Aero 20-something year old Zip Sleeve Highwayman

Well, most of you probably saw my recent post about being excited to receive a 25 yo Highwayman, only to have it stolen in the post.

During that debacle, Denny from Aero reached out to me to see if he could help at all.
Given that I was excited to receive a vintage item, he thought there could be a good fit with a jacket that he had in stock. Let me be very clear here that this was not a sales opportunity call, rather an extremely generous offer of assistance to one of their customers.
I haven't experienced that kind of service for......... probably ever.

To cut a long story short, we came to an agreement about this amazing jacket, the newest into my stable & I couldn't be happier!!

Denny (& Aero), thank you immensely.

Here it is.....
Made in 'the early nineties', this is at least 20 years old & made from Connolly Steerhide. It is buttery soft, has amazing grain & best of all is pretty much a perfect fit - the trifecta!

It has been worn & it shows in several places - all adding to the character. The overall condition I would say is excellent, although there is wear and a couple of minor tears in the lining (to be expected - it is 20+ years old).
The Zip Sleeve Highwayman provides a different look with the front yoke. I probably wouldn't have gone looking for this, but somehow it has found me. I have to say that after having it for 24 hours, I actually prefer this to the normal design. Considering I do have a couple of 'one chest pocket' jackets, this actually compliments my existing jackets perfectly.

Enough of me rambling on, here are some pic's for your viewing pleasure;

It looks good and that hide is lovely. It was a real shame that Connolly’s overreached themselves and went bust. They produced some wonderful leather and were the suppliers of Rolls Royce seat leathers as well as to almost all the higher end British cars. I had several Jaguars years ago with Connolly’s seats and the leather wore so well and could always be brought back to new looking with Connolly's Hide Food. I still use Connolly’s Hide Food now. It’s changed its name since but it’s still the same stuff.

That's a great gesture from Denny and Aero. It's certainly to be applauded. I prefer the zip sleeve highwayman to the standard one. I'm still hoping your other one turns up at some stage, in the interim, great result.

Connolly is such a nice hide, the grain is just wonderful on this jacket - as is the jacket! And it's a perfect HWM fit! This may all have turned out for the best as I doubt the other one would've looked this good. Congratulations and a really nice gesture from Aero to do this.

Very nice for Denny to reach out to you in that way. We tend to forget Aero is a family run business rather than a big corporation, and the Calders are good people!

BTW very nice HWM with exceptional fit.

Great fit and a beautiful grain to the leather. Thank you for the close up shots, now I will be able to recognise Connelly steerhide - First good pic of it I've seen.
Well done Aero Leather Clothing!

Nice happy ending here. Sometimes being a small community ends up bickering, but in this case, a nice gesture for a bad situation turns out a win-win. Congrats @dan_t and to Aero for making a guy happy today.

Sweet jacket, and what a decent thing to do! Now, I had a cafe racer got ripped off at CBGB's thirty years ago. Denny, what do you say? Denny?
