My first post on this forum. I've been lurking for a while as a non-registered user and that's been adequate, but I was thinking about felted furs and the different furs that have been used over the years to make hats.
Is there a link that will answer this question? It is obvious from reading the different posts, that many of you here are extremely knowledgeable about fedoras, styles, etc.
I know about beaver, and rabbit, and hare, and nutria, and have read that muskrat is sometimes used as a base. I read that Montecristo uses mink in their top line. Has deer or goat (I'm thinking cashmere) or chamois, or llama/alpaca ever been felted? Perhaps that's what the hats from the Andes are made from..??
This is really idle curiosity. I'm more curious about the odd-ball furs than the run-of-the-mill, not to disparage beaver (!!)
