What hat are you waiting for today?

Aaaaargh!!! Ordered a BGGCD from EA last week to be delivered to my office instead of my house. It cleared customs yesterday and, believe it or not, was out for delivery today.

Business closed. Aaaaargh!!! I figured I wouldn't get it until next week, but this is killin' me! On top of that, I won't be in my office on Tuesday, as I'll be in Columbus. So I won't see it until Wednesday. Or late Tuesday if I can swing by on my way home.

Curse your good service and efficiency, Sam at EA!

Did I say Aaaaargh!!! Yet?

I just settled with Art Fawcett on a burgandy ribbon for my new Milan, so I'm hoping I'll see it in the next week or so. In the meantime, I ordered a pair of boots from Nordstom Rack last Tuesday. They got picked up by UPS on Wednesday and have been sitting in their facility in San Bernardino ever since. They don't respond to inquiries, and their so-called tracking is a farce. I went to their chat-room and was informed that there were four people ahead of me and that the waiting time was four minutes. Half an hour later there were eight people ahead of me and the waiting time was still four minutes.
Has anyone noticed the new and improved systems that some of the more advanced companies are using to make you wait? My wife and I went to the Apple store recently to get her ipad fixed. First, they took it and told us to come back in two hours: when we came back a rep told us, as if he was our best friend and he was doing something special just for us, to hang around just outside the store and he'd call us in a couple of minutes; half an hour later when they finally called, we were escorted to a table that seemed to be just outside of the magical circle where people were actually going to the long table at the back of the store where people were evidently actually getting their computers back; after a half hour of this, we were led into the magical circle where we got to speak to the guy in the green shirt, who informed us that we were almost there. An hour later we went to the big table, where we eventually got the damned thing.
I recently ordered some things from Gustin Jeans and am presently getting their version of the above. First, they give you an estimate of a month to a month and a half. Then, after two months, they tell you that your pants are now being cut. Two weeks later they're in sewing. Then they've migrated to being stacked and should be going out in the next week or so. I guess it's "or so' as the week came and went.
At least Sam at EA tells you it's going to be about three months, and so it is. This techno-BS is really starting to wear thin.

Bob, the term techno-BS really sums it up. Although I haven't had your experience with Apple, I've had the same experience with Gustin Jeans. Nothing is ever produced within the timeline they promise. I wish they would just be honest up front, but I don't think honesty is even a held value anymore. It seems everyone thinks that if you mislead people they won't notice. At least with Art, you're dealing with someone who runs a small business, who has integrity, and you can correspond with him and he'll give you a straight answer straight away.

By the way, in keeping with the topic, I'm in the queue for two hats from Art. I'm looking forward to getting them.

Woot, my custom hat is in its final stage!
Now @EstherWeis only needs to punch holes around the back of each side. i'm quite excited. This is gonna be my first custom hat!
it has a relatively short brim and a low crown but is not a trilby per se.
That's the kind of hat I was looking for earlier
It will have a tan leather sweathband. The ribbon is silk-linen blend. I have chosen pleated fabric instead of a traditional grosgrain. I think it looks a bit less formal while remaining quite stylish

Will surely post more pics once it arrives.

What is Art's approx. wait time? I inquired at BlackSheep and an order today will be done by Christmas.....I am old and not sure I want to assume the risk of a wait that long. Mr Gannon is but weeks and Mike at NW is 3 months (and that is excruciatingly long in my impatient world).

I've never asked Art how long it will take. On average he usually delivers in about six weeks or so, but it can be slightly more or slightly less, depending on how busy he is, I assume. I just order and then one day I get an email notifying me the hats are shipped.

Probably a fairly recent Stetson Silverbelly OR. 4x Beaver. It looked decent but I've never owned a Stetson Silverbelly color, or an OR or wore a cattlemen crease either, so I dont kno if I'll like it. Hope so... Does anybody kno if there's any beaver in this hat and if its a real stiff western weight felt? Or maybe when it was made? Thx for any info my friends.

Bob, to answer your questions, the 4x almost certainly contains zero (or very little) beaver fur.

These ORs are not heavy western felt. I've owned several and some have been very soft and light. The older the better, in general although there are exceptions.

The hat looks to be in great shape, I think you'll like it.

Thanks, I wear the Falcon Park hat a lot....my wife says it is the one that suits me the best. If it fit her I would have a fight on my hands for wearing rights.

Don't know if the US have the same laws as in Europe, but if it didn't had any beaver at all, Stetson could be sued.
Don't know what is the lowest percentage of fur of a animal can be added to a felt.
I think thats true cuz i believe some Stetson hats say "Beaver Quality" that don't contain any beaver but i could be wrong.
