Let me share my success story

I wanted to tell you a success story. I have a Mallory 15 that I have had for 27 odd years now.

It was my first real Fedora and I wear it all the time.
So Last fall I went to get my hat out of the closet where I keep my hats and found this on the brim.

So I tried Scout's cleaner. Didn't work.
Sent off to one hatter no luck getting the spots out.
So I tried another hatter no luck with the spots.
In the mean time I had an old Open Road style hat that needed to be rebuilt for a daily wear hat and I sent it off to Drew of Clean A Hat he did a great job adjusted the size of the hat to fit my head and sewed in a new sweatband and a Stetson Liner as it was he found out in the rebuild an old Open Road placed it in a Stetson hat box and sent it back to me.
So with that great job I asked Drew if he was up to a challenge I told him my the tale of my Mallory spot problem and he said sent it to me and let me have a try.
So this Thursday afternoon while dealing with my house being broken into and
TV's and computers being stolen. What should arrive but this box.

So after everything calmed down I opened the box to find the following.

As you can see the spots are now gone.

Drew even put a feather in my hat band.

So now I can wear my Mallory 15 again and it looks like a brand new hat.

I wish I knew. I just pulled it down to wear last fall and there they where. Made me sick as this was my first vintage hat. I now have way more protection for my hats. I am so happy that Drew was able to take care of it. After talking to several hatters who tried this was not an easy stain to remove. I think there may have been paint involed as we hat moved from an older home to a newer patio home between wearings. The old 40's home paint may have gotten on the hat during a water leak possibly. Thats my only idea.

I think I'll let these guys take a crack at my very dilapidated Dobbs Gay Prince. It needs everything.
BTW, their website needs a little cleaning up at the moment.

Call drew up an talk to him. That's what I did.
He likes to work on cleaning hats like mine. It
Makes it easy to learn from. I had him do an old
Open Road that he replaced everything even put back
a brown stetson liner in it made it like new.
It's my wear to work hat now. Since I work at a industrial
Bakery the Mallory hats stay at home. ;)

D'oh!

I have a couple of fur felts in need of news sweats I keep meaning to send to you from here in Knoxvegas. Glad to hear good reports. Nice to have another regional hatter. I am capable of some things, but often my reach exceeds my grasp. See below. :eusa_doh:

Once looked like:
