My Aero A-2!

Just got my hands on a new Russet horse 42-15142-P A-2 with spun silk lining from Aero. It was on the sale page, where I've nabbed several bargains. This one was reduced to £240 because of a couple of marks where some paint had to be removed from one of the cuffs-you have to look pretty hard to see them. I've had my eye on a russet A-2 with a silk lining for a few years now, came close to ordering one a while back, but circumstances changed as they so often do, and it went out of the window. I was close to going for an Indian Goatskin A-2 until this appeared, had to have it! Fits me really well too, although photos of me in it will have to wait until Christmas-it's gone back in the box until then!

Sweet!

OH MY GOODNESS! That is spectacular! I bought my goatskin FlightSuits last year, and did toy with this instead.

My brother has lots of these in his collection (I do hats, he does leather jackets)

This one looks wonderful. Is the hide stiff? or do they soften it?

Sorry, I am no expert.

Thanks Chaps,

This is Aero's smooth horsehide, which hasn't been drummed like their 'jerky' horse, so it hasn't been softened to bring up the grain. They do say that it takes longer to wear in. It is fairly stiff, but not excessively or uncomfortably so, and I'm looking forward to giving it plenty of wear to get it softened up. Some boys like to use the hot water treatment to speed up the wearing-in process and bring up the grain, but I prefer to just wear the hell out of a jacket in all weathers, generally mistreat it a bit and let nature take its course. I have to confess that after watching 'Catch 22' I took my faithful Eastman steerhide A-2 outside and kicked it round the patio to give it some patina, but I'm keeping this as my 'dress' A-2 so I won't be going to that extreme!

Nice A2.
The horsehide is very grateful. The more you use her, it will see that the better her is staying. The experience that I have with the Horsehide is that hablanda and it gives a more old look with the time better than the steerhide.

Her enjoy health.:)

Regards.

Thanks for the kind words, chaps,

I'll post some pics of me in it when it's allowed out of the box again! BTW, before anyone gets the impression that I get flight jackets bought for me for Christmas on a regular basis, I'd better point out that although my wife is contributing, this is mainly my Christmas present to myself-I shall be working a night shift on December 25th, so I want something to look forward to!

OK, as promised..

...If I can get this linking business to work, a shot of me and my new Aero 42-15142-P on a damp and very windy day out at Land's End (note Longships lighthouse in the background-good diving out there). I'm very well pleased with the jacket, it's the first A-2 I've had from them, and it contrasts markedly with my well-worn Eastman steer A-2. The cut is far more trim and military, and the horse is going to take a good bit of wearing in-I'm wearing it everywhere at the moment. The rust silk lining is fantastic. Also note the pic of my daughter making herself useful looking after Daddy's B-3 whilst he poses for photographs!

OK, hopefully should be all right now-I hadn't made the album public-my apologies, I tend to stumble around the cyber-world bumping into things and getting to places the long way round.
