Actaully, the first and third hats are my son's. He's the cowboy. He's the one pictured in my avitar. I'm just his proud pops. Modern technology has made my modern hat much lighter.

I always thought it would have been fun to have been born 130 years ago but I don't think I would have survived this long. But I think This post may be drifting toward anothe thread.

I usually put it in a small cage and don't feed it for a while. :D

I'm of the "wear the hell out of it" camp, myself. Unless you need to quickly distress something for a performance or reenactment, I must confess the desire to artificially age a hat mystifies me.

Western hat sites abound with those "distressed' look hats... and I too am mystified by how folks would pay extra money to beat up their brand new hat...!!!

You know, have a 2-3 year old Buckaroo hatter Silver Mist (not Silverbelly) hat that I've TRIED to distress, but I've only sweat through it a few times and it didn't do much. I also wore it walking around Shiloh the weekend I picked it up, it was raining. I need to wear it a lot more.

Later Y'all
