One of the problems with mustache wax is if you have a beard & use beard oil the oil will leache up into the wax & start to break it down. Beard Baum is not as bad at that but oil is.

Yep, no one size fits all for mustache wax. I need a stiff hold as the consistency of my facial hair is "wilty". The Broomduster style probably works better for me anyway, and minimal maintenance is required!

I've tried several Waxes. And I think it all comes down to what your going for and what your whiskers are like.
If you want a fuller natural look, Pomades are the way to go. I have to be careful when I apply wax because my hairs are thin, so too much wax makes the whole Stache look thin.
Dubs Firm Cream is another of my favorites. It's a creamy wax that's easy to apply and has a decent hold. Good Lavender scent.
Canadian Redneck has the ultimate hold. You put it in and it forms up like cement!!
Got2B Glued Spray works better than the cream. Spray some on your fingers and rub onto the Stache. It'll hold as long as you want it too.

What I use to take out wax, any wax, is Sweet Oil. I get it at Walmart. It's in the pharmacy section and is for ear wax.... yes ear wax.
You apply it and it breaks the wax down. I Comb it out and the wash it with either Grand Pa's Pine Tar Soap or a beard cleaner I won at a competition.

I've been using this because I like the bourbon scent instead of pine & conifers, etc. The hold is just average.
I need to try this. Scent sounds good. Haha

It does smell good but it won't hold your handlebar all day. I use the same scented beard oil & Baum in a regular rotation.

Cap, ever use a curling iron on the handlebar or a flat iron to straighten it? I had a beardsmith use a flat iron on my beard once for a competition but I fear burning it if I did it myself.

Yes sir, I'll use a flat iron when I want to be pretty. I just turn it on and right when it starts getting warm I unplug it. So it doesn't get too hot.

I have looked online at flat irons with adjustable controls but have resisted purchasing one so far. I may have to try one myself. I tend to evaluate my situation in 6 month & 1 yr intervals & while I need to trim & shape now I'm committed not to trim it or let anyone else trim it until next March. Then I will evaluate to either do it then or go 6 more months.

That's a great plan!! I'm going to look at it in February. I might Trim just the ends, the stray hairs, but not much else.
My wife has a flat iron with an adjustable setting. Hers is still too hot for my liking on low. The one I use is a small one, she already had it. I don't use it that often.

Makes you wonder how they kept from burning their handlebars back in the Victorian era when they used those small curling irons you heat up on a stove.
I'm about 5-1/2 to 6 hrs to Little Rock, I think. I will be going back to the Kiamichi Mountains in Oct but a date has not been set yet.
