How many of you did hide a new leather jacket purchase from wife?

;) Jon Z started this other thread by saying that he put his marriage in jeopardy again after he purchased a new NY HH 30's Motorcyle Jacket. So I wonder how many of you went through the same situation and did hide a new leather jacket purchase from wife. Confess up, please :p

BTW, in my town, women have such a temper that your marriage is in jeopardy since the very same fateful moment you say "I do" at the altar. I understand you, people.

Shut up asking awkward questions you trouble maker, I haven't done it more than 5 times or possibly 6....I think:D

....there is still one in hiding waiting for a respectable length of time before it can see the light of day, jackets are nothing try hiding a 55 square foot leather hide without having to screw it up so tight it would ruin it, I hope it is still alright when I fish it out of hiding....she knows there is 2 whole brown leather hides in the house the only problem is that there is four and when I turn items out all in different types of leather I am going to be up the creek without a paddle.

jackets are not the only thing hidden from the wife . . . . . :D Then again she has her secrets as well. Marriages last longest when both partners are allowed acceptable secrets from each other. This does not extend to affairs, unless you consider a leather jacket to be a turn-on!

lol and what are you going to tell about it whenever you take it out from your stash?

What do you store so much hide for? Hope it's not fresh :eusa_doh:

And I'll bet the wife doesn't have to hide her new bags and shoes.

No they don't. They expose them like hunting pieces. [huh]

Hmmm..
Don't get it. Why should I need to hide anything from my wife..? She's not my Mommy

I don't know in Indiana, but here, my 70 years old uncle had to hide from wife whenever he wanted to smoke a pitty. You're never grown old enough for marriage.

And I'll bet the wife doesn't have to hide her new bags and shoes. Such injustice in the world. :(

I actually have a friend who does that. Hides bags and shoes from her husband, I mean. I have no idea why. They're bought with her own money, after all.

just for the record, i think all of you who say you hide NOTHING from your spouses are lying to yourselves, this site, and also to your spouses :eeek: And that is not meant in a reactionary way. I think this thread is a real kick and funny and I also like the indignant posts that I think are amusingly hypocritical in a way.

So . . . it all depends on what you hide. So you don't hide material things. YOu hide other things.

--Tell me you have never looked lustfully at another person since you were married. Did you tell your spouse? Why not? hmmmmmm? What have you got to hide?

--Have you ever talked to your friends about something you would not mention to your spouse? Why? What have you got to hide?

-- Have you never been irritated with your spouse about something and decided it wasn't worth expressing? Why? what have you got to hide?

Marriages do consolidate wealth, at least healthy marriages do. If you separate your money from each other from separate jobs and don't pool your resources then you are in a strange marriage, yes?

And if your spouse is too weak to protest when you buy 15 thousand dollars or more worth of jackets, etc. when your income is less than $200,000 per year (whether retired or not) then that is not a healthy marriage IMHO

BTW: Flicka, if that is you in the picture, and you are married, then your husband is lucky man! (Don't tell my wife I said that) ;)

I can kinda see the logic in this, but it's probably not the best possible outcome. I agree with Red Baron that little harmless secrets can be nice in a marriage, but I would turn that around and say it's more like little freedoms are nice in a marriage; i.e. the freedom for a wife to buy a purse without harrasment, or a husband to purchase a jacket that costs half of the house payment.

If the lady of the home gets mad because you tossed $600 at yet another coat/hat/pair of shoes/suit, she's either entirely justified or she needs to lighten up. I guess common sense will have to be the judge on that. [huh]

I used to frequent a number of chat rooms where people would tell TOTAL STRANGERS things they would never tell their friends, much less their spouse. Worse, I've had people from those rooms PM me, a total stranger, unsolicited, and start unloading their personal problems on me right off the bat. Meanwhile, I'd be sitting there trying to figure out how to politely log off.

Aerojoe....Easy just leave it a repectable time after the last one and then no problem but turning up 3 coats within a week , which is what happened, would have looked like I was taking the pee a bit.

The leather hides are the same. I turned up a perfect hide which was abit pricey...very pricey, and then got offered some others so cheap I couldn't turn them down the only problem is I was offered them all within a two day period so they have to be drip fed into the system. Two are for specific jackets and the others were just because the hides are out of production and I was almost certainly never going to get another pair of hides in that leather again and for only 30% of the next nearest substitute, which isn't as nice anyway....see, all perfectly explainable to a bloke but women don't seem to "get it" so it is eaier to keep them in the dark.....thank god she is only a girlfriend so if she gets to irate she can be shown the door.

I've found that clutter often makes for the best camouflage. If your man-cave (I really detest that term) or home office has a bit of clutter. what better way to hide something than in plain sight? lol

Well...'for me'....I don't find the need to be deceptive...or hide things from..well..anyone. Never have. I don't feel that I'm under anyone's thumb..however..it does seem that some others find a certain fondness in that kinda game. I suppose since it is alien to my lifestyle..it seems difficult to understand those admitting and sharing some kind of enjoyment in playing it. To label those of us who don't as liars is kinda bold. If you live your life like that,tho..I guess you might percieve things that way and if it works nicely for you..then more power to you. Not for me!

Yes I agree with V.C's last comment, you could just about loose an elepant in my home office space at the moment between the half gutted corpses of computers, stacks of "spare" printers and currently home for 2 A2's 1 CWU-45 and a B-15C. Usualy I try and soften Mrs O up a bit by leavin subtle hints around like printouts or webpages left up on screen. Damn the death of printed catalogs, it makes it so much harder.

Hiding things is amateur hour. Buy your wife nice things and she will insist you do the same for yourself.
Don't use Bill Clinton as your role model. Man up and your wife will treat you like a man.
OTOH, when I was a young lad, I did hide motorcycles from my parents lol

So Mister Daddy, paragon of honesty, have you looked a nother woman with sexual thought since you been married? Yes or no? Did you tell your wife? Yes or no. Enough with the bluster and bravado. What is the truth?
