First time reading through this thread...
AS a kid we would go to the Pine Brook Auction and run up and down the myriad aisles while the grownups bought lawn chairs and hedge shears or whatever... Adjacent was O'Dowd's Dairy... an actual dairy farm with a store and an ice cream counter and grazing cows in the back. I can remember huge cups of Black Rasberry, Peach, Strawberry and Cherry Vanilla... all with great clumps of real fruit in every mouthful.
Sadly the Auction and the Dairy are no longer there.
Thanks for enabling me to remember these childhood experiences...

Giolitti in Rome, right near the Pantheon has some of the best gelato in Italy. It's all good!

In Sicily, in the city of Catania, the gelato specialty is made with ricotta cheese. It's incredibly good,and many gelaterie there have variations, including large pieces of chocolate in the gelato.
