Oh hurrah! Yes! That's it! Thanks Imoldfashioned! You are an absolute doll!

What a pity that it's not on Netflix, but I'll certainly check out that Wikipedia page.

that show must have been such a hassel if they were being period correct in every episode. Costumes, Sets, Hair, Make Up, and all to be redone every week

another possibility

"Remember WENN" was a great show, however I wonder if Miss Dottie is thinking of "The Lot". It had the great Holland Taylor dishing Hollywood scandal, Linda Cartellini as an up and coming starlet and the daughter of a make-up woman at the studio, Victor Webster as a latino actor that the studio is grooming for stardom if they can make him more anglo and the always amusing Allen Garfield as the studio head.
Gatfield had one of the lines when explaining that contrary to rumours the Jews don't run Hollywood, when asked for an Irish producer he replies "David O'Selznick" lol
AMC also had an even shorter lived series about a movie house in a small town. I think the show was called "The Bijou", "The Grand" or something like that.

Sincerely,
The Wolf

I never got a period correct feeling from WENN. I got sort of a let's-have-fun-with-it feeling – like a Nero Wolfe targeted to older folks' soft-focus memories, with gentler humor.

I think I did have in mind "Remember WENN" but those other two series, "The Lot" and "The Bijou" sound divine! I would watch them again in a heart beat.

I wonder how you can influence AMC to put some of their shows on DVD. Hmmm... I wonder if pinging them with a couple of emails might do the trick?

Don't mention it Dottie, glad I could help! It was interesting to read the Wikipedia page and hear that AMC was sold. I noticed a real shift in the tone of AMC around that time and the sale explains it.

I really miss the AMC show Reflections on the Silver Screen. Richard Brown has a series now but I think they're mostly modern folks. I loved hearing from all those Golden Age stars.

I haven't thought about Remember WENN in years:)

I really enjoyed it when it was on and was so disappointed when it was cancelled, and disappointed when AMC stopped showing classics:mad:

Do you mean Remember WENN? Took place backstage during the 1940s at a radio station?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remember_WENN

Available here but pretty spendy:

There are a couple of fan sites listed at Wikipedia though, maybe some fan there could hook you up cheaper? If this is the series you are thinking about, that is!

Bless you for posting this! I'll be getting it as soon as I have the cash! I have been looking for these forever! I have 1 VHS tape with several episodes on it, and I watch every month or so....My whole family enjoyed this program and we were disappointed when it went off air...

They're also pirated (illegally dubbed) copies taped off TV - reports are they're pretty shoddy as well.
