To any man who is a modern size 44-50L, have you had any luck finding any Golden Age sport coats or suits? They seem to be impossible to find. Largest I've seen has been a size 42S. Thoughts on the reasons?

Have you tried Samuel Windsor? Check out their sports blazer page. They sell off their summer stock at seriously low prices. Check their sizing down the left column. Up to 48" chest size and with options of jacket height and sleeve length.

As for reasons, previous generations of people were smaller. The relatively recent increase in human height has been linked to improvements in childhood nutrition.

Get yourself along to 20th Century Chap: http://www.20thcenturychap.com/ They have some lovely 1930's fish tail trousers up to 40 inch waist. And their jackets go up to 46 inch. Warning, their website is exceedingly moorish, you could easily damage your wealth.

Yes, I've seen their suits - some nice stuff. The jackets aren't perfectly accurate to the 30s/40s, but they're still very wearable and very nice. I'd certainly jump on one if the timing / money come up right.
