I now have a 3x and 4x Beaver quality bowlers from Stetson. Both are fantastic quality with very different crown and brim dimensions. This one also had a very interesting sweat stamp. Its my first time seeing the John B. Stetson "Real Russia leather " stamp on a sweatband.

Last post chronicling my trip to NW Hats in Eugene. The liner on this Christy's Bowler was totally trashed, there was no hope of cleaning it and saving the pretty Christy's crest logo. And the threads on the sweat were so rotten they separated about half way around when I put my hat former in. So I had Mike give her a sprucing up. New NW logo liner (I just love those) and a sweat. Now it fits like a glove and is a clean and spiffy. I'm happy with how it turned out. Still looks like a mid fifties bowler on the outside, but its all pimped out on the inside!
I do like the lines of this bowler, it has the slight reverse taper on the sides of the crown. It is hard as a rock, probably equestrian in origins.

Very nice! Love the straight sides and taller crown. I'm curious about the vintage. Hopefully we will learn from the gurus who frequent this thread. Any images of the logos on the sweat? Mfg tags under it?

Great find! It's from after 1900 because of the Paris 1900 medal. I am fairly certain it's pre WWII but seeing the sweatband might help to narrow the time period.

Here's a new arrival. Stetson Standard Quality. The felt is awesome, and in great shape. There are no dents or dings, the only bit of wear on the outside is what looks like a rub mark around the base of the ribbon, which may come out with steaming snd brushing. When I tried to get a pic of the two factory stickers, some stitching gave way on the reeded sweatband , so I won't be doing that again.

The crown is 5", the brim 2" X 1 3/4"
Without going back and doing a bunch of digging in old posts, I will take a date guess at late 30's to mid 40's, but I am secure enough in my lack of knowledge to admit that I'm probably wrong.
All in all, a nice addition to the collection!

Nice Derby Moe! I think it is a little brother to my old Stetson. Mine has the same Self Conforming logo, but it is premier quality, with a smaller sized logo in the unlined crown. I'll look closer at my sweat (which is in far worse condition) to see if there are other similarities. That's a very nice derby profile for you... looks great on. Always good to have a small mirror for exploring the fascinating tidbits that lurk behind the sweatband. Nothing worse than hearing those little pops of straining thread.

Just scored this 7 5/8 on the bay.......apears to have the origional box too!!! I am thinking early 40's for this but am unsure.......any opinions are appreciated......
