Help me to identify the decade (and type) of an old suit

What gives the decade away is the front pockets. I think they were called frontier style. Gone by the 80s but very common in the 60s and 70s. Back in the 60s it was still very common to wear suits out in the evening and this one was for outside the office.

Is this suit pattern classic or indistinctly modern for old men?

The stripe pattern is a great find. This suit will never look out of style provided that it fits well. Wear it with brown shoes for some contrast, a light grey shirt and a navy or maroon coloured tie and you are set.

Button suggestions for dark blue seersucker?

I think cream buttons might be a bit too much of a contrast but mid grey could work.

The Cordite suits are a bit of a jumble in terms of the eras that they are trying to capture. The lapels.are really too wide even for 40s and you might consider having them narrowed. The waistcoat is a little long for 30s or 40s but seems well cut. From what I can see of the pants, they are on...

Button braces– any trick for raising them in the front?

One ofnthe mysteries of life. To be worn with braces pants should ideally be higher in the back than the front, but you will find the same problem. I havenfound that the problem is most acute with loose pants. They should be snug wherebthe waist sits. On me, that is around the first rib counting...
