If it was in fact a cost cutting measure it really doesn't matter when it started. Hell, now they're trying to sell, and are I guess, Buffalo fur felt.

Stetson and any other company is in business to make a profit. I suspect that nutria came into production of hats in an attempt to cut cost from beaver fur. It obviously didn't work because a nutria hat is fairly rare.

Tandy leather has everything needed to make a hat band. I have made 3 or 4 and will make a few more this winter. They have the buckles etc.

If I would ever reach a point where I had so much money I didn't really know how much I had, [most of you know what I mean] I would probably have some Optimo hats. At that point it wouldn't matter if they are worth the squeeze!!!!

I ran into a guy with a nice western hat, really nice hat. He said he had Col. hat company make it.

I wear a 7- 1/4 and I would guess that brim to be 2 inch.

That is a nice hat. Those are really good hats and very durable but hard to form. I seldom pass one up.

I'll wager that there isn't a lot of people buying 1000 dollar hats. I don't notice any more hats than I have, beats me.
