    What Are You Reading

I am "listening" the the audio-book of Andy Weir's The Martian, all 11 hours of it. Much more in-depth than the movie. The reason I'm listening to it instead of reading it is, One, I don't own a copy of the book (which was originally FREE on the internet), but downloaded the audio book for...

Let's see your archtop hollow and semihollow body guitars

I love archtops!. Have owned mostly Gretsches and Gibsons, starting with a 1964 Gretsch Tennessean I had in the late 1980s. My Mid-'60s Silvertone, which I played through my pro-gigging years of the 1990s. My matching pair of Gretsch Brian Setzer signature 6120s My 2001 Gretsch...

My latest commissioned work. A T-shirt and poster illustrtion for a Tin-Type (wet-plate) Photographer who works out of a mobile darkrrom set up in a vintage Harley Davidson sidecar. He liked the skull-faced figure in my previous illustration and wanted him as the rider, dressed in Brando's '50's...

Been seriously thinking about getting into Wet-Plate Collodion photography for some time now, and just happened across this the other day. it belonged to my girlfriend's father, who operated a photo studio in the late 1940's and 50's after returning form WWII. It's a Pony Primo #4 made around...

Here is some illustration and design work I just finished for a new album/CD by a friend's primitive blues band. The work is based off a famous photo of blues pioneer Robert Johnson.

Old Smells that Make Your Nose Wrinkle

LizzieMaine, What town do you work with? I was just up in southern Maine back in August. Beautiful country up there. Everything I saw looked like it could be on a postcard.

    Movie locations

This thread reminds me of how much money Hollywood productions waste on things that you don't see on screen. That's why 7 to 10 million dollars in Hollywood is considered a low-budget film, while some independent films shot on not even a tenth of that look more expensive on-screen.

    Movie locations

What you say makes sense. I am an occasional filmmaker myself, having worked mostly on my own personal projects but also on commercial productions. However, I have never had the luxury of working with a Hollywood crew nor with that kind of budget. Our location shoots are usually limited to...

    Movie locations

Makes you wonder why thy didn't just pick a location that looked a lot closer to what they needed. Hard to figure the Hollywood rationale.

Considering your profile pic is a slice of pizza, I take it you are a bit of a pizza connoisseur. In your opinion, what is the best pizza in NYC? I've been to Lombardi's which is supposed to be where American pizza originated. It wasn't bad but frankly I wasn't all that impressed.
