Why are people often saying, that denim-jackets have to be worn open??

Anyone got any ideas where I can get a jacket like Jake Gyllenhaal's, but without the wax?
It's a great color and style, and gets around the 'double denim paradox' neatly.
Help me out, 'I've been searching for freedom' for chrissake!

I'm not sure but maybe Levi's online store? I've been looking for a dark brown corduroy version with a white fleece collar myself. Good for getting out and watching some fall ball at Wrigley... oh my waivering Cubbies.

My Levi classic dark blue denim jacket sits in my closet never worn due to the whole Canadian Tuxedo thing yet my two Gustin Wax Truckers get a heap of use in milder weather when its too warm for leather but you still need more than a T-shirt.

I don't find they are too warm at all, they are unlined, fairly light weight and the stiffness of the wax cotton makes them not lie against the body and keeps them quite airy.

...and don't care what anyone thinks.

I don't get this - I know they're a bit cliched perhaps but is the negativity toward denim jackets truly this pronounced? I've been wearing my Levi's denim jacket half the summer, whenever the temperatures would permit it, often with jeans (albeit of a different shade) and never thought anyone'd give me any more thought than when I wear whatever else.

Granted, I'm a horror of a sight whatever I put on but still...

There is a pic of my old man, RIP, at the step monster's house, of him standing in the parking lot of a Montgomery motel posing with Willie Nelson during the outlaw days. They were staying at the same motel and the old man, never one to be shy, just knocked on the door of the tour bus and said he wanted to meet Willie. Willie came out and the picture was taken.

The point is the old man was wearing the vest and slacks of his three piece denim suit looking as he though thought he was the $h!7. I'm sure he donned the suit jacket for the concert later on that day. I gotta get that pic.

I got a couple of the cord/sherpa Levis jackets last year on sale on the Levis site.
While not a regular look, I will on occasion wear denim/denim/denim and don't care what anyone thinks. It helps to have different shades of blue, but the cord Levis jackets break up the denim tux nicely.

I think I can get away with wearing one of my brand new never washed dark indigo raw denim jeans with my old beat up jean jacket that got put through the wringer so many times that it is almost white. But I really don't care If I am breaking the sacred denim head code.
