Alec- Thanks for the tip..but i actually have a box full of original vintage "Y" braces by Hickok/Pioneer etc. Its the cord ends that does it for me..there's a Japanese guy in Japan doing repro President braces but prices are close to $400 a pop..not yet willing to part with that much doe for a...

Mullit - thanks for the tip but it doesnt quite "measure up"..i think i'm going to have to wait till a vintage one turns up somehow somewhere..i know RRL makes a passable pair as well.

Hats off to everyone up in here..so ive been searching high and low for a pair of braces that kinda come close to a pair of the Shirley President ones (minus the intricate detail in the back)..so i watched this 1930's period Danish/Norwegian flick about kids sent away to a reform school and this...

re: SM Wholesale, everything but...unfortunatley. There must be an original hidden in someone's closet somewhere, its always a game of patience when it comes to vintage, as mentioned, i'm really not a militaria buff, but that shirt and a french cyclist jacket are the two items in my cross hairs.

typo - Afrika Korps

UPDATE: indeed its eventually surfaced. Its a WW2 Afrikacorps shirt - which i suspect would be much harder to find than say a US/UK/Canadian army shirt..oh well, its a step forward atleast.

the guy in the photo not much on words..that was my first go-to person. The spear point collar design was born out of the 1930's, and this spear point collar is very well made, its the single most attractive thing about this shirt as mentioned . Yes sorry its Commonwealth i meant to say..but...

Also the buttons on the photo suggest "an original" usually the repro's use crappy buttons, also if you look at his vest, thats a WW1 issue military vest, authentic to the best of my knowledge.
