The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) opens up a ski-thru bank machine at the Whistler ski resort:

You snow board down a sidewalk in Quebec, onto a street, get hit by a car, you apologize profusely to the driver, asking if their car is okay:

My first experience of being in Quebec (Montreal) was in February of 1974 and on my first day I watched a motorist turning right and a pedestrian rushing to beat the light ran into the side of the car. The motorist stopped, got out and punched the semi dazed pedestrian in the head after berating him for running into his car. For the rest of my visit I was a very cautious pedestrian.

Your pizza delivery car is left running while you try to deliver a pie to an apartment building, and...
Your car gets stolen before you can enter the building, because you've left your cell phone in the car, and...
You walk to a hospital, pizza in hand, to call the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, and...
The hospital staff buy your pizza, and give you a $15 tip, and...
Your car is returned to the same spot the next day, badly damaged BUT with a full tank of gas, a small snow shovel left, and a copy of a CD of an apparently great album:

...when you engage, yet again, in that quintessentially Canadian debate - the pronunciation of the word "kilometre".

Is it "kill-OH-meet-er"?

Or is it "kill-AHM-et-er"?

Discuss...

You know you're in Canada (and nowhere else) when you can't understand either the English or the French. To some degree the same thing happens in Maine, I understand. The English sounds sort of like the way it's spoken in England and the French sounds like it was learned in French class in an American high school, only not very well.

To me, English as spoken in England sounds like the speaker is using a special accent for the benefit of the tourists. But that is only true of some of them. The rest I don't understand. But on the other hand, I sometimes can't understand my mother-in-law's accent and she's from Lynchburg, Virginia. She's 95.

Everybody beats up Justin Trudeau. He will knuckle under to anybody, as long as it is against the interests of the Canadian people.

Yes, but always remember that when he touches his hand to his heart he is demonstrating how much he cares about you. He really does care, honestly, he is like our shepard and he cares deeply about each and everyone of his sheep!
