George Michael - Yeah that one... dead at 53 of "?" (family won't say). I don't think he ever appeared in film but that shouldn't be a knock. His performance at the Freddy Mercury Tribute... his version "Somebody to Love" was transcendent. God what an awful effin' year.

It's Lord Richard Attenborough and Robin Williams all over again. A little piece of my childhood, now one with the Force. :(

I remember Carrie Fisher ('77) doing a "Star Wars" promo at the
Broadway Dept. Store on Hollywood & Vine where I worked as a
salesclerk.
She was dressed in this costume.
I recall that she was prettier in person than in the movies.

News of Ms. Fisher's passing is sad indeed, but after the announcement of her medical emergency on Friday I can't say I'm surprised. 2016 will be coming to an end soon, and it seems to be trying to take as many people with it as it can.

I read a theory recently that Abe Vigoda was hanging onto the door frame of Death's door and when he went, it opened the way for more to get through.

What is it with internet morons? My wife just told me that she heard that Judi Dench had passed away. I checked it out and found it to be a hoax. Is that supposed to funny? Apart from her fans Judi has family, imagine if one of her relatives saw, and believed such malicious deception.
Words fail me.

Somewhere around five years before his actual death, the AP accidentally released Bob Hope's obituary, causing an outpouring of sympathy and even a "posthumous" resolution honoring him in the US House of Representatives. When finally reached at his home, a very much alive Hope was said to have been quite tickled by the "news" and reportedly said something to the effect of, "This isn't the first time Congress has tried to kill me!"

So sad to hear about Carrie Fisher. I had hoped that, since she was upgraded to stable condition after her heart attack, that she might recover. She was quite a unique person: a bestselling novelist, an amazing script doctor in Hollywood, and an advocate for mental health issues (she was bi-polar and also suffered from depression). Never afraid to be herself. We lost a truly amazing human.
