Took a mixture of warm water, clear soap, and a dab of rubbing alcohol to my Red Wing 2268 (Role Clubs) and then buffed out with a horsehair brush. Let them dry in the sun.

Previous owner, or owners, must have allowed polish build up over the years, because the difference is pretty noticeable.

By the way, shout out to Brian at Role Club for taking care of these boots. We initially tried a low woodsman heel, but nice as it was, I wasn't thrilled. In dialing in the sizing during a second stay at the shop, he installed the low block heel, which I like much better on this particular pair.

It took a while, but they fit and feel amazing now. I think I will not add any polish or mink oil for some time. I like them like this and they feel supple and nourished.
