Well it is Irish style as I have cobbled together odds and ends of mine to give an Impressionists view of Indiana Jones! so, just take me with a 'wee' pinch of salt!

I hold my hands up to say I don't have all the kit, but then I guess Indiana types in the 30's would have just grabbed whatever came to hand and hit the dirt track!

So it's my Knox 20, an old khaki shirt of mine, military K-1's (40's style), timberlands and a military US belt. That's it folks, ready to save the day and back home in time for tea & medals!!

For the purists who have to have things 'just so,' forgive me for being just left of centre, but I'll get an Indy hat someday, maybe once Fedora is up and running :)

I also wanted a temple in the background, and all you got was my back yard! But it can be an adventure in my garden, sometimes!!

Now armed with his oil pull A-2..!

Actually Indy's jacket, looks to me very like an A-2 with the knits taken off, so maybe this isn't too far off the mark!

When I feel a bit flush, I might get Ken at Aero to knock up an Indy type 30's jacket in either front quarter horse, or oil pull horse hide. Something that can take wars thrown at it and come out the other side laughing!!

Paddy,
With all due respect, with your facial shape could easily get away with a higher crown and wider brim - in fact, I think it would look great on you. Have you ever considered it? You are one of the few that I have seen recently that look natural in the gear. Must come from years of practice.

Rick, you know how to make a young man smile!

Never thought of the higher crown, wider brim Rick, but I might just venture in that direction at some point down the road, as I do want to try for an earlier vintage styled hat.

But now that I look at it guys, I still have that military, rather than Indy look, I just can't seem to shake the soldier out of me for some reason...

And yes...it does all seem more PADDY and less INDY! Maybe Harrison could hire me as a side-kick in the next gruelling installment!!

Thanks for the comments guys anyway, certainly put the biggest smile on my face!!

Guinness and Corn-cob pipes..!

Well the Guinness is the easy part to get for that perfect INDY-PADDY look..! I personally prefer the old fashioned Guinness out of the bottle, that has a brown furry head which you could shave with!

My next little buy, will probably be a General MacArthur corn-cob pipe, as to me that looks like a piece of art work! and definitely not your everyday pipe that you would find on the Scottish borders (where I live).

As you can probably tell, I tend to borrow ideas and features that I see in others and adopt and adapt for myself. So I'm probably a little bit of Indy, but a mish-mash of many others too.

I guess that shows in the picture I took. I just cannot look like your perfect Indiana Jones! The great thing is though, was that he is fictional, and I suppose the guy that created him, borrowed different characteristics and inspirations from other adventurers of those heady 1930 times!

Forget Indy, I'm seeing Tokyo Joe! Looks great, Paddy...

I'd try to pull off that look myself, but I'd probably get sick of all the 'Are you trying to be Indiana Jones?' comments. The gangtser comments bother me enough as it is.

From one Irish to another, you need the bigger brim and crown. You have that shape to pull it off. I think the hat you wear in the shot is a bit small and unbalanced to your fine shape.

Cheers!

Higher crown/wider brim..? decisions...

Hi there Bob! (I got this lovely hat off Bob btw chaps!)

Just indented the bashes a wee bit more Bob and seems to suit the hat without taking anything away from it. Just a gentle steaming and pressing with my hands did the trick. Thanks for the nice comments.

Seems the guys are encouraging me to go in your direction though and look towards higher crowns and wider rims! What do you think?

Am I running before I am crawling at this game..?

Hope all's well with you and your folks anyway!

(PS; Thanks Kev for the feedback too, it's interesting how others see things that you don't see about yourself! Almost like looking in a mirror, but a knowledgeable mirror!! cheers for that!).

Paddy,
I think the wider brim/taller crown would look great on you as well...when you posted that photo of the Seabiscuit trainer's hat and said that's what you wanted...well, I had one like it, so I thought I'd pass it on to you! I think this hat looks good on you...but of course, I'm a big fan of tall crown and wide brim (which is why I was selling that hat in the first place), so I think everyone looks good in those.
by the way, my PM box is empty again, so you can send away...
