Back to the main topic, I wear my military jackets all the time. Mainly M-1941 and M-1943 field jackets, and most of them are patched up. Some just have division patches, but others have chevrons, division/air force patches, overseas bars, etc. Never received any negative comments on them...
That's awesome! It looks like that may have been his personal jacket. Those markings are Marine Corps UNIS markings from WWII. The half circle was used by the 4th Marine Division, which Marine served in.
I usually focus on WWII military uniforms and accouterments but I have become really interested in the post-war GI look, like the 52-20 club.

For sale, early pea green mackinaw 2nd pattern with the original belt (not one thrown on). No repairs, mothing, or damage and it has all of its original buttons. The only detraction is that there is some blackish staining throughout, it looks like soot or something. Would make a great field...
