Most of the threads in the powder room and beauty forum focus on wonderful fashion (repo shoe and clothing web sites), make-up, and hair styles of the 1940s-1950s.
Yet, I do not see any threads on hair, make-up, and fashion of the 1960s.
I am adoring the early fashions of 1960-1964 but I mostly come across every day teenage fashion which is confusing for an adult female who does not want to look like a 1960s teenager.
And the early 1960s hairstyles I see photos of mainly show short teased hair or long bobbed flip hairstyles with bangs/fringe which is confusing trying to create these hairstyles on long hair.
Does anyone have and tips on early everyday 1960s hair, and fashion.

I do like Mary Tyler Moore's
http://elviswomen.greggers.net/images/mtminf.gif

And Marlo Thomas
http://media.onsugar.com/files/2010/...680_marlo9.JPG
1960s long hair styles. I could not find any true vintage direction on how to achieve these great hairstyles.

Well gee I'm new on this joint, and I just wanted to introduce myself:

Hello Ladies and gentlemen, how do you do?? well I'm Miss Lucille A. and I live in 1942, every day, 24 hours, and when a year finishes, for me well 1942 just starts again, I'm not one of those gals who just dresses up, I hate those, I DO LIVE IN 1942, I always shop with my ration book in hand, I use, no cell phone, microwave, Ipod, and whatever other things you people of the future have, I talk 1942, ALL of my clothes are made from original patterns and pictures from 1939 to 1942(you see in the war we can't be buying clothes all of the time, so we have to use some older clothes too) I know all that a gal from 1942 should know, like how the war is going, making do and mending, I mean EVEN MY MAKEUP IS FROM 1942!! All of the products I use are of of course new, in 1942 packaging EVERY SINGLE THING!! I don't ever use ANYTHING that has not been created yet (in 1942) and from experience I can predict that some person trying to make me feel bad is going to say "Oh, so if you do live in 1942 why do you use a computer???" Well I use this aparatus out of pure nesessity, To know what every gal from 1942 shound know, and why don't I do research in books you say? well its too much effort that the other gals from 1942 don't have to do!! they just open the newspaper and there it is, but well for obious reasons it's not like that for me... I just use it for reaserch and for contacting people, also there are thing you can find here that are not in books, like testimonial of the other women of 1942, well that is mostly myself ! thank you for your time!!

hello everyone! :) as you all know I dress very classic 1920's-1940's vintage and I don't currently have any piercing or tattoos, I don't even have my ear pierced haha. but lately I have been considering getting my tongue pierced, now I the reason I want to do my tongue is because 1: it isn't in plain sight all the time, so it shouldn't clash with my classic style
2: it is something I can incorporate into my sideshow act and use it for a few different stunts :)

now I would like to hear the opinions of the lovely ladies on here! :)

thank you everyone!

hug and best wishes to all,

Hi there,

I'm new to this website so forgive me if I am doing this incorrectly!

I have a dress pattern for a 50s swing dress. I need to find someone who can make the dress for me now (no sewing machine, no sewing skills and no sewing inclination!). Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm currently in Manchester but will be south west London in 2 months also.

Thanks very much :)
