Sizing Question - Alden vs AE

I've done quite a bit of searching here, and can't quite find an answer. I am wondering if someone with a pair of Aldens on either the Hampton or Aberdeen last can tell me how they fit compared to AE Park Avenues. I know those particular Aldens are supposed to be true to size. What about the AE's? Do they run a bit big, or are they true to size also?
Thank you!

In my experience the Park Avenue are true to size, with the caveat that they are tight on my foot across the arch (I have high arches) and the lacing flaps are quite wide apart when laced (again on my high arches). I have one old pair in 11 which is too big and one in 10.5 which cramps my arches. For what is worth the leather on the newer pair has a sort of matte finish which is difficult to shine like the older pair.

All of my Aldens are blucher/derby/ loafer models, but I have tried on Alden straight tip Oxford/bal shoes and would say they are true to size and still roomier in the arch than AE.

I would go with the Alden.

As with many shoe manufacturers, each has a variety of "lasts," (or in hatter's terms, "blocks") on which shoes are crafted. Slight variations in the lasts' style and shape will make for slight variations in size. That's why both AE and Alden specify which size chart or last applies to each shoe style. Either company should have the ability to fit your footsies fine, but unless you are familiar with the last (perhaps from an earlier shoe purchase using the same last/mold) it's always best to try them on.

I have bought AEs for many years and have just found Aldens in the last year. I wear an 11A and have a very narrow heel. My two Aldens with differnet last, all fit great, while the recent AE 11A vary greatly in heel width.

So for fit and quality I am hooked on Aldens.
