Peacoat

My Mail is Forwarded Here, Male, from Tennessee

If it is AF, then it is probably just a wool overcoat and not a bridge coat. Send me a photo in PM. I have all the characters I need there. Apr 27, 2017

Hello! Trying to buy a sterlingwear GI Peacoat on eBay, wondering if the tag should say DSCP QUARTERDECK WITH HALF SATIN LINING? Thanks!!!

I am limited to 140 characters in this medium. I can't even begin to think with only 140 characters.

I am somehow getting these messages in something called "Status." Might be better to use the PM feature. You can send photos that way.

Member Doctor Damage knows a lot about the bridge coats. I think the Navy is the only one with bridge coats.

It should have gold buttons. Can you send me a picture of the tag?

I haven't taken any pictures yet, I will tonight. How do I send them? And the buttons are definitely silver. The tag says USAF. Not much info on the history of these things really. Thank you. :-)

Hello, I have been bouncing around the web for a bit looking for information on a (maybe) USAF Bridge Coat I have. Wondering if you would know anything about it. Rank has been removed, silver buttons, and tag inside. I can't seem to find one manufactured by the same manufacturer or one with silver buttons.

Could you look at this picture and tell me if this is even a real naval issue peacoat? The seller is telling me it is and that he simply modified it to add the red lining, but I've never seen a peacoat with the flaps on the hand warmer pockets like this:

I was thrifting and found a peacoat I thought my brother would like, but it didn't fit. I decided to sell it and looked up the marking on the label when I came across your posts. I believe I have a 1970 Pembroke peacoat. Is it possible to find an original navy peacoat of this age that was never worn? It looks like new!

Hi, new to site b/c just acquired WWII Navy peacoat from garage sale. You seem to know a lot, so hoping you could help determine age? 10 plastic anchor buttons, chin strap, tan corduroy/outer pockets, & button pocket on left inside. Right inside tag reads:
"Naval Clothing Factory, Name, Rate". Anchors on top sides of tag. Let me know what you think & how to send pictures, if you like?
      Thanks!

Just saw your post, sorry, not familiar with this medium. It sounds like a valid WWII coat.

Hi there. Tried to send a PM, but guess I don't have permissions for PM's. Anyway, I understand Sterlingwear is the current maker of the USN issue peacosts, but do you know when Sterlingwear started making peacoats for the USN?

Originally they were ViMil. Probably making peacoats since the 60s or 70s. Excellent manufacturer.
