Seeing timothiescloset's listings is like eyeing a body of water yards away, in the middle of a desert. Great hats he has, but surely I am not the only one who's complained about how ludicrous his pricing is?

His Pricing is a Running Joke here . Best to contact him and negotiate the Price , he'll come down to fair pricing sometimes , no steals though .

I've noticed. Good on the lounge members for squandering this De Beers of an eBay seller. I actually had the notion that he was a member here, I wouldn't dare denounce his practices.

Finding the perfect hat is challenging! Too many stingy brims for me

I watch e-bay some, My objective is to find a great deal. If all I really want is a great hat and price isn't a big consideration I'll just buy new. Lots of places to get a nice hat new. A hat is one of those things you can pay whatever you want for. You can buy a pretty nice hat for 150, sometimes less than that, or you can go skies the limit. Some custom hats are just insane, thousand bucks for a hat, not me. If they can get it then more power to em, hell they might even be worth it but way to rich for my blood.

Yes, I’ve done a couple of decent deals with Tim, including on my current Stetson 100.

Sometimes he will agree to a sensible offer, other times it’s best to just walk away.

He's got one I spotted that I have thought about discussing , but I'm on another Hat right now . I think I would want to be serious and reasonable in my own mind before talking to Tim . He has some nice Hats . David your Hat is Mint .

Shady Oaks I took a bit of a chance on. I guess it's a Texas thang
@Richard Morgan , did the seller ever ship this hat? I purchased the other hat they were selling at the same time and have yet to receive it. They marked it as shipped a few days ago but it has not been delivered to USPS. I have sent several messages inquiring as to the status. I am fine with slow shipping here and there, as I understand life gets in the way, but I am really upset about the lack of response to my numerous inquiries. Just curious if you have had better luck. BTW - love the hat. I could talk for days about Shady Oak Stetsons from Washer Bros. vs. Shady Oaks from Peters Bros.!

rclark: i’d love to hear your feelings on the differences between Washer/Peters. I thought all of the felt came from Switzerland, thus the same. I guess the “i thought” would be the issue in my case.
Be well. Bowen

The Washer Bros. Stetson Royal DeLuxe Shady Oak is an Open Road clone. Same felt, same sweat, etc. Manufactured by Stetson. Washer Bros. was a department store in Fort Worth.

The Peters Bros. Shady Oak is western weight "made with Swiss Hoods", with a two cord ribbon and a raw edge. Also, I believe the brim is 3".

I have a couple of Peters Bros. Shady Oaks and a Washer Bros. Shady Oak. I will put it on my list to post comparison photos in the near future (probably done here before but with the Photobucket debacle most photos were lost).

Hey rclark: wow that was fast. Gotcha. Thanks for the info. I’d never heard of Washer Bros. I know some about the Peters Bros from what i have gleened from the lounge. I do have a Shady Pine Forty/Swiss hood. It is pretty nice felt. Love the liners. A comparison would be cool. Thanks so much for your response and for all your great posts/hats. Keep em flying, and dry!!
Be well. Bowen

Greetings Bill: thanks for the input. Much of my Shady Oak(s) knowledge comes from reading your posts about them. Thank you.
Thanks for bringing so much to the table with some of my favorite lounge hats you adorn.
Be well. Bowen
PS: when will we see your Dress Blues Special? I hope not only on the Corp’s birthday!! S.F. Bowen

I’ve got the same issues with shipping. He sent a tracking number on 2/2. So far that tracking shows that he has printed a shipping label but the post office has not received the package. I’ve sent a couple of messages but no response. No idea what’s going on. I can report it to eBay after the 10th, but they will just issue a refund.

The seller is midmolo8 I suggest everyone needs to be aware that he is flakey.

I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt- maybe he got ill, etc. but to ignore messages is indeed flakey. Hopefully he is ok.
