soap. Use a cream called Apobase or Nivea if it is dry.I have a scrubbing glove that I use with disinfectant gel a few times a week.I use baby oil after shower on my body to keep the moisture. That´s it,no eye cream or fancy stuff. One really shouldn´t need to.If you have a skin problem, take it to a doctor and do not waste money on expensive miracle cream.

I wash my hair every day - I don't think I could stand not to! It just goes so flat and limp when I sleep on it.
I want to get to the point where I am doing regular maintenance so that if someone says "lets go out tonight" I won't have a sudden panic and a million things to do like legs, eyebrows and nails before I could go.

I let my hair go til the fourth or fifth day. It has a curl to it when layered proper (off to the hairdressers' on Friday!). On the fifth day, it's usually in a ponytail or up-do.
I don't wear makeup as per The Misters' request when we were dating in high school, so I wake up, wash gently with a sea salt wash, cool water rinse and a dab of olive oil rubbed it into my hands then my face. I know it sounds weird, but it works for me and has kept my seborrhea away for about a year. My face doesn't dry out either. If I have been mucking in the barn or out on the mountain, I give a wash with Ivory soap and then a good cold water rinse.
I do take care of my eyebrows everyday...as an Italian, they have a mind all their own!
A scrub on the hands and feet with the sea salt every few days and a good lotion on them a few times a day seems to keep them smooth.
Clothes I lay out the night before, even though I am a full time homemaker. It just makes the day easier.

In the morning i scrub with an apricot face scrub (by St Ives) and then moisturize with Jergens "Ultra Healing" body lotion. If I'm out in the sun I put on Water Babies SPF 50 (it's greasy but as far as I know it's the only sunblock that works on my skin... with everything else I just burn like a lobster!). At night I rub witch hazel with a cotton ball.
That's all. If I'm going to be in pictures I quickly apply mineral foundation as my skin is very shiny. I have make-up, as well, but I don't really use it. My job is outside and it's warm and I sweat quite a bit. The last thing I need to worry about is make-up in my eyes!

In the morning I wash with Boots traditional cold cream, witch hazel and then Nivea creme (The same in the evening). Followed by foundation (Palladio wet/dry) and powder (Ben Nye neutral set). Then some Mac blusher, Maybelline mascara and Clinique lipstick.
I wash my hair every few days, with a Lush shampoo bar and use Boots curl creme.

I feel quite the plain Jane! Here's my routine:
Apply Wonderbar lather to my face.
Brush my teeth.
Get in the shower, using soap on only the "important" parts.
Shampoo and condition hair.
Wash off Wonderbar lather from my face.
Once out of the shower, I apply Skin & Bones oil to my face and Origins Precipitation Extra to my body.
Occasionally, if going out, I will put on mascara and lipstick but that is not a daily thing. I just don't like the feel of make-up and I don't ever want to be one of those ladies who doesn't want to be seen without their "face on".

Wow, I just remembered I put half my hair in rollers an hour and a half ago and forgot to do the other half...
My routine is pretty typical and boring.
I shower every night, but on days I wash my hair I set it after, on days I don't I put it up first. Yeah, I have to set my hair every single night. Lately I'm having major trouble getting a first day set to work out, and today I didn't have time for my usual hot roller rescue so I looked kind of wavy and disheveled all day. I've been trying to time it so I only have 2 first day sets during the week. Yes, I am VERY pre-occupied with my hair lately! I guess because it's still pretty much an experiment every day, and if you try to have nice things it's a lot harder to fail at getting dressed lol.
About once a week or whenever I have 3+ items to hand wash I take an extra long shower and take them in with me. If I didn't do that they wouldn't get washed at all. I read that's how French women do it and I figured it made enough sense.
I've been getting up at 5:30am lately for work. I take my hair out first thing so if it didn't work I can put it in hot rollers right away. Then I get dressed from something I vaguely picked out a day or two before. Though I usually change my mind, one of the reasons I'm so often late. And it's weird being new somewhere because you feel like you're starting to create this identity for yourself in their minds and you want to make sure it's always going to be "right" or face confusion. I know that probably doesn't make a lot of sense.
I rarely shave because my hair is very fine and blond so I keep forgetting. I do my eyebrows whenever I see I need to because it will drive me nuts if I don't. I use that Garnier eye roller thing whenever I remember. And I haven't dyed my hair in 5 months (probably a record), but I just found some boxes for 2$ each so hopefully that will be happening some time this week lol.
I guess everything besides my showers/hair setting and getting ready for work is pretty random. It's like I only have half a routine lol

I'll copy past my skin care routine. May be someone will find it useful.
Evening routine:
- I take off my make up with Olive oil. It's great and my lashes look fantastic because of it.
- Then I wash my face with contrast water. Cold-then warn-then cold-warm-and cold again. This helps to prevent wrinkles and awaken skin. Afrer that I simply touch my skin with cotton washcloth.
- After that I put on some cold cream (for me Ponds works best!) Massage it for a minute, let it soak and then take if off with a dump warm or even hot washcloth. I don't use which hazel in the evenings because it makes my skin dry. I think it's too harsh for me.
- I use ice-cube undereye therapy like Audrey did. Sometimes I even use ice cubes all over my face. It gives stimulation that invigorates the skin.
- Then I put a little cold cream as a moisturiser and leave it over night.
- Under my eyes I use vaseline. It helps me to moisturise my undereye area. I also use it on my lips and it makes them so soft and gentle!
Morning routine:
- I awaken my skin with the contrast water therapy.
- Put on some cold cream and take it off with dump warm washcloth.
- Use some which hasel but only on my reddish parts and breakouts.
- I use some concaler if needed and my favourite loose powder. I even don't have to use boots no 7 any more because my skin has it's natural glow now! I put some boots 7 on my eyes only. It makes them so bright and shiny. I also put some vaselin on my upper lid - that's fantastic! Try!
- I also put some vaseline on my lips under the lipstick or gloss.
Wow, some of you have your routines down pat. Golly.
I work 3 days a week, so I have different routines for different days.
Every day.
Get up and pray that the husband has made coffee, if not make a cup of tea.
Put hair back in an Alice band, wash face with warm water only on a face cloth.
Put in antihistamine eye drops.
Apply ROC face serum, then MUFE primer.
On non-work days, I put on my eyebrows with a Revlon pencil, powder and lipstick.
I often forget to brush my teeth till AFTER I have my lipstick on (I usually have my tea or coffee while I am doing my slap, so that explains that) so then I brush my teeth and put my lippie on AGAIN. Sheesh!
If I am working I usually do a little nuetral grey or brown shadow, and some black mascara, sometimes liner but not usually.
Takes me less than five minutes on days I don't do my eyes.
If I do a full makeup, foundation, blush, eyes complete with liner and mascara, it still only takes me about 15 minutes. I am super-duper fast, kids.
At night, I glop on some Ponds Cold Cream, tissue that off, use MAC Face Wipes for the eye makeup, warm water on a face cloth, some witch hazel toner and then a Clarins night moisturizer.
Any time I feel totally parched or when I am flying I swear by Clarins Beauty Flash Balm.

I'm definitely a creature of habit:
When I get up, I go to the bathroom and wash my face and brush my teeth.
Back in the bedroom, it's time for make-up.
Apply primer to eyelids.
Draw on cats-eye eyeliner.
Put on my mascara.
Dust on eyeshadow.
Glue on my false eyelashes.
Slather sunscreen all over my face.
Draw on my eyebrows.
Dust powder all over face, and apply concealer if I have any spots.
Line lips and apply lipstick.
This takes me about ten minutes. For my hair,
Take out rollers if its a new set, or unclip my hair from the top of my head.
Shake out the curls and give them a good brush through.
Put some pomade on my fingers and pull them through the curls.
Roll up my pompadour, or add a bow or scarf.
That took five minutes, unless I was completely lazy and left it pinned to the top of my head.
Now I get dressed in the outfit I selected the night before, grab my purse, and I'm ready for the day. :)

I definitely have a routine! I am a total creature of habit.
In the evenings after I get home from work:
- remove makeup with Albolene cleanser and a hot wash cloth
- follow with Boots rose skin tonic
- change into comfy clothes
Right before bed:
- apply a layer of cold cream (Walgreens store brand), then remove with warm wash cloth
- Boots skin tonic again, apply Estee Lauder advanced night repair serum, and Boots overnight bergamot skin cream
- brush teeth
- tweeze eyebrow strays as necessary
- Pick out clothes for next day
Mornings:
- Wake up, see husband off to work
- make & drink a k-cup of coffee
- feed the cats & dog
- empty dishwasher or start laundry
- hug on my orange cat for a few minutes
- evaluate hair & determine if I need to wash it or not
- layer of cold cream on face, removed with hot wash cloth
- Brush teeth
- Shower & shave, wash hair if necessary (usually every 3-5 days)
- Apply lotion all over
- Boots rose skin tonic & regular spf moisturizer on face, top with Boots rose vanishing day cream
- Rose salve on lips
- if hair was washed, blowdry & style it
- Get dressed
- Apply daily makeup
- Touch up hair with curling iron as necessary & spray
- Extra lotion & cuticle cream on hands
- Run out door

Heck no I don't. I wish I did! My life is way too unpredictable though.
Get up, make coffee.
Check emails, feed critters.
Hang out in pjs and get any computer work done til the laptop battery threatens to go dead.
Locate something to eat.
Grab a shower.
Chat with the inevitable neighbor stopping by.
Make sure I have whatever I need for whatever organization might be meeting that week that I'm involved in.
Now, if it is an outside chore/beekeeping kind of day, moisturizing sunscreen and maybe at least eyebrows. Hairband or scarf. Most likely shorts and a t-shirt.
Else, unclip the curls, put a face on and dress in something that makes me feel pretty :)

Morning
6:25: Wake up, groggily check Twitter. Think of reasons I'm excited to be out and about today. Wash face, brush and floss teeth and start shower for boyfriend.
6:40: wake up said boyfriend, stand in front of my closet wondering what I'm going to wear. Assess possible assignments and weather.
7: the getting dressed process begins:
Makeup: tinted moisturizer, under eye concealer, cream blush, mineral powder foundation, nude eye colour, liquid eyeliner, white power under eyes and under brows, two swipes of mascara both eyes (same hand then wrong hand).
Drink coffee boyfriend has lovingly prepared as I take hair out of rollers, brush it with bristle brush, add pomade, brush through with wooden paddle brush (actually a wig brush). Try to avoid tossing my end papers in coffee cup.
If I have time: read blogs, make smoothie for breakfast on the go. In the winter, remember to command start car 10 minutes ahead so I don't have to do as much frost scraping.
7:53 am: out the door!
8 am: Arrive at work, put on red lips (I don' put it on until I'm at work because G will refuse to kiss me when I drop him off if I'm wearing it!) and check FL! Then, you know, work.
Night
9:15: Shower - wash face, body wash, shave if needed, wash hair (yes, I have to wash my hair every night - it gets too heavy otherwise!)
Brush and floss teeth.
Slather self in lotion. Put Vaseline on my horrible cuticles.
Toddle around the house tidying up to let my hair dry if it's early enough in the night. If not, blow dry on cool setting.
Put hair in rollers: Green (second largest) on top layer. Yellow on subsequent bottom layers. (smallest) if I need to on the short layers at the bottom. This is done either in front of the mirror or in front of the TV watching Big Bang Theory, The Canadian Dragon's Den or Criminal Minds :D
10 pm: Sleep time!
