Very possible. I think the best director they've had so far is the director of Wonder Woman, Patty Jenkins. She did a wonderful job.

I think it's the overall tones of the movies. Marvel movies have their dramatic and serious moments, but they're balanced out with a lot of humor as if the folks at Marvel Studios are acknowledging the absurdity of the premise and simply want audiences to have fun with the idea of these ridiculously costumed "superheroes". By contrast the folks at DC seem to be taking themselves and their properties too seriously--perhaps intentionally to separate themselves from Marvel--and the end result is people walking out of theaters in a not-so-feel-good mood. Now, with a character like The Batman I could understand that; when he's not pretending to be a carefree and somewhat irresponsible playboy, Bruce Wayne can be a rather grim fellow given his family history. Otherwise, I think the characters in the DC universe should lighten up and have a laugh once in a while.

"Never Say Goodbye" 1946 starring Errol Flynn and Eleanor Parker
- Flynn and Parker are the one reason to watch this silly "divorced couple still love each other" story as they are talented and likable stars with sparks-flying chemistry between them
- Other than an, as-usual, solid performance from Lucile Watson, everything else is contrived fluff and silly shenanigans
- The core problem is that the answer is obvious almost from the first scene - you two should never have gotten divorced, so just remarry
- Both Flynn and Parker should have done more comedy - just with better material - as they are both very good at it
- And heck, they should probably have married in real life just so that planet earth could see the gorgeous children they'd have made

"H" - I'd never heard of this movie and was just looking for a Sci-Fi to watch after seeing "The Bride of Frankenstein" on TCM last night. Made in 2014 this weird Italian film was shot entirely IN MY CURRENT HOME TOWN!!!!! After two hours I had to step over several pieces of my totally blown mind! It's is so strange to see places you frequent in a movie, none of the names were changed, ordinary people walking left, right and sideways and I never even heard of the film before. Every restaurant shown I EAT IN! The central brownstone building used I've been in! Was this film made in an alternate reality? I never saw them shooting anything! Except for pronouncing Hoosick Street incorrectly everything was as it is today! To be honest the whole exercise creeped me out. It's like knowing some one's been in your home and left but you know who they were or how they got in. The film itself is moody, strange affair that frankly, could've been filmed anywhere... why the Director chose Troy, NY I'll never know. Sci-Fi barely, unusual, definitely. I half expected to see myself walking by? Crazy!

Remember the Night with Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray. Such a sweet film. I absolutely love when they go home to his family farm for Christmas.

My old friend insomnia paid me a visit last night, so we sat up together and watched about half an hour's worth of "Dancing Co-Ed," MGM's idea of a 1939 college comedy. I prefer Paramount college comedies, and was sorely missing Jack Oakie and Skeets Gallagher until Artie Shaw showed up to show all the gators what swing is all about. Lana Turner was in it, trying to be as much like Priscilla Lane as possible, and her dopey boyfriend was the highly resistible Richard Carlson.

I haven't seen that one (but will look for it now) and do not know the genre as well as you do, but of what of them I've seen - which is more than I'm proud of (I'll watch them for the clothes, cars and architecture) - one of the best is "These Glamour Girls" also staring Lana Turner. It's a real movie with several layers and some startling darkness for a "college" movie.
As a regular insomnia sufferer, my approach is to ignore it and use it to catch up on things - usually reading, sometimes TV and sometimes work. Usually, after ignoring it for a night (if I'm lucky) or for several (sometimes intermittently), I'll return to my not-great-but-not-insomniatic sleep pattern. But everyone is different. Good luck - hopefully, this bout passes quickly for you.

Lee was a Wing Chun exponent, and created Jeet Kune Do; both derived from Chinese origin. Norris, a Tang Soo Do stylist, learned his art while stationed in Korea,
and Lee supposedly held Tang Soo Do as a favorite style. Their spar was memorable.

My big problem with the first Thor (and it is probably just me) is the character of Kat Dennings. She is supposed to be funny, but just like her character on Two Broke Girls, she annoys the heck out of me. Get rid of her and the movie is much better off.
Overall, I really enjoy the actors playing the parts of the Asgardians. It is a quality cast which keeps getting stronger.
I'm totally the opposite. I liked the character very much. I assume they introduced her so that they could have a prominent female who was actually sexy in it, given that for a supposed romantic leasd, Natalie Portman's character was as sexless as her performance was wooden. In that regard, Portman reminded me of Kiera Knightly, especially her turn in the Pirates franchise. The third Thor film is noticeably improved by Portman's absence. Sadly, I think George Lucas' reverse Midas touvch rubbed off on her acting abilities as well as almost destroying her career.
In part I thnk it's becuse, unlike Marvel, they can't get past two or three frontline characters, and they've done them to death over the years already. Marvel has enjoyed some of its greatest triumphs when it has been prepared to take a risk on a lesser known property, like Antman or Guardians of the Galaxy.

Excellent point. I knew nothing about Guardians of the Galaxy or Antman, but boy, I have thoroughly enjoyed those films. I know that Marvel has plans to make at least 20 more films. I can't wait for Black Panther in February, either.

I have always felt that the DC universe is 'darker' than the Marvel universe. If the writers are staying true to that, it would explain a few things, as far as movie-making goes.
