Hey Mike I did a quick look at Amazon and they had quite a few. Schiffer had one that looked nice. I have a few of their books on other subjects. They don't always give values, but their dating is usually pretty thorough. There were a few others that also had price guides.
I don't know of any Zippo specific thread, but post some pics up here. There seem to be some lighter gurus among us, and maybe someone will have some input.

When I have a chance I'll take some pictures of my Zippos. I have quite a few, some are older and some are new production replicas. I didn't intend to start a collection but just bought them whenever I came across one because they reminded me of my Dad and all his buddies. They were all WWII vets and it seems they all smoked. I can remember the smell their Zippos made when they lit a cigarette. I'm one of those strange guys that likes that smell!

I've always been a fan of that zippo smell too. My granddad, also a WWII vet, always used one when I was a kid, and even later on after he gave up smoking he always still carried it around in his pocket.

Like a freshly mowed lawn = it always smelled great when somebody else did it. Never got that smell when I did...[huh]

Lol...Yep, that freshly mowed lawn smell wasn't near as nice if you were the one pushing the mower. I worked at a golf course when I was a teenager and loved the smell of the greens and fairways in the early morning after they were mowed. I obviously wasn't the one doing the mowing

Thanks. I am very happy with the aluminium one... these "bullet type" lighters are often sold as German army lighters for a heftier price.
As I don't smoke its use is confined to restaurant candles and offering other people a light, though...

I don't need to mow the lawn to get that smell.
I have a Yankee candle called "riding mower" that smells like someone cutting the grass.
I'm not kidding, and it's that exact.

BTW, I know the Zippo smell.
I have one, even though I don't smoke cigars anymore.
It was a gift from a friend, with my initials on it.
Plus one of my grandfathers used one, but I have no idea what happened to it after he passed on.

A rather nondescript Ronson, only adorned with the nick name Cactus. This belonged to a friend of mine, it flew 35 missions over Europe in WWII. He was a bombardier with the 92nd BG, Fame's Favored Few.

Just saw this! Very cool lighters. Geha also made firearms. Their specialty was converting First World War 98 Mausers to 16 ga bolt action shotguns!

His middle name was Clinton, when in basic training the Sargent asked him what the C stood for, he smarted off, Cactus! It stuck through the rest of his military career.
