Sad (and bad) news from Laulhère: no more vintage labels reinstated as a new company policy.

Some six years ago, while visiting the Laulhère company in Oloron Sainte Marie, I discovered a shelf loaded with old beret labels; labels that had not been used for many decades, and managed to persuade Laulhère to reinstate these on berets for South Pacific Berets.

This resulted in new editions of vintage labels like the Bortia, Chirola, Etchea, l'Aiglon, Rafale and the beret of the Chasseurs Ardennais carrying the Vrai Basque label.
I am truly very sorry I won't be able to reorder berets with these labels anymore.

The 'Classic Workers Berets', Rafale's and Etchea's in stock now are the very last berets you could possibly find with these labels (apart from 40+ year old moth-eaten vintage models on sites like Ebay).

And yes, also the beret of the Chasseurs Ardennais with Vrai Basque label won't be reproduced anymore.
The l'Aiglon has already sold out. If you want to own a piece of true French beret history, order now (as long as stock lasts...).

Dang Daan, that is sad news. Sorry to hear it.

The weather this past weekend was feeling like time to wear a beret. I've been giving the straws a workout this Summer and so was pleased to plant a platter on my head.

Saturday was this Elósegui 290(?). My memory is going, along some other stuff.

Sunday was sailing with the Basco Roma and today, to work wearing the Aotearoa Grand Foulards Alpin. From one extreme to the other. Joy.

Visiting the Art Gallery of New South Wales on a cold wet windy day in Sydney.
On this occasion wearing my Auloronesa.
Received lots of compliments and queries, were did you buy that beret. More than happy to point them in SPB way. IMG_2512.jpg

Nice, Nico. Like the rust.

I felt like a little color myself, today and so this light-weight, bordeaux, Bakarra.

Sorry about the burry photo, but I wasn't going to do it again.

Ha, after returning from a long weekend away at Waiheke Island (good to have in-laws living in Paradise...), I not only found Foamy's post on his Bordeaux beret on the TFL, but also 10 custom made boinas Tolosa Tupida Plato Grande in Bordeaux (or "Granate", to stick to the Argentinean description) waiting on my doorstep.

Needless to say really, there are only 9 available now of this very special beret in dito colour. I guess as a rule, one should never trust a retailer praising his wares, but honestly, no aficionado should let this one pass - it's a real beauty!

My First ever Beret, a Basco Roma. I normally wear a flat cap to work so maybe it was just that my work colleagues weren't used to seeing me wearing a Beret but i got a great many compliments , and mercifully only one Frank Spencer joke.
I like my new Beret, only trouble is, now i feel as though i ought to get another one, maybe a bit larger diameter, maybe in black, maybe in red, maybe i should get another 2 or 3!
