In that vein, I've been wanting to acquire one of those 1-ton van based '70s Class C motorhomes, an old grain truck, and do a cab/front chassis swap. To me towing a Falcon dinghy style behind a motor home makes better sense than towing a full-size camper behind a big truck or SUV.

This is a wonderful conversation. I am also a vintage camping/day trip enthusiast. Thought I'd share about an item I had made that really brings me back to that era: my travel rug. This one is from Chapman Bags. It is 100% lambswool and has a detachable waterproof lining.

Here's my son in one of my Blacks tents.
Camped on the shores of Lac D'Annecy as a base for a weeks' climbing in the French Alps in August. We didn't bother with the flysheet as we flew over and were tight for space. Only one night's rain - heavy - but no water in the tent at all.
