You know you do it, we all do -- so what do you read when you are In There? Do you keep a store of reading matter within easy reach?

I have a large magazine holder thing next to the Facility, which currently contains:

The current issue of the Atlantic Monthly

The March 2009 issue of National Geographic

"The Most of S. J. Perelman," a Modern Library compliation of the humorist's best short pieces.

Broadcasting magazine for October 15, 1937

Broadcast Advertising magazine for March 1932

The 1958 Information Please Almanac

A 1930's religious pamphlet called "Universal War Near," which prophesies the coming destruction of all civilization and has a delightfully lurid cover.

A 1935 Johnson Smith Co. novelty catalogue

A Radio Yesteryear catalogue of old radio recordings c. 1975

What's in *your* Bathroom Library?

Architectural Digest (the only issue I ever bought, from 1987), two recent Vanity Fair and a few recent J. Peterman Catalogues.
Those are all for guests, of course...

My bathroom library changes from time to time. I always try to keep a book in there but they always end up back in my room. I guess I have Mother to thank for that.
The longest book I've had in the bathroom was The Bell Jar, Sylvia Plath.

I now realise that perhaps you mean bathroom as in the WC?

Years ago, when I lived in a share house we bought a magazine rack specifically to put next to the toilet & very useful it was too.

At a guess, there will be several classic car magazines & a copy of "A cast of killers" by Sidney Kirkpatrick (a book based on the 1922 William Desmond Taylor murder).

Yes, I have posted to FL from the can.
Same here. In fact, that's where I keep my netbook.

At the moment, the collected works of Philo, which I can never seem to finish, a Scottish Rite newletter, and a Cabela's catalog.

Hi, my old boss had a phone line put in his bathroom. It hangs above the toilet, and yes, it's brown. His kid has the house now, and it's still there, still brown, but now the whole family uses cell phones.

Personally I'm re-reading totally tasteless jokes by Blanche Knott. I like books that you can put down when you're done...

I may be one of the weird ones, but I have never understood why people read in the bathroom. :D I never have. I go in, do my business, and get out again. No need to linger! lol

My morning constitutional is usually less than a minute so by the time I'd have picked out something to read I'd be finished.[huh]

But I'll often read a book/mag, watch TV or surf the web while soaking in the tub.:)

I'll soak and read The Irish-American; Economist; New York Times Book Review; The Drop/Special Forces Association Quarterly; Chicago Magazine.
And Alaska Quarterly Review; Poets&Writers.

...Alaska produces exceptional poetry. :)

What a great thread!

We have 3 bathrooms, and the reading material in them varies by who typically uses 'em.

In our powder room, (bathroom for public use) we have one shelf of history books and one shelf of religious books, and another of political books.

In the next, which is the main family bathroom, we generally have a couple story books, a magazine on trucks/cars/trains, the latest copy of Concealed Carry, and other odds and ends.

In the last, which is mostly used the the kids, there are story books, western magazines, old copies of Concealed Carry and random school books.
