Memphis Film Festival 2014

Oddly enough the wife and I found out despite the name, this festival WAS NOT held in Memphis.
Instead it was in Tunica MS. :eusa_doh:
We saw a lot of celebrities there today, many from Westerns in the 50's and 60's.
Also, many as Westerns were disappearing, many of these actors had to make the transition to Medical Dramas, Sci-Fi, and even WWII series.

Robert Fuller-Super nice guy, if you could keep him seated. He'd often get up and rush over to speak with fans he hasn't seen in a year, and it was like old times with them. Truly a class act, and a REAL cowboy. He owns a ranch/farm and said he still rides horses quite frequently. Horses and a ranch (in Texas) are more accepted by the neighbors than a mock hospital and operating room. He also shared a few good memories of Jack Webb, Julie London, and Bobby Troup.

Buck Taylor-Not only is he a great actor, he's a great artist. His memory is incredible too, because he (like Robert Fuller) would see someone and remind them where they last met, even if it was years ago!

Clu Gulager-He was very nice, and witty like you wouldn't believe! This was the second shot, because he wanted to point at the camera instead of just sitting there. He too still rides horses and said "there aren't that many of us "real" Cowboys left.

Robert Conrad-It's rare to see him in these parts, and the line was really long just to get his autograph and speak with him. Although several in line said he can be moody (really, I never noticed that in interviews from the past 20yrs!), we found him to be very nice and appreciative of the fans.

Robert Colbert-We know him from The Time Tunnel. A pleasure to talk with, and he agreed that The Time Tunnel should have run longer as it was a great series (despite being short).

Ruta Lee-She was so funny, and with a loud booming voice too. One guy asked her to remove that hat, to which she replied "well if I remove my hat, you have to remove your pants, those are the rules, and since the management won't let you do that, I can't remove my hat."

Lastly...

Lastly, Michael McGreevey-He starred with Kurt Russell in several Disney features, as well as by himself in numerous Disney's Wonderful World of Color episodes. He's also a writer (like his father John was). Oddly enough he was sitting next to John Walmsley, and they have a project coming up concerning the Waltons.
As if that wasn't enough, he had some wonderful stories about Rod Serling (because his father knew Serling) coming over to the house quite frequently, and Jack Webb (he dated Lisa Webb in Highschool and was going to marry her but it didn't work out). Really a great guy, who managed to make the transition from child actor to writer/director which is very rare these days.

It is especially nice to see Robert Fuller. I know that he is well known from "Wagon Train", but, for me, he has always been Dr. Kelly Bracket. Either way, he's great!

We aren't Western people, so he's Dr. Brackett to us as well. We not only got 2 signed pictures from him, but I had him autograph an Emergency coffee mug we bought years ago. The last person we spoke with was Andy Devine's son. He lives in the same state I do, and actually only a few hours away. We HAD to ask about his father's eyebrows, and he laughed and said "at some point they just took on a life of their own...he never trimmed them or brushed them because he liked the way they looked."

Andy Devine was quite a good character actor, though he was very unique. I best remember him from "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance." I also liked his performance very much in "Island In The Sky." It starred John Wayne, but had a great ensemble cast.
