FYI it's called a Montana CreaseJust finished reblocking and recreasing this Resistol Stagecoach in Chestnut. I gave the crown a Gus Crease. I also sewed on a hard to find seven ply mid ribbon with a simple bow in dark brown. The brim width on this one is just a tad under 4 inches but wider than 3 1/2 inches. This is one of the hats that's just a little snug on me. I don't wear it much for that reason, and I don't care much for the color. The hat is softer and more pliable than some of my other Stagecoaches, though.
FYI that crease has gone by a number of different names including the Gus, Montana and The Old West.

I've been wanting to put together some new pictures for a living history presentation. Yesterday I was in the area where some of the Miller family are buried & I stopped to pay my respects. Clell was just a young teenager when he first rode under William Anderson, & wasn't quite 15 yrs old when he saw Anderson killed in Oct 1864. Brave men, one & all.

Their father Moses Miller sent Clell's younger brother Ed along with a lawyer to bring home Clell's remains. Clell was buried in an unmarked plot until Moses died in 1879 at which time Clell was added to the monument for his father. The military marker was erected by Quantrill's men sometime later.
Ed Miller was killed in Dec 1881, most likely by Jesse James at Hysinger's Grove but his remains were never found. Jesse was killed then the following April, 1882.
I was a flagger for two counties for a couple of yrs so I know where a lot of the graves are, including my ancestors.
