Bought fedora got it home and took a better look.. It is blue with a rope around it... Inside it has a NFL Logo 1970s.... on the band COLTS is embossed. Hat is made by Byer-Rolnick with Resistol on the band.....

Did they make Fedoras for coaches or for superbowl teams....??? I know the Dallas Cowboys had a coach that was known for his hats....

The most famous coach known for wearing a Fedora was Tom Landry of the Dallas Cowboys. As for your hat, from it's possible age I would say it was made by Resistol as an NFL licensed product. The NFL did not start regulations as for coaches and staff's clothing till the late '80s I believe. Today, coach Landry would NOT be able to wear his suits/hat at a game or press conference as he did then. He'd have to wear NFL licenesed apperall. It's a "bidness" these days. :)

I own one of these hats, in fact thats how I found this forum. I have the Chicago Bears Version. it is a navy blue hat with a ( Bears orange ) rope band. the hat is the same as it was when it was made. i bought mine from a store in kenosha Wi. about nine months ago. i was the first person to own and wear the hat. i only had it on one time for a couple of hours . The guy at the hat store pulled it out of the basement of the shop. at the time I was just looking for a navy blue stingy brim fedora, he said that the hat had been there for as long as he can remember ( never sold it cause thats packers country ). when I got home i looked all over the internet for info on the hat with no luck other than an old auction price of $355.00 for a New York Jets Fedora. The Jets fedora had some short story about how they were given out to the players in the locker room in 1969. The reason why I want more info on it is because I realy want to take it over to Optimo hats in Chgo. to have a new ribbon band put on it BUT if this is some rare hat than I don't want to ruin it. i would rather sell it to someone who would like it just the way it is. can anyone help with this before it's to late ?

I'm sure there are a few thousand Bear fans who would like the hat as is. Hell, Graham over at Optimo might even buy it from you; He's a Bear fan. Can you post a photo?

You need to upload your photos to a hosting site like Photobucket and then copy and paste the IMG code into your post.

Yeah, it's one of the stupider rules. Mike Nolan got permission to wear a suit back in 2006, but for only two games of the season.

Sell it. As I mentioned earlier, Graham over at Optimo might even be interested in a buying or trading for it. (I can see that on display at his shop or in any number of sports bars around the city.) In any event I'm sure there would be a pretty strong market for it among Bear fans. But hey, it's your hat..................

Well I took the hat over to Optimo and had them put a blue band on it and now I am not happy with how it looks so i will have them put the rope back on it so that I can sell it. =/
