What Did You Drink Last Night?

Tried a couple of Yeti Imperial Stouts last night. As a desert beer, one or two in front of the fireplace is enough. Chocolate, coffee & vanilla up front with a bit of Cayenne Pepper on the backside. At ~9.5% Abv, just because it's chocolate it's not for sissys.

Checked several NYC stores - don't carry or sold out (apparently it's a seasonal one - they get it in, sell it and, then, don't get it again 'till next year). Hence, this is a job for THE INTERNET!

And it came through - I have six bottles shipping to me from Costa Mesa, CA. I'll report back after it gets here. Thanks for the intro.

Super girlfriend is excited to try it, too, and she called dibs on two bottles for baking already.

I know you're in NY so shipping varies but I buy hard to find liquor out of CA & CO. Based on the mix I buy (I mix & match) I have figured out I can buy 4-5 fifths & the shipping cost per fifth is usually about the same as local tax. If I just bought 1 fifth at a time then my shipping cost per fifth would go way up.

Hope you like Yeti Imperial. Look forward to your opinions.

The tax savings cut the shipping cost down, but still a bit expensive (about $1.5 a bottle for shipping). The only way to get the average shipping cost down more - as you noted - would be to buy more and I don't want to do that until we know we really like it. So, while not great value, not a crazy stupid price to try something new that I couldn't find locally.

I usually have some whiskey in mind that I want to try that I will order with 3-4 hard to find regulars I buy. Both places I buy from will tell me what I can get inside the box. It's not flatrate shipping but it doesn't seem to change much because I can't overfill the box. Everything is in styrofoam & I've never had anything break. Usually comes FedEx. I've just never done it with beer. The shipping might work out buying a case; don't know.

Found a backup Four Roses (not the 12 year old stuff) and made another Whiskey Ginger (its proper name, I guess) before heading out to a Big Sandy and Reverend Horton Heat show.
:D
Actually, the show is tonight as is/are the Whiskey Ginger(s). I tend to forget the title of this page is concerned with last night.

Ours came yesterday and we tried it last night. Despite having a chocolate and coffee "base" flavor, it's not a gimmicky beer at all. We enjoyed it and only wish the pepper had brought a bit more heat. Great recommendation - thank you.

Glad you liked it. I'll be expecting a Yeti Imperial Stout pie in the mail soon! Actually I think I have two bottles left.

So many beers...so little time.
