This popped up on ebay with an extremely reasonable buy it now price, I bit the bullet and bought it without asking about the size rather than let it get scooped. Ended up being a perfect fit as a 7 1/8.

Real nice! From the Stetson retail store. I have a "St. Regis" from there. Is there a date stamp under the sweatband?

Floating amidst a sea of auctions for modern era Stetson was this heather felt. self ribboned Excellent Quality, apparently belonging to the father of seller. Interesting interpretation of the stamps and tags but the date is about right - late 1930s - 1940. More photos after it arrives.

Late 1950s is my best guess. The liner tip appears to be clear plastic, indicates 1953 or later and the size tag is round and I think Stetson switched to the squarish black size tags about 1960, those are generalizations. There are threads on how to date Stetsons.

I've read through several dating threads today and late 50s is what I was thinking as well. I'll look for more evidence under the sweat when it gets here.

I've been looking at the best stretcher to get to go from a 7 1/8 long oval to a 7 1/4. What about one of these? Is it really worth the money to get one of the vintage style stretchers? Most are listed in the 6 3/4 size. Will they go up to 7 1/4?
