    Aged Vicenza leather

That cross country motorcycle trip nearly destroyed his Vicenza jacket. Looks like he needed a Lost World's.

Any Australians here would like some advice on a jacket purchase/customs invoice

Technically those imports with other carriers are slipping through the system. Also many sellers declare a lower value to avoid the $1000 threshold. Aero won't do that, I've asked. It's the legit thing to do but means I can't buy from Aero as it gets too expensive.

Some eBay listings show what the import taxes total up to before you buy. I don't know the exact amount offhand but it's somewhere around $300 once the $1000 threshold is crossed.

    Copper oxidation

Linseed oil stops rust on iron. Might work with stopping tarnish on brass.

    Loose thread/loop - leather jacket

I would get a toothpick or pin or something similar and just try to tuck it into the seam in the leather so it's out of sight and without snipping it.

Calling on all AERO "Happy Days" Jacket owners...

I must run colder than Seb. I also live in Melbourne and can wear a leather jacket, at least in the mornings and evenings, to the end of spring here. But I also feel FQHH would be too heavy for Brisbane winters.

    Best warm leather jackets?

Leather seems to be more of a conductor of heat rather than an insulator. It is colder to the touch than other clothing materials on cold days.

    Simmons Bilt jacket advice

I find the best way to break in the shoulder, arm and armpit area of a jacket is to drive while wearing it. I learnt that reading these forums of course. I also like to keep the jacket zipped up while breaking it in so it learns to stay in the correct position when unzipped too.

Got blocked by Simmons Bilt Instagram because my comment

I don't post often but wanted to add a few thoughts on Tom Cruise. I enjoy his movies, I think he does great at conveying the intensity of the situations his character gets into. It seems like he wants to get as many movies made as possible before the inevitable happens that he is not able to...

    eBay WARNING!

I had a jacket I bought destroyed by Pitney Bowes also. It was a deerskin leather halfbelt. The seller believes it may have been because she declared it "deerskin jacket" rather than "leather jacket" on the customs form.

    soaking Shinki horsehide in water

For me that Lightning's "after" picture is definitely not a desirable look, nor does it resemble an aged jacket. Looks water damaged and has spoilt a nice jacket.

    soaking Shinki horsehide in water

HWT on a veg tanned jacket will result in a jacket looking water damaged - not nicely broken in. Veg tanned leather often gets stiffer after getting wet which is the opposite to breaking in a jacket and having it soften up nicely. You get too many and unnatural looking creases in the arms, wavy...

    Simmons Bilt Shinki Hikaku Horsehide

I've got the very jacket that was used in the website photos for Simmons Bilt Vintage Half Belt. I believe it is the Clayton Vintage Brown. (Although the website says the pictured jacket is Horween Steerhide Black, it definitely isn't). I can vouch that the Clayton Vintage leather in brown is a...

You know you have too many leather jackets when

When your wife says, "For every new jacket you get you need to sell 5 of your current jackets."
