Long Half Belt vs Stockman/Teamster photos needed.

Anybody own both the Stockman and Long Half Belt from Aero? I'd like to see photos of both worn by the same person. I'm in the long queue for a steerhide-to-horse replacement, and I'm on the fence whether I should get another Long Half Belt or go for a Stockman in FQHH instead. Somewhere between myself, Mark Moye and Scotland, my measurements got exaggerated a bit. My LHB was so stiff at first, and it was warm weather when I received it, that it was hard to tell how poorly it fit. Once it limbered up a little bit, the result was not at all what I waited 8 months for. I somehow ended up with so much excess material in the chest that I have both a bi-swing back and front! The half belt itself sits right on top of my real belt, and I don't wear my pants up by my belly button! Not what I usually encounter in a jacket, as I'm 6'5" and 290 lbs. I'm a little leery about the LHB now, which was always my favorite Aero design. Some folks get lucky, like my pal Worf, and end up with a great fitting jacket on spec. For other bigger guys like me (52 long), it's always a toss of the dice when it's long distance. The LHB is cool, but there's a lot of material there. I'm wondering if the simpler lines of the Stockman might create less chances for funky fit. If any of you gentlemen have photos of you wearing both, that would surely help me make up my mind. I'd like to be sure when Aero starts making my replacement in January. Edited to add request for Teamster vs LHB photos also. Thanks, Frank

For what it's worth, and similar to Frank, my LHB came out all wrong, but that was under the previous regime where mods were allowed regardless of aesthetics. I was so unsure of it that I didn't take any pics of me wearing it and traded it in a month later. One thing that didn't work for me was the long zip, which was impractical for sitting down, although my jacket was longer than standard.

Frank, if you're unsure about the LHB, I'd consider the choice as being between the Teamster and the Stockman. I have both and love them to bits, with the Teamster being shorter and more shaped with the buckles, and the Stockman being longer, squarer and more forgiving. You wouldn't go wrong either way.

Frank are you looking for something longer to cover your buttocks so to speak like a car coat or would something shorter do like say a 50's halfbelt? After having worn one I can definately attest that the full zip on the LHB can be uncomfortable, but I usually unzip the coat when driving and zip it when walking. Perhaps the button design of the Stockman might be more comfortable and better fitting. I'd really like for you to get EXACTLY what you're looking for or paid for.

Worf - not really concerned so much about my buttocks, I usually cover them with pants. Usually. I just know that with my build I look better in something with a bit more length. I've been wearing my poorly fitting LHB the last week or so because it finally got chilly here, and I'm definitely starting to think buttons would be better for me. On the few occasions I wore it zipped up in my car (hate the heater), it looked like someone smashed my head down into my torso, and I could hardly see past the shoulders to look out the window. The Teamster is looking good right now, as it's got buttons, the half belt (a feature I like the look of) and a bit less length than a real "car coat." I was looking at the Stockman, but the Teamster is ahead by a nose right now. So anybody with some good Teamster vs Long Half Belt photos, please post! Thanks, Frank

I'd still love to see more Teamster photos, preferrably with folks wearing them. Trying to get a good idea if I made the right choice as far as length, as I've changed my Horse/Steer replacement from a LHB to a Teamster. Any photos would be appreciated while I endure the long wait. Thanks, Frank

Perhaps it is just me (it probably is) but I find both LHB and Teamster too close to the body in those photos.

I admit to struggling with anything that has the words "slim fit" in its description but it looks like just raising your arms is going to lift the jacket. Plus it seems that all but the thinnest jumpers can find space yet allow you to close it down.

S-J, the second pic is a Stockman, which is normally considered a car coat. I think it's fair to say that the Insurrection guy likes 'em tight, if you look at his other pics. I err on the side of roomy and my Stockman looks totally different on me.

I third what they said, the Stockman is meant to have a longer, car-coat fitting form factor with much more roominess than the OP's pic shows. It is designed as a layering piece over a suit, heavy sweater, etc. I've honestly never seen one fit the way it does in that picture. Not that it is a "bad" look, just quite different than the way mine or anyone else's has fit that I've seen.

Bob, I examined your Stockman pics in great detail before ordering mine, so thanks for posting back then. Hope your concerns got resolved, one way or another.

I think the Stockman pic here is more the way a Teamster should look and fit, but whatever floats your boat.

Any of you guys know the difference in back length between the Teamster and the Stockman, if they were the same size? I get what you're saying about the photos and the fit/length, but they are good for getting an idea on the details. I'm not particularly interested in wearing any jacket that tight, but everyone has their own style. Keep those pictures coming, Teamster photos seem pretty hard to come by, and I think I've seen the ones that are readily available. Frank

Aero should confirm the standard back length difference, but my understanding was that a 40" Stockman was about 3.0-4.0" longer than the Teamster.

My 40" Teamster is 28.5 long, but I asked for that so don't know the standard length for that size, which may possibly be 0.5-1.0" shorter. My 38" Stockman has a reduced back length of 30".

Which is EXACTLY how the jacket should fit; shorter than a car coat, but longer than a long half belt or Teamster, etc.
