Hello all!
I just wanted to show you guys some pics of me in my US WW2 uniforms! Hope you'll enjoy!
June 1944, 507th PIR/82nd Airborne.

Looks good! I see you do 507th PIR very cool! I had a real good friend who was a 507th vet, he was captured a few weeks after DDay and spent the rest of the war as a POW at a camp in Poland. This guy kept EVERY single paper item he ever got while in the service, right down to soup can labels from red cross packages he received while a POW. It was really quite amazing. I was lucky enough to be allowed to interview him when I was in high school for the veterans history project, I was the first person he had ever told his entire story to. When his children saw the recording of the interview, they were amazed.

But you look good! Are you with a 507th group?

BTW what's written on the side of your helmet? What's the significance behind it?

I was with a ww2 reenactment group called Yankees, based in France. I met a few 507th vet, in the town of Graignes where the 507th actions became sadly famous.
On my helmet is painted Mary, the name of my "character's"girlfriend.

Viv, not bad. You even took care to have a correct haircut!
Only a couple of minor points for accuracy.... rawhide laces weren't in wide use in jump boots until Sept. Market/Garden operation.
Also in regards to the boots, 2nd Rangers were issued standard service boots and leggings for Normandy.
All-in-all a very good series of impressions.

According to some documents (i cannot prove it right now), some units in the 2nd Rangers were given some jump boots after doing the 5 Jumps. A ranger vet told me once that he landed in normandy with these and he one day fought in a bar against two guys of the 101st because he refused to give up his boots. Of course he kicked their asses. ^^ Thank you for the advices!

Jump boots were also issued to the Engineer Special Brigades supporting the Normandy landings because it was thought that they were better suited for working in sand.

an ancient thread but I wanted to say great job ! Ans yes from what Ive read some Ranger wore jump boots, but I don't have any documentation on that. Additionally of course as you know, WWII guys didn't index their trigger fingers.

The canteen on top of the e tool is a nice touch.

Wow, I was starting to think young folks getting into the hobby didn't know there was another Airborne unit other than 506th PIR... Nice impressions.
I assume the M1A1 Tommy gun is airsoft?

Yeah, but some who went through some of the amphib schools did have jump boots because it was discovered that jump boots were much better at keeping sand out then service shoes and leggings.
That said, I agree it best to the standard and not the exception with a re-enacting impression.

Just saw the answer to my thread from 5 years ago.
@p51 yeah it was airsoft.
Agreed for the jump boots, i wore them because a 2nd ranger vet told me that he landed with jump boots. But i also agree that they were very few to have them.
