What was the last TV show you watched?

I was recording them off of MeTV (I think that was the channel as, once I set the series for recording, I just watch the shows when they show up in my recorded menu), but they must have stopped showing them as I haven't gotten a freshly recorded episode in a few months. That aside, have you found that they cut a lot out when you see them on TV versus your DVDs? The episodes I've recorded feel chopped up and the commercials go on for ever (even fast-fowareding past them takes awhile), so my guess is they cut a lot out when they show them versus what was originally there.

Absolutely. They cut out far too much. And yes, the commercials go on forever. I've watched a few episodes on that channel and can barely stand it. And it's funny that I know exactly the parts they cut out! LOL

Power watched A&E's telecast of the new British production of War & Peace. It was wonderful. True to Tolstoy, gorgeous cinematography and top notch performances. Six hours well spent.

For St. Valentine's Day my wife and I had wanted to see a film after dinner, I'd hoped to see Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (combining two of my great literary and film loves, Jane Austen, and zombies). Sadly, it was not at our local theatre, even though that is where I'd seen the promo poster in the first place last year!

We knew we had recorded Walking Dead, so we rented a dvd of Brooklyn 99, which I saw and loved on ship during my deployment. So, after an incredible episode of TWD, we saw two and a half episodes of B99 for a good laugh. I'd not seen the first several episodes of season one on ship, so they were new to me as well as my wife!

Ripper Street and The Andy Griffith Show. I do not think that I will ever tire of the Andy Griffith Show. It is a timeless show that has always made me laugh out loud.

SPEW!!!!! Wha wha what???!!!! I couldn't take one hour of this thing. I guess I was spoiled by the Russian version from back in the day. Different strokes I suppose.

Madoff - A well intentioned mini-series covering the life and crime of "Uncle Bernie". Richard Dreyfus was a poor choice to play Bernie if you ask me. Too likable to play so crass and despicable individual. The only ones coming off looking worse than Madoff is the S.E.C. who were warned all the way back in '99 that massive fraud was going on, but wouldn't/couldn't do anything about it. Bernie was an equal opportunity thief though he robbed from the rich, the poor, charities and everyone in between. There was one scene though that truly liked. Madoff is under house arrest and is railing that he's "small potato's" and was one thief in a sea of thieves that was/is Wall Street. The sub-prime bubble had just burst and he, perhaps better than others, knew just how rigged the financial system was/is rigged. One interesting note though, he was supposed to be making his clients MILLIONS off of stock transactions and NEVER purchased a single one!

Wow, I purchased a dvd of the Russian version just to see the lavish production as the most expensive movie ever made and found it tedious.
I loved the casting in this new version with Paul Dano as Pierre and Lily James as Natasha were perfect and brilliant. Overall I thought the cast was perfect......Brian Cox as Kutusov was one on my faves.

Y'know, I think it will be happy endings for everyone but Mary. I may be wrong, but I think she will not have a future husband by the time it's all said and done.

I tried watching the new A&E version of "War and Peace" and I gave up after 30 minutes. I was simply bored. Now, this could be because I've had the flu for the past three days!
