Thank you so much for all your help and advice, everyone!

At the end of the day, I think you guys are probably right- I'm not going to not be a curvy hourglass any more, probably just a bit of a tighter, smaller one!
Compliments on your exercise regime, regular exercise isn't just healthy, it keeps you supple well into your dotage. No problem bending, doing up shoe straps, slipping on stockings. But you don't have to sacrifice the hourglass. A figure like your's is so enviable, but in a corset, it would be an absolute knock out. And there are some amazing corsets to be bought. But beware, they are both expensive, and addictive.
She wears them, I pay for them. If you look any up on line, do come back and share any links.

Oh my goodness, Sacred...

I don't think I could get any more overwhelmed from a compliment.

I haven't blushed this much in years. Thank you.

I have the same problem as I row for my university, which means (in an ideal world) around 9 hours on the water a week, another hour or so on a rowing machine and weights twice a week! I'm not a strict hourglass at 37, 27, 37 and 5'7'' (wow thats a lot of 7s!)and I was definitely worried about losing the curves I have and especially in increasing my thighs. So far I've managed to avoid that but I make sure to keep eating well and to try to make sure I don't focus too much on any particular muscle group.
I know you posted this a little while ago - how are you finding it now? It sort of depends on what other exercises you do as well - if you're only running and cross training i.e. mainly cardio then you'll most likely tone pretty evenly so it shouldn't really be enough to go against your natural shape. If you were doing a lot of weights training or sprints then you might need to balance that by eating more or alternating with non-weight bearing cardio like swimming which would improve fitness without necessarily changing your figure. Actually, you get most of your power from your bum when you run so you might end up with a bit more shape :p I know fellow FL member and blogger Fleure De Guerre runs so you might like to check out her blog for any insights she may have if it's still worrying you :)

and I have to say to both Lenore and Sacred - both of you are absolutely gorgeous and I'm sure you could wear garbage bags and still look fabulous and vintage doing it :) I'm a little (a lot!) jealous of both of you every time i see your avatars :)

Your probably already know this GHT but What Katie Did have some beautiful corsets (and other stuff!), and they are in your neck of the woods too.

These hot summer days are making it extremly hard to keep up with my daily rituals.
My body has a lower tolerance to the heat. I am obligated to reduce my exercise intensity.
I'd rather do it a bit slower, that get those nasty cramps in the middle od the night.

Personally, from this man's perspective, I much prefer soft curves. I fail to understand why any man would want a "hardbody" woman. To me defined abs are very unattractive (on a woman). In fact just about any defined muscle group on a woman just makes her look masculine. Not at all attractive in my book. I much prefer a lady with a few extra pounds any day of the week, as long as she is healthy. Just my 2 cents.
I had to ask my husband if he was on the Fedora Forum he says the exact same thing. After 30 years of marriage to the 'skinny wife' he's absolutely thrilled I finally got curves! Finally, something about aging thats nice!
All that to say, I have found that walking works best for keeping my 'aerobic' health in good shape (4 miles up and down a hilly canyon) few times a week, and using 5 pound handweights on the walk keep my arms tone: so I'm heart healthy without losing my curves which makes a happy husband
I reeeeeally likes happy husband

Yes, walking is among best ways to stay fit.. and if it’s being done in good company,it can become quite a joiful experience. :D

Aww, thank you, that's very sweet of you to say! Quite funny to me when I think of how many times I drop out of dressing vintage for a week and then drop back in full force.

Quick update from me: I'm still running on a semi-regular basis and doing yoga. I can't say I've noticed much of a difference in my body at all f I'm honest. Maybe I'm a tad broader and more muscular.

I've also invested in the Jawbone Up bracelet and oh my, it is a revelation. Very "big brother is watching you" but for a data nerd like me it is a dream to see my walking and sleeping pattern. One thing though, I wouldn't exactly say it's ugly as a lot of thought has clearly gone into the design but it's so, so sporty! Any tips on how to make something so modern looking blend in? I'm dreading wearing it as evening wear but it is so helpful.

Oh my goodness. I just saw this as I've been trying to limit my computer time. Thank you so very much, Pineapple. I've been feeling rather down lately since I'm in the midst of growing my hair out and it looks pretty funky. I really needed to hear something fabulous to start off this nasty rainy day we've got going on down here.

And not that it's vintage related, but Aang is awesome too. ;)

Another update: Going to the university gym quite regularly now which includes weight lifting in my regime. I've also taken a page out of Dita's book and started regular pilates. Things are looking pretty good.

How's everyone else's fitness going?

Also, how do you manage to keep a pin curl set while sweating? I've not had the motivation to do mine as all I crave post gym is a shower and to wash my hair!
