3-Snap Boxer Briefs

When I was younger and in the service I wore these boxer briefs with 3 snaps on the fornt. There was a sort of yoke that went around the waist of the briefs. They were very comfortable. I believe my father also wore them and they may have been part of the times or part of the overall militaruy culture I was in.

I still wear them today but... They are becoming increasingly hard to find. Sears used to sell them but stopped carrying them around 1990. It took me time to find another source which turned out to be Penny's. The Penny's product was not the same quality and did not have as much crotch room as the other models but was the only thing available. Now with Penny's doing a bad job of changing their product lines and marketing I think this source may dry up as well.

Anybody else have this dilemma?

Don't ship to the UK, or I'd give them a go. If they did these in a neat-fitting jersey material (I'm happy to compromise on that element of authenticity in exchange for comfort!), they'd be ideal for me.

For those of you who like yoke front boxer shorts, may I suggest looking at Brooks Brothers tie back or French back boxers. I believe they might even be on sale till the end of the month.

Very cool! Thanks. Would like to find some of these with the snap front. The Brooks Brothers are good too but vewy pwicey.

You can occasionally find NEw Old Stock on e-bay or Pinteresrt. Just bought a Sears pair from the 40's or 50's on Pinterest that were my size with a great vintage pattern. The Penny's shorts have improved a bit but they are 65%cotton/35%polyester which just doesn't work in summer.

That's what my father used to wear, too. I wasn't aware JC Penny had them and that's where I bought my last packages of underwear. I should have looked harder. I figured that style went out with garters, which my father also wore when he got all dressed up. Referring to boxer shorts in general, some brands are much thinner than others.

Something funny here. When I went in the army in 1965, I was wearing brief-style underwear; they issued boxer shorts. When my son went in the army about twelve years ago, he was wearing boxer shorts; they issued briefs.

They only have them on line, not in their stores.
When it's 90 degrees and 85% humidity I prefer the thinnest 100% cotton i can find.
Sounds like the Army .

Foxer, it seems that you were right about JC Penny not carrying the yoke fronts anymore. I did see that J Peterman is having a sale on their WWII Boxer Drawers. Still pricy but nowhere near as much as Brooks Bros. I've seen them on there as cheap as $14. I know $14 isn't cheap but they are good quality. They don't have snaps but they appear to be authentic replicas. Did the ones you wore in the service have side ties or elastic, button or snaps?
