Originally it pointed the way to the service and parts dept. of a car dealership.

Ghosts reborn. When I first saw these I thought they were reproductions. The McDonald store (1922 - 1956) is now the home of the Ozark County Historium in Gainesville, Missouri. The Ford Market (1906 - 1933) was later the Bushong Market (until 1950) and was then again run by the Ford family and became the town's first supermarket (with shopping carts, etc.). Now it is an art gallery and flea market.
These 1930s photos shows the original (and reproduced) sign on the McDonald store.
In the 1940s the sign was changed.
Interior of McDonalds back in the day and currently.
Current interior of Ford's shows the 1950s era sign and the shopping carts.
The Johnson Brothers store nearby has shown several sign changes as can be seen above and in this early 1940s photo.
Today you can see the ghost of yet another sign. The building houses a cafe.
Around the corner the former Gainesville Motor Parts building is now the home of the Youth Center.
Across the border in Mt. Home, Arkansas we find the ghost sign of the T. E. Robertson building.
The restaurant that is for sale was named "Flies". Probably not a good choice...
Across the street to the right was this sign (that I think I shared before). Sadly it has been painted over to make the building more appealing to a prospective buyer. Sigh...
