Anyone ever send a Jacket back to Filson's for "re-proofing" etc?

I reproofed my Tin Cruiser using a tin of the Filson wax (which didn't go very far) and a large tin of the Barbour wax. It wasn't very difficult just time consuming. I did find that if I applied too much wax it was difficult to get it to "flow" using the hair dryer. But that extra wax drys...

New Good Wear Leather A-1 (size 46) - early 1920s pattern

Yes! Very nice jacket. If I ever got another the A-1 might be it. So, these are worn with the collar down, not up?

    Waxed Cotton Jacket Maintenance Question

New England Reproofers offer a good value considering it would take several tins of Filson wax to do the job. You can buy tins of Filson Wax, Barbour dressing or others and do it yourself. You'll do it once...then send it out next time. :p There is a nice explanation here, as well...

Filson's Tin Cloth Owners, I have a Question

My Tin Cruiser is a size 36 from eBay that someone had run through the washing machine and the dryer. :p The "resulting" measurements sounded good so I bought it for a reasonable sum. New England Reproofers did the re-waxing for me, for which they charged a a little extra since the coat had...

Filson's Tin Cloth Owners, I have a Question

Ok, first you asked a question. I'll remind you: Then, you call us fanboys for conceeding that, indeed, the coats start very waxy to the touch then will give the appearance of a normal coat after a bit. I really do not think your original post was a "warning." It was a question. I also...

    Keeping Horween Chromexel leather clean

LF -- Check out Styleforum.com. There are several threads on the Wolverine 1000 mile series. You may also find some good info about Chrome Excel in the Alden thread. Lots of good info there. I don't have any of that leather myself but I'm sure those folks have something to say. They always...

Filson's Tin Cloth Owners, I have a Question

Hang in there. After a few weeks it will dry off substantially and that oily feeling with virtually disappear. The color will also lighten. In fact I just rewaxed mine because it had dried out so much after two years. The super-oily feeling you get when they are new does NOT last very...

Bought a Lost Worlds A2, is this wrinkling normal?

I'm absolutley no expert on the subject but I am a satisfied Lost Worlds customer. My ryder has a patch like that on the back of one sleeve, though maybe not as pronounced as your A-2. Perhaps post photos of the entire jacket so we can see the wrinkly patch in context? Whether the jacket...

proper length in a navy pea coat

Depending on how old you go, a 38 might measure 20" pit to pit. An "actual" 38, a coat measuring 19" pit to pit, might really be tagged 36. I know this because I am currently seeking out a 38 because my 36 (19" pit to pit") is too snug.

Confused about sizing on LL Bean DUCK Boots - Please Help

Being a 7.5 D/E, I found that trying on a 7D was quite loose all around and a 6D was way too small. I gave up but may try again this year and find the right sock combination.

    Filson oil finish trucker jacket

Most of Filson's jackets are labeled one size SMALLER than they really are. The fit on this looks good and given the style of the jacket you probably shouldn't be wearing more than a thing sweater underneath! :D Once the wax dries off a little bit the jacket will soften up.

    Cardigans for casual gentlemen

I wear the Archival Clothing shawl collar cardigan. I have the solid grey but the other colors and stripes are also tempting. I believe they designed this sweater based on an old Montgomery Ward catalog but I cannot remember for certain. I love a shawl collar and I'm not a fan of the very...
